TrueParse

A parse that shows you actually did your job. Grades every player 0–100 on real group contribution - damage, healing, soaking, kicks, dispels, deaths — against Warcraft Logs populations for their spec, so tanks and healers can top the meter too.

What's new

2.15.0

The new raid and the Season 2 Mythic+ pool now have real Warcraft Logs curves.

2.14.2 shipped The Venomous Abyss and the Season 2 dungeons scored on the derived (ilvl/benchmark) tier, and said the crawl would wait until a real population existed rather than build curves out of a few hundred parses. Both are in now. The raid is deeply ranked on Normal, Heroic and LFR, and the Season 2 Mythic+ pool — Altar of Fangs, Den of Nalorakk, Kings' Rest, Murder Row, Ruby Life Pools, Temple of Sethraliss, The Blinding Vale and Voidscar Arena — carries per-keystone curves at the +5, +8, +11 and +14 bands. Your keys are scored directly against players who ran the same dungeon at the same keystone level, instead of the derived tier. The +2 band is included only where its ranked population cleared the 300-parse floor, which today is a single dungeon; a +2 elsewhere still falls back to the derived tier rather than borrow a mismatched curve.

A Mythic+ boss no longer loses its key level when the meter is slow to release it. The level was read from the game at the moment TrueParse captured the fight, and a fight the damage meter kept locked for a few minutes could be captured after the key had already completed, when the game reports no active key. The fight then showed a bare "M+" chip beside its "+5" run-mates and was scored as a key of unknown level. The level is now recorded while the key is running (when the pull starts and again when the boss dies), a late capture takes it from the other bosses of the same run when even that is missing, and history already holding such a fight is repaired on the next load.

Ghost rows from a damage-meter reset no longer appear in the fight list. When the game's damage meter resets, TrueParse re-reads every session the meter still lists from wherever you happen to be standing. A fight it had already decided on but never stored (a follower dungeon, a delve, story mode) came back that way as a boss row with no zone, no difficulty and no start time, filed under whatever zone you were in at the time. Three Altar of Fangs bosses showed up under "Vaults of Atal'Utek" that way, two more under "Eastern Kingdoms". A boss capture that TrueParse neither watched live nor saw end inside an instance is now refused, and any such rows already in your history are removed the next time the addon loads. Real fights are unaffected: every one of them carries one of those two marks, including LFR fights that unlock after you leave.

The monthly data crawl waits out Warcraft Logs' per-IP throttle instead of making it worse. The September refresh was rate-limited by IP on the shared CI runner. The crawler treated each refusal as a failed request, split the batch in half and retried, which doubled the request count each time, then gave up on individual slices and produced a file the test gate rejected after three hours. A throttle is now recognised for what it is and waited out with increasing pauses.

Mythic raid is deliberately left out for now. Measured 24 August: of the raid's nine bosses, Mythic has a real population on one, a few hundred parses on a second, a handful on a third, and nothing at all on the remaining six. A curve built from that reads as junk, and TrueParse presents these as real population data, so the Mythic bracket stays out until it has a few weeks of kills behind it. Normal, Heroic and LFR are unaffected.

Some bosses will not have curves at first, and that is deliberate. A spec needs 300 ranked parses on a boss before a curve gets built from it; anything thinner falls back to the derived (item level and benchmark) score rather than inventing a percentile out of a handful of kills. As of 24 August that means Ula'tek, whose Heroic population is running far thinner per spec than the bosses either side of it, and six of the nine bosses on Looking For Raid, where the later wings have not opened yet. These fill themselves in as the tier gets played — nothing needs doing.

Practice dummy sessions are measured against a new boss. The raid anchor moved from Vorasius to Sszorak, chosen the same way as before: across four ranked kills per boss, Sszorak took 100% of the raid's damage on its single biggest target every time — a cleaner stand-and-hit fight than the last tier offered. Dummy sessions compare against Heroic rather than Mythic for now, for the same reason the Mythic bracket is missing, so dummy parses read a little high until it comes back. If your curve file is still the previous tier's, nothing changes: the old anchor is kept as a fallback.

Saved data is roughly 6% smaller. Two values were recorded per player per fight that were exact copies of two others and were never read by anything.

Mists five-man healers stop pinning at 75. Dungeon healers on MoP were scored on raw HPS against pooled raid curves - the one comparison this addon knows is wrong for them - and then caught by the "nothing to heal" floor on every clean pull, so most dungeons graded the healer exactly 75 no matter how they played. Mists now scores five-man healers the way retail has since v2.10.0: on how much of the group's incoming damage they actually covered, against quartiles fitted from 99 real MoP dungeon healer-fights (MoP gets its own baselines because MoP groups self-heal far less - measured, not assumed). Healer damage in five-mans becomes context rather than a fifth of the grade, same as retail. Raid healing is untouched on both clients.

Potion healing now registers on retail. The potion list still ended at last season's consumables, so a Concentrated Silvermoon Health Potion (or a Demonic Healthstone) healed you and TrueParse recorded nothing - every retail capture showed zero potion healing, ever. Verified against ranked kill logs: those are the two things people actually press this tier, and both now count. Mists was never affected.
