What's new

Waystone

0.1.0 (beta 17)

  • Leveling with friends, ready to test: /waystone group on turns group play on (and /waystone group off turns it off again), and Waystone players in your party show on the Party panel with their level, step and quests. A member on another guide no longer runs over their name. /waystone group probe checks with a friend what the game allows: sharing a quest, following.
  • Class quests in a party: a step only your class has shows Later: at the end of the guide. It moves the class quest, with its next steps and hand-in, to the end, so your party need not wait. Leave a guide with them still to do and the guide list shows it as done, class quests left. Party members on a class quest show as such on the Party panel.
  • Share quests with your party: one click shares the next of your step's quests that a party member has not taken (the Party panel's big tile in Minimal, a Share button in Full).
  • The Party panel: Full or Minimal (Compact is gone). Minimal works like the buff bar: a big tile on top (share, or a tick when your party is with you) and a small square for each member who is not, with their first letter in their class colour. It lays out horizontally or vertically and lines up with Nearby and the buff bar from its menu.
  • Level 30 before the Undercity: at Hillsbrad's end, a Do it / Skip says how much XP to grind first, counting the Undercity's hand-ins, and the Undercity's trainers follow.
  • Shift-click marks a line not done again, also one the guide had moved past.
  • The way into the next guide: at a guide's end the next guide offered is the first that fits your level as well as your race (Thousand Needles at 30 goes on to Desolace), and Desolace sends you to the Undercity's zeppelin or Freewind's wind rider by where you are.
  • No more stuck hand-ins: a hand-in for a quest whose pick-up or kills you passed without it no longer holds the step. Go back to a guide you left and your Do it / Skip answers there are kept.
  • Asked at the first start: besides the modules, whether to turn on Travel mode and Group play (in development). Characters from before are asked these two once.
  • Weapon poisons and oils: a hand counts as done only with the item you picked. Change your pick and the tile lights up to rebuff; chat says each new pick. The Next buff key no longer puts the poison on the same hand twice: a hand you just applied counts as done while it goes on.
  • Learn a flight path first: when a step flies you somewhere whose flight path you have not found, the step sends you to that flight master to learn it before the flight.
  • Your choice in a Do it / Skip block: the teal "Your choice" line shows only where your answer brings in other quests. Click it to change your answer; a box asks first, so a stray click changes nothing.
  • Class training on every route: the guides now train every class wherever the route passes its trainer, for example every class on Zephras Isle, Undead in Orgrimmar on the way into the Barrens, Paladins in Thunder Bluff at 20, and every Alliance class in Ironforge at 12 and 18.
  • Quests no longer left in your log: Ironband's Compound for Warriors in Dun Morogh, Body and Heart for Night Elf Druids (on the way past Auberdine), Tazan for Orc and Troll Rogues, the letter to Jin'Zil for Warlocks, The Power to Destroy... for Undead and Exploring the Horde for Windshapers are now handed in. Shamans are asked about Call of Fire when Kranal Fiss gives it.
  • Dwarf Shamans: Call of Fire from the end of Dun Morogh into Loch Modan (Do it / Skip), Shaman training at every Ironforge pass, and a trip from Darkshire at 20.
  • Tidier routes in the guides marked new: the farthest target first, and everything in one area as one step.
  • The Barrens and Stonetalon: Pigments for Paints is taken at the Thunder Bluff stop, for Stonetalon later.
  • Smaller: the guide list scrolls, and pasting in a guide of your own moved from its button to /waystone import. /waystone where prints your map position to two decimals.

0.1.0 (beta 16)

  • Poisons, oils and food no longer go missing: right after logging in, the game sometimes has not loaded an item yet, and Waystone Buffs read it as "doesn't go on a weapon". It cleared your poison or oil pick and listed no poisons or food until a reload. Now it waits until the item has loaded. If your pick was cleared, pick it once more.
  • New guides for the Alliance, from 16 to 22, marked new in game. Westfall now leads on to them.
    • Loch Modan (16 to 18): the tram to Ironforge, the troggs in the Valley of Kings, Thelsamar, the dam and the mines, the east shore and Ironband's Excavation.
    • Redridge and Duskwood (18 to 22): Lakeshire's loops, then Darkshire and all of Duskwood's trips west. The Stockade in Stormwind is an optional dungeon block at the end.
  • Elwynn: Warriors and Warlocks take Cloth and Leather Armor, and Warriors Manhunt, for their class trip east.

0.1.0 (beta 15)

  • No more jumping ahead by itself: a "skip ahead" you agreed to in one guide no longer carries into the next, where an early hand-in could skip steps with no question.
  • Dungeon and other Do it / Skip quests: auto accept leaves them alone until you choose Do it. Taking one yourself counts as Do it, and if you abandon it, its steps no longer hold you.
  • Flight paths you have found: Waystone remembers them each time you open a flight master's map, and the Next panel says when a step's flight goes somewhere you have not found yet. /waystone flights lists them.
  • New guide: Westfall (12 to 16), for every Alliance race, marked new. Elwynn, Dun Morogh, Teldrassil and Zephras Isle (Alliance) now lead there. A Dynamite Plan asks Do it / Skip: it needs 10 Rough Dynamite, from Engineering or the auction house.
  • The Barrens and Stonetalon is 18 to 21, where it really ends, and is played through. Your place in it carries over. Cycle of Rebirth is left out (the Gaea Seeds are few and slow), and Mission: Possible But Not Probable (level 24, with an elite) waits for a later guide.
  • A Thunder Bluff stop at 20 in The Barrens and Stonetalon: Apothecary Zamah (inside its 45 minutes), The Elder Crone and Forsaken Aid, and The Sacred Flame for a later guide. Orcs, Trolls and Undead learn Thunder Bluff's flight path there, and Tauren learn Orgrimmar's on their first trip.
  • Class quests:
    • Warriors: Ruga's trial at the Field of Giants, at 20 (Do it / Skip).
    • Druids: WoW Forever's Great Cat Spirit in Moonglade, at 20 (Do it / Skip). Tauren Druids also start Aquatic Form at 17, with Moonglade's Trial of the Lake and the two pendant halves in the Barrens' river and off Silverpine's coast.
    • Rogues: the ship south of Ratchet trains Lockpicking to 80, which Zanzil's cache in the Venture Co. tower needs later.
  • Silverpine and Hillsbrad is played through, no longer marked new, and now 21 to 24, where it really ends. Your place in it carries over. Durnholde Keep is one step, the jailors with the keys are named, the skulls no longer hold you at the farms, and Stop the Spread is left out (it needs an earlier chain).
  • Mura Runetotem is carried from the Barrens to the Sepulcher (850 XP), and Ishamuhale's line names the zhevra whose carcass lures him. After a skipped Wailing Caverns, the guide asks you to abandon its quests.
  • Westfall and Elwynn: Report to Gryan Stoutmantle and Harvesting the Harvesters in Westfall, The Collector in Elwynn (from a gnoll's drop).
  • Dungeon maps: WoW Forever's Hall of Thanes and Excavation Site: Wetlands, from the game's own minimap, with their bosses.
  • Travel mode: party and raid frames stay faded, including BetterBlizzFrames' solid party backgrounds.
  • Leveling with friends, first parts (not yet tested in a party): Waystone players in a party see each other's step, level and quests in a Party panel (Full, Compact or Minimal). /waystone group fake shows it alone.
  • Sit by the fire: next to a campfire, the Nearby panel shows a tile that sits you down: a minute sitting gives you the camp's buffs.
  • Smaller: the bag warning's Destroy button says it only offers grey items; announcements call Waystone "the free leveling companion for WoW Forever".

0.1.0 (beta 14)

  • The Barrens is played through (Lestab, Undead Rogue, from Tirisfal to Orgrimmar at nearly 20) and no longer marked new.
  • New guides for the Horde, from 18 to 26: The Barrens and Stonetalon (18 to 22) and Silverpine Forest and Hillsbrad (22 to 26), for every Horde race, marked new in game. The Barrens guide now leads on to them.
    • The Barrens and Stonetalon: Windshear Crag, Sun Rock Retreat and the south of Stonetalon, then the southern Barrens and Ratchet. Warlocks get the Succubus chain here, at 20. Rogues get a Do it / Skip question for Shenthul's chain to the Venture Co. tower, and Shamans for Call of Water.
    • Silverpine and Hillsbrad: the zeppelin to Tirisfal, Silverpine's south in one loop from the Sepulcher, and Tarren Mill's loops. The Ruins of Lordaeron and Shadowfang Keep are optional dungeon blocks. Undead Paladins get a Do it / Skip question for the moonsilver blade.
  • Dungeon maps from the game's own minimap, with every boss: the dungeon window lays each dungeon out from the game's minimap pictures, the way you know it from the minimap:
    • Ragefire Chasm, the Wailing Caverns (Lord Pythas and Skum now in their places too) and Blackfathom Deeps (all eight bosses, Lorgus Jett at one of three spots).
    • The Deadmines: the mine, with a small pool of Ironclad Cove at its exit for the ship's four bosses.
    • The Stockade: Targorr and Dextren Ward at their possible cells; Bruegal Ironknuckle, a rare, has no spot.
    • Gnomeregan (its front and workshop entrances) and Razorfen Kraul (the maze without the thorns over it, its entrance and two rares): their bosses from the game's own Dungeon Journal.
    • Shadowfang Keep shows the game's drawn map for now (with < and > for its floors); a boss on another floor shows faintly where it is.
    • Crisper: at full size and up, a map is drawn at whole screen pixels, so it is sharp instead of smeared.
  • Travel mode waits for your windows: the map, Escape's menu, the bags, vendors, trainers and other game windows now keep it from fading (it came back, then faded again 2 seconds later with the map still open); after you close one it runs the usual seconds again before fading.
  • The Wailing Caverns' last chance asks too: in The Barrens and Stonetalon, a player still holding the Wailing Caverns quests gets "the Wailing Caverns, last chance, with a group?" with Do it or Skip, instead of the block coming on by itself.
  • The Wailing Caverns ask again at the run: at 18, before the flight to the caves, the Next panel asks "the Wailing Caverns now, with a group?" Skip moves the guide on to Orgrimmar (the next guide comes back to it); every dungeon block's tips now start with "Optional dungeon".
  • No lone trips you did not choose: a line of an All quests trip shows only as optional when you took its quest yourself (Hamuul Runetotem from Tonga sent a player who chose On the way to Thunder Bluff, with no way there).
  • Travel mode: two Lua errors on a flight (a secret value from the game) are fixed.
  • Guide window: left-out lines fold away. Lines a choice of yours leaves out (Skip, All quests only, Solo) fold into one grey row ("+ 9 lines with All quests only"): click it to see them, right-click to take them in. The step count in the Next panel and the guide window leaves those steps out, so it is your own route's length.
  • Plundering the Plunderers (Rogues): the guide says to take the E.C.A.C. and Thieves' Tools from Wrenix's apparatus, and to raise Lockpicking on the lockboxes in the ship's cabin before the chest below.
  • The Ruins of Lordaeron: a map of the walled city from the game's own minimap, with its six bosses, the entrance and the Crest of Lordaeron's four possible spots. The bosses follow mobalytics' WoW Forever route (Witherfang, the Baron, Viktor the Vile, the Abandoned, Rath'mael, then Bjork last), with short notes on each fight.

0.1.0 (beta 13)

  • New: Waystone Travel Mode (off by default, part of the core: it works without the guides). While you run, fly or ride a boat with nothing to do, the whole interface fades away, and only the world and your map pin's marker remain. The minimap hides and party and raid frames fade too. It never fades in combat or within 20 seconds of a fight, and waits while a window is open or you type in chat. It fades softly back on combat, a target, chat near you, whispers, invites, any NPC, loot or other window (Escape's menu, bags, the map), a quest mob coming into view, or after you stand still 3 seconds; looking around with the mouse while you run keeps it faded. Turn it on or off with the eye on the Next and Nearby panels, the minimap menu, a key of your own or /waystone fade. Settings > General > Travel mode: keep the minimap, chat or the Next panel, fade only on flights and boats, and how long to run, to stand still and to wait after a fight.
  • New: dungeon help with maps. Inside a dungeon, a window lists your quests for it (held with their counts, still to get and from whom, what to finish first, too low; which mobs drop each quest item) and the bosses in walking order with the quests each is for, ticked when they die; the Next panel names the next boss. Beside the list, a map laid out from the game's own minimap pictures, with the bosses numbered (gold: next, green: done): Ragefire Chasm and the Wailing Caverns (Lady Anacondra's four spots, Kresh's patrol along the river; the north maze has no pictures yet). A corner grip makes the map bigger; the size button folds it to just the map. Minimap menu > Dungeons shows any leveling dungeon, also before you go, and /waystone dungeon Ragefire Chasm works anywhere. Boss order (not yet checked in play) for Shadowfang Keep, Blackfathom Deeps, the Deadmines, the Stockade and WoW Forever's Ruins of Lordaeron, Hall of Thanes and Excavation Site: Wetlands, with notes such as the Crest of Lordaeron's five random spots.
  • New: your playstyle. Asked once at your first login (and in settings > Playstyle, /waystone playstyle): Ask me (as before), Solo (no dungeons and no elite quests, no questions; two tick boxes still offer elite quests or dungeons) or With friends (every dungeon and group quest, taken for you). Left-out lines stay greyed in the guide window; right-click takes one in.
  • Dungeons in the guides are a choice: at the first pick-up the guide asks All quests, On the way, or Skip. In the Barrens, the Wailing Caverns ask at Crane Operator Bigglefuzz in Ratchet; All quests adds the Thunder Bluff trips for Leaders of the Fang, Serpentbloom and Apothecary Zamah (45 minutes, taken at the Crossroads just before), and the run comes at 18, outer caves first.
  • The Barrens for every Horde race: Orcs and Trolls over Far Watch, Undead off the zeppelin from Tirisfal (with Orgrimmar's Meal Appeal, Favorite Food and Rocks to Rests on the way in, and Ragefire Chasm optional), Tauren from Mulgore by Camp Taurajo (Druids: Body and Heart at the Moonkin Stone and Bear Form in Thunder Bluff, training trips, A Bundle of Hides), and Windshaper Skyborne from Zephras Isle through Thunder Bluff and Camp Taurajo (Thrall on the Orgrimmar trip, their class quests on the way).
  • The Barrens, from the play tests:
    • Quest chains: Her Name Is Olgra comes after Lost in Battle. The Hermit Tanner comes after Bruised Pride, then Walton's Trouble in the Valley, then Unwelcome Guests. Walton's chain asks now (with a group: Corporal Adamore is level 17) or later on the last loop north.
    • The route: the south loop goes Verog, the Stagnant Oasis, Stolen Silver, the raptor nests and Mankrik's wife, then Camp Taurajo for its flight path and Tribes at War, and flies back to the Crossroads. Consumed by Hatred's tusks come from the Bristlebacks, with Tribes at War. Chol'aruk is east of the Crossroads, on the way to Ishamuhale. Raptor Horns come at the raptor nests at about 16.
    • Smaller fixes: Chen's Empty Keg no longer waits on the horn at Echeyakee. The guide flies from the Crossroads to Ratchet. The trip back to Orgrimmar stops at the bank and the auction house (optional), and Undead train new weapon skills there.
    • Class quests: Warriors of every race get Veteran Uzzek and Defensive Stance at Far Watch. Shamans hand in Call of Fire and get a Do it / Skip question for the rest of the fire totem chain. Rogues take Zando'zan at 16 on the Orgrimmar trip, then Wrenix and Polly. Warlocks' Succubus chain waits for the next guide, since it needs level 20.
  • Tirisfal is played through and no longer marked new. Its end follows the play test: The Family Crypt, Bandarion Keep's quests, over the mountains to the Sepulcher (its flight path and the bat quests), the Undercity and Gunther's island, then the zeppelin to Orgrimmar at about 13. Hides for the Forsaken, Captain Melrache and the Argent Dawn's quests at Linnea's camp are in; every class reaches level 12.
  • Quests picked up at the first pass by their giver: 47 quests are taken earlier, where the giver stands on the way, so their mobs and items count sooner; where it is close, the old line stays as a catch-up.
  • Quests an NPC does not offer are skipped with what follows from them, and said so in chat, instead of holding the step; a later visit that offers them brings them back (right-click to take one back yourself).
  • Guide list: guides this character has finished are ticked "done".
  • Next panel: next moves exactly one step; optional lines already done (Chen's Empty Keg's keg spots) are left out instead of showing ticked; the step counter is never cut off.
  • Bags nearly full: the Next panel names the next place to sell; with no vendor near, it picks the cheapest grey items to destroy (with coin icons), one click each, grey items only.
  • New spells to train: a level-up that unlocks spells at your class trainer says so once in chat.
  • Elites and strong mobs: an elite, a skull, or a mob 4 or more levels above you gets a quiet orange line at the top of the screen, never in combat.
  • Nearby panel and quest mob alerts: a mob another player has tagged is left out, and so is a mob whose own objective you have finished.
  • Works well with Questie, the help says so: use one auto accept, Questie's or Waystone's, not both.
  • Time left on the guide: the estimate is re-tuned from players' journals (kills, walking, talking, picking things up, the Undercity's walks, zeppelin rides).
  • A new welcome in chat: "the free leveling companion for WoW Forever: guides, Travel Mode and group buffs, expanding and evolving every week". The setting is "Welcome note in chat at login".
  • Fixes: with auto accept on, a quest giver could be read as offering nothing (Apothecary Helbrim); a training line is left out once you trained with any trainer of your class; Tirisfal's zeppelin ticks by itself on arrival; "Continue with ..." shows only on a finished guide's last step; taking a quest whose work is still ahead no longer sends the guide back; Dun Morogh's Treacherous Cold rifles tick on the right lines; the run journal no longer logs quest XP as a kill, and says why the guide went back by itself.

0.1.0 (beta 12)

  • Guides follow the quest chains in the new quest data: QuestieDB now knows which of WoW Forever's own quests must be done first, so no guide sends you for a quest that is not offered yet. Elwynn: Northshire's library books in their order (the Nibbled-On Book from the kobolds first), Jason's murloc quests before Remy's bait, Rare Books after Book Return. Dun Morogh: Father Gavin's firewood first, Farsen's Watch before Nip 'Em in the Bud, Thesten's powder after the keg. Teldrassil: the quest Teldrassil comes from the Oracle Tree's bark. Zephras Isle: Boughs in the Wind is for Mages, The Missing Scholar goes to Fillion.
  • Tirisfal, from the play test: The One That Got Away and As Above, So Below are out (not offered at these levels). After Agamand Mills the route goes on west to the pumpkins and the Scarlet outpost, then back along the road to one Brill visit with every hand-in, where the hand-ins bring you to level 10 before the trainers. Shadowvale is for paladins only (their own quests at Bandarion Keep), with a warning that its mobs hit hard.

0.1.0 (beta 11)

  • Fix: with several mobs to step through, the enemy key's macro could pass 255 characters and be cut off, and your character said "/c" out loud. It now keeps the macro short. Tested in game.
  • Next panel: a quest done at several places (Patience: three reports from three people) shows all its objectives, the ones for another step in grey with "next step" or "later, step N", so it is clear why the step moved on. "Hand in at step N" under a done quest shows once per quest, and only when that step is more than two steps on.
  • Tirisfal, from a play test: Wanted: Maggot Eye is in the route (he stands by the lake between the mongrels and the murlocs, 850 XP). After the murlocs the guide walks you back to Brill to hand in, train and sell, then to Agamand Mills, then hearths back. Deaths in the Family is done on that same trip to the mills, not on a second one later. A sell stop comes before the north loop too: it fills your bags.
  • Guides: more stops to sell your grey items where the route goes long without one (The Barrens at Vrang's camp and the Crossroads, Bloodhoof Village, Kharanos, Dolanaar twice). In Teldrassil the two named harpies of Darkness in the Glade are one step.
  • Mulgore: Boarton gives the Windfury Cones quest only after the Seaforium charges are handed in, so there is a short stop at him after the mine. Warriors take Veteran Uzzek from Krang Stonehoof, and Traditions of the Bluff is handed in right after the incense.
  • Journal, more to learn from: deaths (where, to what), what each NPC really offers and what a step wanted that it did not, kills with their XP, time standing still, money at trainers and vendors, quests and bags at each step, the reward picked, flight paths found, the switches in use, and Waystone Lua errors. Ids and numbers only, no names.
  • Journal: every press of the guide's own buttons (next, back, a step in the window, marking or skipping a line, skip ahead, stay) is written as a "hand" entry, so a move the guide made by itself is told apart from one you made.

0.1.0 (beta 10)

  • Barrens guide (12 to 18): the Horde route after Durotar, marked "new".
  • Five new guides: Northshire and Elwynn Forest, Coldridge Valley and Dun Morogh, Teldrassil, Camp Narache and Mulgore, Deathknell and Tirisfal Glades, levels 1 to about 12. They are marked "new": built from the quest data and reviewed, not yet played through by us. Report what's wrong and they get better.
  • Arrow without TomTom: the arrow is now the game's own map pin for the step, with the in-world marker and its distance (settings > Guide turns the marker off). TomTom is no longer used. Tested in game.
  • Trainers and flight paths: the Next panel says what the trainer has for you ("2 spells to learn here, 1g 20s") once you have opened it, and leaves a training stop out while your last visit said there is nothing new. It also warns when the flight path of a "fly" step is not on your list yet, and flags nearly full bags earlier at vendor stops. Not tested in game yet.
  • Guide: the guide reads your quest log itself to know a quest is taken (a Mulgore line was ticked at level 2 with the quest never taken), and says "You do not have X in your log. Take it from Y first" when a kill or hand-in line is for a quest you do not hold. The Mulgore route takes Break Sharptusk! at level 3, on a stop at the camp.
  • Target: a setting, "Mark the target as you target it", marks the target on a plain click or key press as well (not only right-click), with the mark you pick for NPCs and enemies from the game's own raid icons. Off by default.
  • Guide: a quest above your level (Dwarven Digging at level 5) no longer holds the step: its lines are greyed ("needs level 6"), the Next panel says so, and they come back when you reach the level.
  • Next panel: marking a step line done or not done is now Shift-click (a plain click marked it by accident). Right-click still skips a quest.
  • Guide: a line can depend on your level ([if level <14]): the Barrens guide asks a player who reaches Vrang below 14 to kill harpies until 14, and shows nothing to those already there.
  • Guide: a step can wait for several objectives of one quest at one place (kills and an item), not just one.
  • Guide: setting your hearth ticks the step's hearth line whatever the game calls the inn (Kharanos's is "Thunderbrew Distillery").
  • A guide for you: a new character is offered the guide for its race and level once (Start or Not now), and Change guide lists your guides first, marked "for you", and only your faction's (and shared) guides.
  • Next panel: your XP an hour, when you reach the next level, and how long the rest of the guide takes at your own pace ("Level 14 in about 12 min · 9.8k XP an hour · about 45 min left of the guide"). Settings > Guide turns it off.

0.1.0 (beta 9)

  • New guide: Zephras Isle, the Skyborne start, for both sides (Windshapers and High Order), levels 1 to about 14, played from start to end on the Windshaper side. It ends after the skycutter, in Mulgore or Dalaran. Shamans get their training and the whole Call of Fire chain.
  • Totems for shamans: a Totems row in the buff bar, one tile per element, with the totem's time left; right-click picks the totem, the Next buff key drops a missing one, and it shows how many of your party are in range. Macros can use /click WaystoneBuffsTotemEarth (Fire, Water, Air).
  • Buffs for shamans: a Weapon tile for the main hand casts your weapon imbue (Rockbiter, Flametongue, Frostbrand or Windfury; right-click to pick) and shows when it is missing or running out.
  • Fix: a hand's list in Food & weapons offered items that only had "stone" in their name, like the Windstone; it now lists only items that go on a weapon.
  • Nearby: with a guide it now also shows the step's own mobs and NPCs, so everything for your quests is in one place.
  • Nearby: with a guide, the current step's quest givers near you show as "!" tiles, like hand-ins.
  • Nearby: no "!" for a friendly NPC you target or mouse over: it only meant they gave you a quest you have, or that their tooltip names one. A friendly NPC shows only when a quest objective or the current step names them (the step's NPC with a speech bubble). Hand-ins, talk-to and the guide's quest givers still show.
  • Stuck NPCs: when the game keeps a talk open with no window (the NPC stops answering), Waystone closes it after 2 seconds and says so in chat.
  • Next panel: no "Not finished yet" on a hand-in when all that is left is optional or done by reaching that NPC (Blood Tithe: "Find Aamelia Windfield").
  • Guide: a step can wait for an NPC's talk to finish ("Wait until Riaani finishes talking"), ticked by itself when the quest updates.
  • Guide: no more jumping ahead on its own. When you do quests from a later step first, a box asks: Skip ahead (naming the quests left undone) or Stay. Skipped lines show without a tick; taking a skipped quest later brings the guide back to it.
  • Nearby: a quest with an item to use gets a small square with that item under its tile (at the row's right in Full and Compact): click it to use the item. It shows the item's cooldown. One square per quest; the tile itself shows what the target is for. No on-the-ground tile when a mob tile covers the same objective.
  • Nearby: neutral quest mobs the game does not flag (the Skyhoppers for Bugged) show when an objective of yours or the current step names them.
  • Nearby: a mob no longer shows for a quest whose items you already have (Al'Aketh Convert after the Signet of Akir).
  • Nearby: with a guide, quest items lying on the ground (Raw Windstones, Hippogryph Down) show as a tile with the item's icon and the count, near the step's spot.
  • Modules per character: a new character chooses its own modules (a Buffs-only alt beside your levellers); settings > Modules changes them for that character only.
  • Nearby: a short note on each character's first start shows where the panel is.
  • Skyborne: the guide shows a Skyborne character the quests of their own side (the game numbers the race differently from the quest data).
  • Journal: notes your race and class at each login, and every trainer you visit with your level, so new guides know where each class trains.
  • Nearby: "talk to" tiles only for NPCs a quest really asks you to talk to (Zephras Isle's cultists counted as friendly).

0.1.0 (beta 8)

  • Nearby: Minimal looks like the buff bar's Minimal (the same tiles, teal frame, grip), loot tiles show the quest item's own icon, and the marks (the raid marker skull, !, ? and a speech bubble) sit in the middle. Mobs that drop the same item share one tile, with a small square under it to target each. A thin strip along a tile's bottom shows your progress. A mob that drops items for two quests gives a tile for each. It shows up to 3, 5 or 8 (a setting, 5 by default). Line up with the buff bar, in its menu, puts it right next to it.
  • Nearby: an NPC a quest asks you to talk to (Camping 101: learn cooking from the cook) shows when you are near, with a speech bubble.
  • Guide: handing in a quest the guide offered earlier no longer moves you many steps ahead.
  • Buffs: a buff recast in combat while it was running out shows as cast too.
  • Journal: no double path point after a reload.
  • Help: quest data is built into Waystone; Questie is not needed.

0.1.0 (beta 7)

  • New: the Nearby panel. Quest NPCs and mobs around you, with the quest and its count, one click to target. With a guide, hand-ins, and other NPCs and mobs only when the step does not name them. Full, Compact or Minimal (small tiles: a skull, a bag, the quest item, ! or ?, with the count; horizontal or vertical). Without a guide, the quest item key uses the item of a nearby quest mob. A finished quest's hand-in NPC shows when you are close, in any zone. The quest mob alert names the quest too.
  • The journal notes the quest NPCs and mobs seen nearby and which quest each is for, so new guides know where every camp and quest giver is. Also where you bind and use your Hearthstone, your flights, zeppelins and boats.
  • The journal notes every quest, also in zones without a guide: who gives it, where you did it and the XP it gave. Share your journal at https://waystoneforever.com/journal/ to help write new guides.
  • Buffs: a buff cast in combat shows as cast until the game lets the bar read auras again, and Next buff moves on.
  • The journal notes the way you walk (a point about every 100 yards), so the routes can follow how players really move. /waystone journal clear empties it after you have shared it.

0.1.0 (beta 6)

New: Waystone Buffs. One download now holds two parts, the leveling guide and buffs. On the first start Waystone asks which ones you want; the other is turned off and costs nothing.

  • The buff bar: your own buffs (armor, aura, aspect, shout, Inner Fire...), your group's (Fortitude, Intellect, Mark of the Wild, blessings by role) and your food and weapon oil, stone or poison. A tile lights up when someone lacks a buff and turns orange when it runs out. Full, Compact or Minimal.
  • The Next buff key casts whatever is most urgent, even with the bar hidden. Pick the key in settings > Buffs.
  • Buff setup: who buffs what, for the whole party or raid (My buffs, Party buffs, Raid buffs). Auto-assign, Announce, and everyone running Waystone Buffs sees the same plan. In a raid the leader and assistants set it, or let everyone.
  • Food & weapons: pick your food and what goes on each weapon; the Next buff key eats or applies it, and waits while you eat.

For every part:

  • Settings have a page per part (General, Guide, Buffs, Modules), and the gear on each window opens its own page.
  • Help: /waystone help opens a searchable help window.
  • Make it yours: many themes, light ones too, the game font or IBM Plex, and Small, Normal or Large text. Changes show straight away.
  • The minimap button opens the Waystone menu: each part's windows, Settings and Help. Right-click for settings.
  • No keys are set at first: pick them in settings. Players who already use Waystone keep F8, F9 and F7.

Guide:

  • The arrow on kill steps points to the guide's spot, never to the game's quest marker.
  • The drop chance is no longer shown in the Next panel.

0.1.0 (beta 5)

  • A better run journal: every line is noted as you do it (when and where), with the guide and addon version. Upload your journal at https://waystoneforever.com/journal/ : it shows how players really walk the guides, so the routes get better.
  • Durotar: Slaying the Beast is picked up from Neeru, so both Ragefire Chasm quests come along. After the Echo Isles, an optional death skip back to Sen'jin (no resurrection sickness below level 11).
  • Guide updates no longer move you: if an update moves the line your step started with, you stay where you were.
  • Fixes: lines that wait for an item or a quest now tick reliably.

0.1.0 (beta 4)

The Durotar guide played to the end, with what that run showed.

  • Better route at the end: Threat from Below is handed in at Razor Hill before Margoz, and Aggor the Young (optional, elite) comes on the way to Skull Rock. The last Orgrimmar visit is one walk through the city, Sana first. Then hearth to Razor Hill and take the road to The Barrens.
  • More quests picked up for The Barrens: Ak'Zeloth from Neeru, and Veteran Uzzek from Sorek for Warriors.
  • Ask for help: clickable quest and item links, its own text for party ("Can we kill ...?") and for guild ("Anyone up for ...?").
  • Finishing a guide: no click on the last note needed. The message says your level and the time, with where you started. /waystone announce offers the post again if you closed it.
  • On the wrong step? Click the step in the guide window: it now stays there. The back button and /waystone help say how.
  • Fixes: the guide no longer jumps ahead after doing a block early (the Warlock's Voidwalker); the arrow no longer follows a far-off quest map spot (Skull Rock); dead quest NPCs can be targeted with F8 (Heglan Shadeeye); "Ask for help" no longer gives an error.

0.1.0 (beta 3)

  • Start anywhere: pick up the guide midway and it finds your place from the quests you have handed in. Quests you still hold from steps behind you are listed once in chat.
  • Now or later: some blocks ask once and the answer carries the whole block. A Warlock can do the Skull Rock quests early for the Voidwalker, or later at 12. The guide window shows your choice with a teal bar, and right-click switches it.
  • Hunters get their pet at 10: the taming quests come right where you turn 10 near Razor Hill, and the pet trainer is on the first Orgrimmar visit.
  • Town rounds: both Orgrimmar visits end with level 12 training, grimoires for Warlocks, selling and repairs, and the bank.
  • More quests: Margoz and Skull Rock, Burning Shadows (Gazz'uz, optional), and the class hand-ins in Orgrimmar (Therzok, Hex of Weakness). A line reminds you to destroy the Lieutenant's Insignia once no quest needs it.
  • Ask for help in a party: a Party button with its own text ("Can we kill ...?"). Point at a button to see what it sends.
  • The arrow follows the quest map while you do a quest's objectives (Threat from Below's clues, not Heglan).
  • Fixes: "Ask for help" no longer gives an error; dead quest NPCs (Heglan Shadeeye) can be targeted with F8.

0.1.0 (beta 2)

  • Progress survives guide updates: ticks, choices and the current step are saved by what each line is, so a new version of a guide no longer moves them onto other lines. (Ticks saved by beta 1 are cleared once.)
  • Long steps scroll in the Next panel and the settings window, with a thin bar, instead of growing down the screen. The guide window has the same bar.
  • Settings: sliders for the size of every Waystone window and for background opacity.
  • Change guide: the guide window's footer opens the guide list (switch, stop, or import a guide). A finished guide offers the next one.
  • Arrow for every quest: a line without a place of its own points where the game's quest map shows the quest.
  • Tooltips: hovering a line shows its tip, also when it is done, and says "Handed in" or "Ready to hand in" when the game decides that.
  • Orgrimmar: a bank stop (optional), the plants for Yelmak's Medley marked on the map, and Journey to the Crossroads left out (Thrall does not offer it to Orcs and Trolls).
  • Fixes: no empty button in the guide window; the scroll bar only shows when something is hidden; a hand-in no longer repeats objectives listed in the same step.

0.1.0 (beta)

The first public test.

  • Route: Valley of Trials and Durotar, levels 1 to 12, for every Orc and Troll class, WoW Forever's Orc Mage and Troll Warlock included. It has the quests WoW Forever added, the class quests (the Warlock's voidwalker, the Shaman's Earth totem, the Hunter's first pet), training at every level, one walk through Orgrimmar, and Thrall's Hidden Enemies.
  • Next panel: the step to do now. A button for each NPC and mob it names: hover one to see what it is for, click it to target, right-click it to target and mark it (a diamond on NPCs, a skull on enemies). The NPC to visit next is highlighted, and a named mob comes first.
  • Shows what is left: objectives with drop chances, where a quest is handed in later, a warning when bags are nearly full, and a button to ask for help with an elite.
  • Optional steps ask: elites, weapon trainers, a wand, profession quests and slow quests show "Do it" or "Skip". A slow quest becomes a normal step when you are behind the planned level.
  • Ticks itself: visiting the trainer, a vendor or a demon trainer's shop, using the hearthstone, equipping a wand, learning a weapon skill.
  • Skip a quest: right-click it, and the later steps that need it are skipped too. Right-click again in the guide window to bring it back.
  • Camping 101: every profession's version, shown only for your professions, with a note in chat when one is ready to hand in.
  • Guide window: every step of the route. Click a step to jump there, or import a guide to try it. A minimal mode shows just the next three steps.
  • Keys: F8 targets the step's friendly NPC, F9 its enemy, F7 uses its quest item (or sits down for The Great Outdoors). All three can be changed.
  • Quest help: can accept and turn in the guide's quests for you (switch it on in settings), and plays a sound when a quest mob is near.
  • Arrow: sets a TomTom waypoint for every step when TomTom is installed.
  • Run journal: steps, levels and time on the guide, kept on your computer only.
  • Announcements: off by default. Level-ups and finished guides can be posted to party, guild or /say; WoW Forever only lets a click post chat, so a box asks first.
  • Early build: a note in chat at login asks for reports (can be turned off in settings).
