Forever — simplified 1.4.3

The Forever edition now focuses on HP and mana visual warnings, with an optional small, movable OOM button.

• Enable health, mana, or both.
• Set a first warning and a critical warning for each resource. Defaults are 25% and 10%.
• Amber and red banners show the warning level. Live warnings clear when the resource recovers; they are not timed popups.
• Turn visual warnings off in options if desired.

Move the warning bars

Click Move warnings in /vitalalerts, then left-drag the HP and mana bars independently. Click Lock warnings when finished. Positions save automatically and survive reloads. Reset warnings restores the original positions. Locked bars do not intercept mouse clicks.

You can also use /vitalalerts move, /vitalalerts lock, and /vitalalerts resetwarnings.

Optional OOM button

Enable Show OOM button and click Save. Edit OOM message to set your own text. The default is I am out of Mana; leave the field blank to restore it. Your message is saved between logins.

• Left-click: sends your saved OOM message to your party, raid, or instance group.
• Hold right mouse and drag: moves the small button. Its position is remembered after reloads.
• Reset button: restores its default position.

Nothing is sent solo. Messages require a manual click, command, or keybind, with a two-second repeat cooldown. The button stays visible while enabled.

The Forever edition removes automatic group messages, the extra low-mana prompt, timed message boxes, voice, and chimes. Existing HP/mana settings and keybindings are preserved.

Options and commands

Type /vitalalerts, or open Settings > AddOns > Vital Alerts. Choose your settings and click Save.

• /vitalalerts test — Preview health warnings.
• /vitalalerts test mana — Preview mana warnings.
• /vitalalerts oom — Manually send the OOM message.
• /vitalalerts resetbutton — Reset button position.
• /vitalalerts on or /vitalalerts off — Enable or disable the addon.

Preview tests show both warning levels for five seconds total and never send chat. An optional Send OOM message keybinding is available under Vital Alerts; no key is assigned automatically.

Install Forever

For Forever 1.60.1, choose vitalalerts-1.4.3-Forever.zip. Extract the ForeverHealthAlert folder into your Forever client’s Interface/AddOns folder, currently _classic_beta_/Interface/AddOns, then type /reload. Keep the folder name unchanged to retain settings.

Version 1.4.3 is a normal Release; beta updates are not required. Characters without a mana pool do not show mana warnings.

Retail edition

The existing 1.3.1 Retail file is unchanged by this Forever update. It has separate health/mana thresholds, optional visual warnings, and voice/group-message features that depend on the client exposing readable values. Restricted values cannot trigger automatic voice or chat. The small movable OOM button described above belongs to the Forever edition.

For Retail 12.1.0, use the Retail ZIP and its RetailHealthVoice folder in _retail_/Interface/AddOns. Do not install the Forever file in Retail.

Reporting a problem

Include your client build, addon version, whether preview tests work, whether the issue happens in combat, and any Lua or chat error.
