Treant Speak

Speak the language of the greatest beings on Azeroth: Treants.

Welcome... to TREANT SPEAK!!!

Speak in Treant, Bear, Snowman, and more.

Thanks to Blizzard API changes, addons can no longer modify chat messages sent normally. The only way to modify chat messages is through using the built in SendChatMessage() script. Macros, custom text bars, etc., all allow this functionality to continue.

The best, most elegant workaround I came up with was slash commands. /t to say your message, /ty to yell, /tp for party, and /tg for guild. I'm unsure if guild or party still allow this functionality to continue, as I was unable to properly test.

How this addon works

This addon uses a custom text box that displays all translated text. You can turn on different translation modes (I've been unable to test if this functionality still works, but when I am able to, I will find a workaround if it doesn't). If you close this box, type /treant in the chatbar to open it up again. The and buttons can be used to adjust the size of the box.

By clicking on Settings, you can adjust how you see translated text. You can have it change inside the chatbar so you don't need to have the box open, show error messages such as ("You cannot speak this language"), and so on.

You can also change what languages you know,

By scrolling down in the Settings box, you can add or remove languages. Languages you don't know won't be translated, and you won't be able to speak in them.

In order to speak, you must activate a language by using the dropdown, or by type /lan language (where language is your desired language, i.e, Treant). When you have your language activated, you can speak in it by using /t, /ty, /tp, or /tg.

Future Plans

With other custom language addons mostly dead/nonexistent, I am planning to add a large host of languages to the addon, as well as options for accents, user defined languages, and so on. At the moment, Treant Speak does provide easy addon-expansion support. All planned features are listed below:

  • More languages
  • Support for Blizzard built-in-languages (i.e, dwarven, Thalassian, etc).
  • User-defined languages
  • Updated UI to fit a large amount of languages

THANKS!
