# Timeline

**Your adventures, written down for you, in a lore book you can read years from now.**

Timeline runs quietly in the background and records your journey through World of Warcraft: what you achieved, where you went, what you defeated, and who you did it with. Type `/timeline` to open each character's lore book, built from Blizzard's own art so it feels like part of the game.

It doesn't start on install day either. On first login it reads every achievement you've already earned, with its date, so your story goes back years.

## The lore book

- **Cover:** your character in 3D, with their title, guild, a few lines of lore (where you call home, your closest companion, where you fall most often) and **On this day**, which shows what happened on today's date in earlier years.
- **The Story:** your journey, one chapter per expansion with that expansion's art behind it. Big moments get cards, dungeons and raids show their Adventure Journal art, and smaller things fold into one line per day.
- **Highlights:** only the moments that shaped you: first kills, titles, legendaries, homes, big keys, Exalted reputations and gold milestones.
- **Companions:** everyone who crossed your path: where and when you met, how long you played together, and the dungeons, bosses and keys you shared. Add notes and tags to anyone.
- **Travels:** every zone you've set foot in, the day you first arrived, and every dungeon, raid and delve you've entered.
- **Foes:** every boss you've defeated and how many times, your battleground and arena record, and your best key in each dungeon.
- **Collections:** the mounts, pets, toys and housing decor you've gained.
- **Statistics:** your most visited NPCs, most repeated quests and most dangerous places, plus every Blizzard statistic, showing how much it has grown.
- **Album:** the screenshots you chose to keep, by year.
- **Year in Review:** a spread for each year with its numbers, a calendar heatmap, the year's best moments and your closest companion. **Share** turns it into text you can copy.

## Screenshots, your way

After each screenshot a small box asks **"Add this screenshot to your timeline?"** Ignore it and it disappears. Timeline can also take its own photo at your biggest moments (every tenth level, raid first kills, legendaries, a new home) and of each new transmog look. All of this can be turned off.

## Write your own story

**Write** adds your own entry where you are right now, or type `/timeline note ...` without opening the book. A mount or legendary that drops right after a boss remembers how long it took: *"after 23 kills of Mimiron"*.
