TokenCouncil

TokenCouncil: a WoW loot addon with no loot table. Drops go up automatically, raiders use tokens (each one is a roll), and the loot council votes on who gets the item. Fair, fast and in the classic WoW look. For Forever, Retail and Classic.

What's new

1.18.0 – Linked characters and 40-player raids (2026-10-13)

  • Alts tab in the ML panel: link a player's alts to their main. Linked characters share one token balance, one loot record, one guild bank row and one council seat; the raid's tokens are given once per player, whichever character comes. Reserved slots stay per character.
  • Linking shows the token math ("Mireya 3 + Mira 4 = 7") and offers to keep only the main's tokens. Unlinking leaves the tokens with the main. Also /tkc link Alt > Main, /tkc unlink Alt, /tkc links.
  • The token export lists each player once plus Alt Name -> Main Name lines; the import links the pairs again and adds up older exports that listed the characters separately.
  • New 20- and 40-player test runs (one with WoW Forever names, one with 8 late joiners, a boss fight mid-roll and an ML crash). Bugs they found, all fixed:
    • Raiders could promise the same token twice by clicking Use token on several drops before the ML answered.
    • The ML's refusal whispers queued ahead of its updates, so a 40-player raid fell 20+ s behind and council votes failed. Updates now go first, on two message lanes, and are packed much smaller.
    • False "No answer from the Master Looter" under load.
    • After an ML crash the raid's copy (~10 KB at 40 players) arrived too late, so drops since the last save were lost.
    • Full resyncs took ~30 s at 40 players; snapshots now skip finished drops that raiders already have.
  • Result at 40 players: every copy matches the ML 1–5 s after six timers end; the raid follows again 0.5 s after the ML's /reload loads.
  • Protocol 12: everyone needs 1.18.0. 487 automated checks pass.

1.17.1 – Solo session export fix

  • Fixed: after a session played solo (testing on your own, for example with items from your bags), the export lost the loot record (no […] after the names) or showed an older export.
  • The export of a solo session now keeps everyone's loot record. It says it's a solo session and never replaces the last raid's export used by Use last export.
  • End session no longer shows the "wasn't imported" warning in a solo session.
  • Works together with 1.17.0.

1.17.0 – Upgrade size and loot record

  • Everyone in the raid must update to 1.17.0: older versions can't join a 1.17 session.
  • New UPG column in the ML panel and the Council Vote window: how many item levels the drop adds over what the player wore in that slot when they used the token ("+13", "0", "−5", or "new" for an empty slot). Rings and trinkets are compared with the weaker of the two, a two-hander with the main hand. Hover for what they wear.
  • New LOOT column: "1 · 3" means 1 item won this raid and 3 in their last 4 raids with you. Only items won with tokens count (best roll, only token, council vote, the ML's own pick). Free mainspec rolls, offspec rolls and disenchants don't count. Hover for tonight's items and the earlier raids.
  • Everyone sees it: the Loot Board's raid list has a LOOT column, and its drop tooltips show upgrade size and loot. Tokens sitting on running items now show in brackets after LEFT.
  • The loot record travels in the token export: "Name = 5 [1, 0, 2, 0]" (items won in their last 4 raids, newest first). Players who were there get tonight added in front and the oldest raid drops off. Players who weren't keep theirs unchanged.
  • The last export is saved on the ML's computer when the raid ends. Use last export in the Import / Export tab fills it in, and the import preview shows each player's last 4 raids. End session warns if last raid's export wasn't imported.
  • The free roll is now called the free mainspec roll (button "Mainspec roll", My Loot "Roll (mainspec)").

1.16.1 – Role card fix

  • Loot Board: the Your role card no longer shows "reserved: Weapon +20" over the card's caption. It now shows the short form ("Weapon +20", "Off hand +20", or "pick a slot" while picking is open). Text that doesn't fit is cut short instead of overlapping.
  • Hover the Your role card for the details: your role, your reserved slot and which items get the bonus.
  • Works together with 1.16.0; only the look changed.

1.16.0 – Reserved slots

  • Everyone in the raid must update to 1.16.0: older versions can't join a 1.16 session.
  • New ML panel tab Reserved: Ask raid to pick shows a popup to everyone in the raid, the Master Looter included, to pick one gear slot for the raid (Head, Neck, Shoulders, Back, Chest, Wrists, Hands, Waist, Legs, Feet, Ring, Trinket, Weapon, Off hand / shield; in Classic also Ranged / relic).
  • When a player uses tokens on an item for their reserved slot, every roll gets the reserved slot bonus. The Master Looter sets it in Settings (default +20), so a roll of 20 counts as 40. The bonus counts for the best roll, ties and Hand to X.
  • Everyone sees the bonus. The ML panel and the Council Vote window show the roll that counts with "20+20" under it, the Loot Board shows "40 (20+20)" and raid chat says "40 (20 +20 reserved)". The hand-out history keeps it too.
  • The Loot Board's raid list has a SLOT column with everyone's pick. My Loot shows your reserved slot and marks drops for it, and the use-tokens popup shows the bonus.
  • Picks are final. The Master Looter can clear one pick, clear all, lock picks or turn reserved slots off, and Ask again shows the popup to everyone who hasn't picked yet. /tkc reserve opens the popup.
  • Free and offspec rolls get no bonus.

1.15.0 – Absent players stay in the token export

  • Players who weren't in the raid no longer fall off the token export. They are listed under "Not in this raid" with their banked tokens exactly as they were, so nothing has to be added by hand.
  • Absent players never get the raid's tokens added to their bank. Only players who were in the raid are exported with their standing when the raid ended (start tokens + banked – spent).
  • Importing: players in the raid get their banked tokens on top of the raid's tokens, as before. Players who aren't there get only their banked tokens, shown as "kept (not here)" in the preview, and are carried into the next export unchanged.
  • If an absent player joins later in the raid, they get the raid's tokens on top of their banked tokens, like any late joiner.
  • "Everyone gets n" only reaches the players in the raid. Importing again or Undo import takes out players the import added who never showed up.
  • The export still works after the session has ended (End session, /tkc stop or /tkc export).
  • Only the Master Looter needs 1.15.0.

1.14.1 – Full names only

  • Players are always told apart by their full name (First Last), never by the first name alone, so two players who share a first name can never get each other's tokens.
  • Slash commands need the full name: /tkc set Tree Boggler 2 (upper or lower case doesn't matter). /tkc set Tree 2 is refused and lists the players called Tree. The same goes for /tkc give and /tkc council.
  • The token import reads full names only. A line with just a first name is left out and shown in red in the preview ("full name needed").
  • When the game splits a name like a realm ("Tree-Boggler"), the addon puts it back together instead of cutting it down to "Tree".
  • A raid member whose surname the game hasn't given yet is left out of the raid list until it has (checked every second) instead of being filed under the first name. /tkc debug shows who is still waiting.
  • Only the Master Looter needs 1.14.1; raiders on 1.14.0 or 1.13.0 can still join.

1.14.0 – Token export and banked tokens

  • End of the raid: End session in the ML panel (or /tkc stop) opens the Token export – every player in the ledger with their tokens, one "Name = tokens" line each (0 included), plus a total. The text is already selected: press Ctrl+C and paste it into a text file, Discord or a note.
  • The export can be opened any time with Export tokens… in the new Import / Export tab or /tkc export.
  • Next raid: start the raid exactly as before (clean or with the ledger). Then paste last raid's export in ML panel → Import / Export and click Add banked tokens (a popup asks first). Every player listed gets those tokens on top of the raid's tokens: 3 each + 4 banked = 7; a player with 0 keeps the 3.
  • A preview lists each player with their banked tokens and what happens: "+n now", or "when they join" for players who aren't in the raid yet – they get the raid's tokens plus their banked tokens when they join.
  • Importing again replaces the earlier import, so nothing is added twice; Undo import takes it all back off. "Everyone gets n" in the Tokens tab keeps the banked tokens on top, and the guild rank bonus still applies.
  • Pasted text is read loosely: "Name = 5", "Name: 5", "Name 5" or tabs from a spreadsheet, full or unique first names; lines starting with # are skipped. The audit log shows "Banked tokens (import)".
  • The ML panel tabs are now Session, Tokens, Council, History, Bank, Import / Export, Settings.
  • Only the Master Looter needs 1.14.0; raiders on 1.13.0 can still join.

1.13.0 – Bank dues on the Loot Board

  • Everyone can now see what they owe the guild bank: the Loot Board has a new Guild bank card with the gold you owe (and the share, e.g. 25% of vendor price), or "all paid".
  • The raid list on the Loot Board has a BANK column with what every player still owes, or "paid". Hover a player to see this raid's amount and what was paid.
  • The numbers update for the whole raid whenever the ML hands out an item, marks someone as paid, or changes the share. Players who reload or join late get them too.
  • The Loot Board is a bit wider to make room.
  • Raiders need 1.13.0 to see the bank amounts; 1.12.0 players can still join, they just don't see them.

1.12.0 – Offspec roll and guild bank dues

  • Everyone in the raid must update to 1.12.0: older versions can't join a 1.12 session.
  • Offspec roll: the ML can start an offspec roll on a pending drop or on an item nobody used a token on. It's a free roll for everyone: raiders click Roll (offspec) or Pass, it costs no tokens, and the highest roll is suggested. It is announced as an offspec roll and shows as "offspec roll" in History.
  • New Bank tab in the ML panel: per player, the items they received, their vendor value, what they owe the guild bank, what they paid and what is still to pay. Switch between This raid and Everything.
  • New setting: Guild bank share of vendor price (0–100 %, default 100 = the full vendor price).
  • Mark paid (with a confirmation) locks a player's current dues as paid; later share changes only affect unpaid items. Undo takes a payment back off. Hover a player for each item's vendor price.
  • Fix: a late "receives loot" message for an item that was already handed out no longer lists it again as a new drop.

1.11.0 – Guild rank bonus

  • New in ML panel → Settings: Guild ranks… lists every rank of the ML's guild and how many of each are in the raid. Type extra tokens per rank, for example Officer +2, Raider +1.
  • The extra comes on top of the raid's amount whenever a player gets it: a clean start, a new player when starting with the ledger, a late joiner, or "everyone gets n" in the Tokens tab. With 3 each, officers get 5 and raiders 4.
  • The start popup shows the bonus, the audit log has it on its own line ("Guild rank bonus (Officer)"), and the raid announcement mentions it.
  • Players outside the guild get no bonus; a bonus set up for another guild is not used.
  • Only the Master Looter needs 1.11.0; raiders on 1.10.0 can still join.

1.10.0 – Pending loot, the ML starts each roll

  • Everyone in the raid must update to 1.10.0: older versions can't join a 1.10 session.
  • Drops no longer start rolling by themselves when the ML opens the loot. Each drop is listed as Pending, and the ML presses Start roll when ready, one item at a time, so raiders' tokens aren't tied up on several items at once.
  • New Pending loot strip at the top of My Loot: icons of everything that dropped and is waiting, so raiders can already decide what they want. Hover an icon for the item; My Loot opens quietly when new loot is listed.
  • ML panel: pending drops are listed after the running ones, with Start roll, Hand to…, Disenchant and Remove. After a hand-out the panel jumps to the next pending drop. In the loot window strip, Start starts that slot's roll.
  • The Loot Board shows pending drops as "Pending – ML starts the roll".
  • Settings: "Start the roll on drops at once" brings back the old behaviour (off by default). Put up and /tkc add still start the roll right away.
  • Fix: other queued addon messages can no longer hold back the ML's updates, so a roll start reaches raiders without delay during busy moments.

1.9.0 – Losers always get their tokens back

  • Everyone who used tokens on an item but didn't win it gets all of them back as soon as the ML hands it out, however it was decided: best roll, council vote, Hand to… or disenchant (which refunds everyone). Only the winner's tokens stay spent.
  • Tokens are still taken when the timer ends, so they can't be used on another item at the same time, and come back at hand-out.
  • The hand-out popup always shows how many tokens go back; refunds are announced in raid chat, written to the audit log and shown in My Loot, on the Loot Board and in History.
  • Texts in the ML panel, My Loot, the use-tokens popup and the Loot Board now explain the new rule.

1.8.2 – Clean council vote window

  • The Council Vote window uses the same one-line layout as the ML panel: Player, Highest roll, Tokens used, Tokens left, Note, Votes and the Vote button.
  • Only the highest roll is shown in the row, not every roll.
  • Notes are cut short to fit; hover a note to see the full message in a box at your mouse.
  • Hover a player's line to see their class, all rolls, tokens left, the full note and their equipped items with item level. The equipped-icons column is gone.
  • The item line no longer overlaps "You have not voted yet" and now reads "1 player rolled".

1.8.1 – Clean ML panel rows

  • The ML panel's player list is one line per player: Player, Highest roll, Tokens used, Tokens left, Note, Votes, Voters and Hand out.
  • Only the highest roll is shown, so no more "x16 89 72 71…" in the note column.
  • Notes are cut short; hover them for the full message at your mouse.
  • Hover a row for all rolls, tokens left, the full note and who voted. Refunded players show "tokens used" in green.

1.8.0 – Council vote on demand, refunds, token limit, raid history

  • Everyone in the raid must update to 1.8.x: older versions can't join a 1.8 session.
  • The council no longer pops up on every drop. When several players roll, the item shows as Rolled and the ML chooses: hand to the best roll (tokens stay spent), start a Council vote for that item only, Hand to…, or Cancel & refund. Stop vote returns it to the ML with no refunds.
  • Council refunds: when the ML hands out an item during a council vote, every other player who used tokens on it gets them all back; only the winner's tokens stay spent. Shown in the hand-out popup, raid chat, the audit log, My Loot, the Loot Board and History.
  • Max tokens per item: a setting in ML panel → Settings (0 = no limit), saved for the whole raid, announced in raid chat and enforced in the use-tokens popup.
  • Raid history tab on the Loot Board: everything handed out this raid, newest first, with time, item, winner and roll, how it was decided, refunds and what it cost. Your own wins are highlighted; works for late joiners too.

After 1.7.0 – Logo

  • New round TokenCouncil logo, used as the addon icon in the game's addon list.

1.7.0 – Classic look

  • All windows now use the classic WoW interface: gold-trimmed frames with a title banner, red buttons, gold checkboxes, the game's input boxes, timer bars and sounds.
  • Popups look like the game's own confirmation dialogs.
  • New addon logo, shown as the icon in the AddOns list.
  • Works together with 1.6.1 – nothing changed in how the addon works.

1.6.1 – WoW Forever: your own name

  • Fixed: raiders didn't see the tokens the Master Looter gave them.
  • Fixed: after passing on an item, the buttons came back after a few seconds.
  • The addon now checks how the game names you, so tokens, passes and rolls always match.

1.6.0 – WoW Forever support and connection status

  • Support for WoW Forever's two-part names ("First Last"). Before this, raiders didn't get the session, the loot popup or their tokens, and whispers failed with "player currently offline".
  • Popup for the Master Looter listing players with another version or without the addon; raiders on another version get a popup too.
  • Tokens tab: a coloured light per player (connected, not yet, other version, no addon).
  • My Loot shows whether you're connected to the Master Looter's session.
  • The session is sent again automatically to anyone who missed it.
  • Messages the game refuses are retried and reported instead of silently lost.
  • A session left over from testing alone no longer starts again in someone else's raid.
  • /tkc debug shows more information for bug reports.

1.5.0 – Raid checked every second

  • The raid is checked every second: new players get their tokens and the session right away, even when the game is slow to report them.
  • Warning when raid lead moves away from the Master Looter; the new raid leader can't start a second session.

1.4.1 – Clean slate

  • Resetting the ledger now also clears the audit log and handout history.

1.4.0 – Final tokens and start choice

  • Tokens on an item are final: you can add more, but not take them back.
  • Starting a session asks: Reset & start clean or Start with ledger.
  • New Reset ledger button and /tkc reset.

1.3.1

  • My Loot shows the newest drop at the top.

1.3.0 – Several tokens per item

  • Confirmation before using tokens.
  • Use 1, 2, 3 or all your tokens on one item; each token is one roll and your best roll counts.

1.2.x – Fixes from the first raids

  • Master Looter panel no longer disappears when converting a party to a raid.
  • Raiders now get the loot popup and their tokens after converting to a raid.
  • "Put up" works with shift-clicked items in the newest clients.
  • Addon check: the raid leader sees who doesn't have the addon (/tkc check).

1.2.0 – Minimap and free rolls

  • Minimap button with a menu to open each window.
  • The Master Looter panel is for the raid leader only.
  • My Loot pops up for everyone when loot drops.
  • Free roll (Roll / Pass) when nobody used a token – costs no tokens.

1.1.x – No loot table

  • Every equipment drop goes up by itself – no loot table needed.
  • Tokens are set by the raid leader before the raid; boss kills give none.
  • Everyone with a token on an item rolls when the timer ends; the council votes; the Master Looter hands it out.
  • Choose whether grey, white, green and blue items go up.

1.0 – First version

  • Token-based loot council with Master Looter panel, Loot Board, My Loot and Council Vote windows.
