What's new

2.1.1

  • A new character is now asked about your main UI after its intro cinematic. The question used to open behind the cinematic, and pressing Escape to skip the cinematic closed it unseen.
  • The question also waits while the interface is hidden with Alt+Z. If a cinematic or movie starts while it's open, it comes back once that's over.

2.1.0

  • History: each character keeps its last 10 UI versions. Undo and Redo step through them as many times as you like, and clicking an entry lets you choose which parts of that UI to put back. Stepping back puts back only what that step changed, and removes the settings, chat channels and character layouts and macros it added.
  • Once a day, and after a game patch, changes made some other way (by hand, or an addon resetting itself) go into History too, so you can step back over them.
  • Saved UIs: keep up to 10 UIs under a name and load them on any character in the same game.
  • Main UI: make one saved UI your main one and your other characters ask whether to use it when they log in.
  • Cooldown Manager: which spells and alerts each bar shows, for every spec. Ticked between characters of the same class in the same game.
  • Choose which addons' settings come over in an import, from the Addon settings row.
  • Hover over a part in the import view to see exactly what will change.
  • Hover over the string's length to see which parts of your UI take up the most room.
  • Clicking your string selects all of it, and the box takes the keyboard more reliably when the window opens, so Ctrl+C copies straight away.
  • Ready for retail 12.1.7.
  • New commands: /passport redo, /passport history and /passport saved.

2.0.3

  • Clearer wording in the import view's notes and in the code comments.

2.0.2

  • Cleaner icon: the emblem from the cover, centered, so it sits right in the window's round portrait and stays readable in the addon list.
  • The text box takes the keyboard by itself when the window opens, including right after typing /passport in chat, so Ctrl+C works straight away.

2.0.1

The window

  • New window in the current Blizzard style. It can be moved and resized, remembers where you left it, and always fits on screen at any UI scale and resolution.
  • Window size setting under Options > AddOns > UI Passport, and /passport reset.
  • The text box fills the window when you copy. When you paste, the options appear underneath.
  • A click anywhere in the text box gives it the keyboard, and the window says when you need to click Select all before Ctrl+C.
  • Long strings paste in one go instead of character by character.
  • Fixed the Close button floating in the middle of the window.
  • New icon.

Importing

  • Apply locks during combat, in dungeons, raids and battlegrounds, and while Edit Mode is open, and unlocks by itself afterwards.
  • Undo asks first and shows the date of the backup. It only touches the parts the import changed and puts them back exactly: settings and Edit Mode layouts the import added are removed, and cloud sync is turned back on if the import turned it off.
  • Each character's backup is kept in its own saved file, so the shared file stays small.
  • The import view shows when a passport was made, and notes when it came from a wider or narrower screen.

Copying

  • Action bars: macros that show a spell or item are copied (they were left empty before), the random favorite mount button is copied, buttons it can't copy (outfits) are left alone instead of cleared, and #showtooltip macros keep their changing icon.
  • Chat channel colors follow the channel's name, since channel numbers differ between characters.
  • Edit Mode layouts get the same clean-up Blizzard runs on its own layouts, so elements only one game has get their default settings.
  • Click-casting keeps spells known through talents and overrides.
  • ElvUI's machine-specific settings (locale, multi-monitor) are left out, as ElvUI's own export does.
  • Keybindings note when they're account-wide and so reach every character.

Safety

  • A pasted string can only write an addon's own saved variables. It can't create globals, turn UI Passport off, or change game functions, frames or Blizzard's own data.
  • Blizzard's combat log and damage meter settings are checked before they're written.
  • Graphics and sound settings can't be set from a string.
  • Each install has its own ID. For a passport from another install, addon settings, action bars and keybindings (which can carry scripts) start unticked with a warning; importing them marks that install as yours.
  • WeakAuras is no longer copied: its auras are code, and its own sharing shows that code first.
  • Macros that run scripts are flagged, and names in a pasted string are shown as plain text.

Strings from 1.x still import, and 2.x strings import in 1.x.

1.0.0

  • First release.
