Warchiefs War Diary - Community Guides 1.5.7

Import, organize, follow and share community-made leveling and questing guides, right inside Warchiefs War Diary.

Community Guides is an optional plugin for Warchiefs War Diary (retail). Once installed, a Community Guides section appears in the War Diary window, laid out just like the built-in Leveling Guides list, with folders, icons, search, filters and favorite stars.

Highlights

• One-click import: click Import guide, paste a guide string (Ctrl+V) and click Import. Both War Diary guide strings and plain-text guides written with step lines are supported.
• Organized automatically: every guide has a type (Leveling, Campaign, Holiday, Profession, Dungeon, Reputation or Other) and is sorted into a folder with its own icon. Optional region and zone tags add subfolders, for example Leveling Guides > Kalimdor > Durotar.
• Versioned updates: each guide has an id and a version. Importing a newer version updates the guide in place and keeps your favorite star and progress. Importing the same version again changes nothing, and older copies are refused so you never downgrade by accident.
• Share with confidence: Export produces a War Diary guide string ending in a checksum line. The export box opens already selected, with a Select all button. A string that was cut short or changed after export is detected and refused with a clear message.
• Works with your character: guides can be limited by faction, race and class. You're warned when a guide doesn't fit your character, both on import and when loading it. Rows for guides your character can't use are marked in the list, and the Filter menu works on them.
• Out-levelled a guide? The tracker tells you when you're above a guide's level range. Quests you skipped past are recognised automatically, and Skip step and Reset skips let you take full control.
• Safe by design: every import is validated step by step and runs inside error protection. A broken guide string can't crash the tracker or the window, and nothing is changed when an import fails. Errors are shown in a read-only box you can select and copy, for example to include in a bug report.
• Tidy management: load, export, skip steps or delete any guide from its details panel. Deleting asks for confirmation first.
• Export the built-in guides too: War Diary's own leveling guides can be exported as guide strings to share.

Writing a guide

Plain-text guides start with optional header tags, followed by step blocks:

• Supported types: leveling, campaign, holiday, profession, dungeon, reputation, other.
• Versions are whole numbers. Raise #version whenever you publish an update.
• Commands War Diary can't follow automatically are kept and shown as notes, and the import report lists them.
• Encrypted or packed guide strings can't be imported. Only plain text is accepted.

Notes

• Guides are saved account-wide. Your progress and skips are saved per character.
• Race and class names are matched in English.
• Everything is event-driven, with no per-frame update loops.
