THIS ADDON HAS BEEN CREATED WITH AI - It is mostly for me and my wife.
# Smitten 💕
Little hearts float up off your player portrait and fade away whenever someone special is close by. It's a small, cosy touch that stays out of the way of the rest of your UI.
## Features
- **Floating hearts:** soft pink hearts drift out from behind your portrait, sway gently and fade out while your person is within range.
- **Your range:** choose how close counts as "near", in yards.
- **Heart buff (optional):** a heart icon sits at the end of your buff row while they're near. Hover it to see who's nearby.
- **Nameplate glow (optional):** a pink glow on their nameplate so you can find them in a crowd. Switch each part on or off: border, heart above them, and pulse.
- **Fits your UI:** the hearts fade with your player frame and the buff fades with your buff bar, so mouseover or combat-only setups just work.
- **Right now readout:** the options window shows what Smitten can see for each person ("18 yds away", "out of range", "not found nearby") so you always know why it is or isn't showing.
- **Lightweight:** it only checks twice a second and does almost nothing when nobody is listed.
## How to use
1. Type `/hearts` (or `/smitten`).
2. Enter their character as `Name-Realm`, e.g. `Whataburger-Area52`. Add more people with commas.
3. Set **Within (yards)** and tick the extras you want.
4. Click **Save**. Hit **Preview** any time to see it in action.
Only you need Smitten installed. The other person doesn't.
## Good to know
- **Distance:** when you're grouped in the open world, distance is exact. Otherwise WoW only gives addons rough steps (about 10, 28 and 40 yards), so Smitten uses the closest step.
- **Combat:** if WoW hides distances in combat, Smitten keeps showing whatever it was showing until it can tell again, so nothing flickers on and off.
- **Glow:** it needs friendly player nameplates turned on, and there's a checkbox for that in the options. Blizzard blocks friendly nameplates in dungeons and raids, so the glow is open-world only. The hearts and buff still work there.
- **Player frame:** the hearts follow Blizzard's default player frame. If another addon replaces it, they won't show.
- **Character outline:** addons can't outline a character model, so the glow goes on their nameplate instead.
