What's new

TomoDamageMeter 2.8.3

2.8.3 introduces a new Compact Combat Summary and reworks Damage Benchmark around Blizzard's native DPS values. Hovered player bars can now show a lightweight combat snapshot during fights, while Benchmark results more closely reflect the DPS reported by the game's own Damage Meter and handle protected values more gracefully.

Compact Combat Summary

[NEW] Added a new Compact Combat Summary when hovering player bars during combat.

[NEW] The compact overlay displays the player's name together with their current DPS or HPS and total output in a small, easy-to-read panel.

[CHANGED] Action-based meters use an even simpler presentation and display only their total value.

[CHANGED] The previous top-spell list and relative-output bar have been removed from the combat overlay to keep information focused and readable during encounters.

[CHANGED] The summary now uses a compact fixed layout with red accent lines and single-line text for better readability without covering too much of the screen.

[NEW] Added a dedicated Compact Combat Summary option, enabled by default.

[CHANGED] The compact summary follows the existing Bar Tooltips setting and disappears immediately when tooltips are disabled or the pointer leaves the player bar.

[CHANGED] Outside combat, normal unrestricted bar tooltips continue to use the existing detailed presentation.

Combat Summary — Performance

[CHANGED] The visible Combat Summary now refreshes approximately every 0.35 seconds for responsive updates without adding additional background polling.

[CHANGED] The summary reads directly from the currently displayed meter row, keeping the feature lightweight even during busy encounters.

Damage Benchmark — Native DPS

[CHANGED] Damage Benchmark now uses Blizzard's native average DPS from the active Damage Meter session instead of calculating DPS from total damage divided by elapsed time.

[CHANGED] Benchmark results now represent the game's own DPS snapshot at the selected 30, 60 or 120-second capture point.

[CHANGED] At the selected duration, TomoDamageMeter waits briefly for the next available DPS update before freezing the result.

[CHANGED] If no newer update becomes available, the latest valid DPS sample is used. Unavailable results are displayed as a dash instead of producing an incorrect value.

[FIXED] Benchmark tests now cancel cleanly if combat ends or the Damage Meter is reset before the selected test duration is reached, preventing incomplete results from being saved.

Benchmark — Simplified Results

[CHANGED] The Benchmark interface is now focused specifically on DPS snapshots.

[CHANGED] Total damage has been removed from the active Benchmark display and saved-history table.

[CHANGED] The DPS column has been widened to make Benchmark results easier to compare at a glance.

[CHANGED] Existing numeric Benchmark history is preserved when upgrading to 2.8.3.

Protected Benchmark Results

[NEW] Benchmark attempts can now still be recorded when WoW temporarily protects the DPS value.

[NEW] Character, specialization, equipped item level, duration and date are preserved even when the numeric DPS cannot be stored.

[CHANGED] When possible, a protected DPS value remains visible for the current UI session without being permanently saved.

[CHANGED] After a UI reload, protected attempts remain visible in Benchmark History with a localized Protected label instead of a missing or misleading DPS number.

[NEW] Up to five recent protected attempts can appear above ranked numeric results in the five-row history view.

[CHANGED] Protected attempts use an asterisk instead of a ranking number so they are clearly separated from persistent numeric results.

[CHANGED] Benchmark completion messages now clearly explain when an attempt was recorded but its protected DPS value is only available until the UI is reloaded.

Localization

[CHANGED] Compact Combat Summary labels and settings are localized across all nine supported locales.

[CHANGED] Benchmark waiting, completion and unavailable-data messages have been updated across all supported languages.

[NEW] Added a localized Protected status for Benchmark History entries whose DPS value cannot be stored.
