The Unwritten Chapters

The Unwritten Chapters is a passion project built to bring back the feeling of stepping into the unknown. It adds new, lore-friendly narrative questlines, hidden NPC encounters, and mysteries across the world, giving life and meaning to the forgotten and lesser known places in Azeroth.

This addon is purely about story, exploration, and giving you a reason to slow down and immerse yourself in the quests again.  

There are 19 quests across 3 zones:  Azshara, Deadwind Pass and Badlands. All quests are faction neutral. Future updates will include more faction neutral questlines, with Alliance / Horde only questlines at a later date.

What's in The Unwritten Chapters?

Quests

Questlines are broken down into multi-stage parts where you are encouraged to read the quest text and immerse yourself in the various lore bits the addon provides.  This is not a race to the finish line, some quests are hidden and will be discovered simply by exploring the world. 

Quests are manually authored and time is taken to craft them with the utmost respect for Classic Era Lore.

Intuitive Interaction Design

When you are within radius of an addon NPC or Event, you will see a familiar icon appear. Clicking it will open the NPC dialogue window or trigger the Event.  This is how you interact with the world. 

All icons and UI frames are moveable, only one Interaction icon will appear at a time.  You do not need to worry about cluttering the screen.

Addon Inventory

The addon Inventory screen holds items you will find on your adventures, keeping them organized without taking up your regular bag space.

3D Models for Addon NPCs

Using the in-game API, interacting with addon NPCs displays their animated 3D model right beside their dialogue window.

Immersive Sound and Animation
Certain interactions will play audio cues and trigger in-game character animations to make conversations and moments feel alive.

Unwritten Archives

Each piece of lore and addon NPC is stored inside the Archives section of the main window. Once you've encountered an NPC, read a lore bit, or examined an addon item, it is preserved in the Archives so you can hold onto the memories and revisit them whenever you want.

Party and Raid Sync

Team up with other addon users to share kill progress on certain quests, mimicking classic party-oriented quest mechanics.

Optional  Map Pins

While it is recommended to play The Unwritten Chapters without map markers, for those who want a guided tour, you can enable map pins to display available quests   !  and turn-in markers   ?  on your map and minimap.  *a few quests are purposely without markers*

Nearby Addon Users

The addon will automatically detect other users in the same zone. When someone is nearby, a non-invasive icon will appear on your screen (a yellow silhouette). Clicking it displays a list of nearby players so you can team up and invite them on adventures! (Can be toggled off in settings). 

Hardcore compatible

The Unwritten Chapters was designed to be 100% accessible to Hardcore players. There will never be content within the addon that requires you die. 

Export and Import

You can back up your progress through the settings menu of the addon and import it should you change computers or reinstall the game.

Adjust text size, window scale, background opacity, map markers and access other useful options in the settings menu.

Is this safe / ToS compliant?

Yes, 100%.  This addon follows Blizzard's UI and AddOn policies strictly. It does not tamper with game files, inject external code, grant stats, or hand out real in-game gold or items. Everything it does is client-side through standard WoW Lua and UI frames. 

HOW TO USE:

On the mini map you will see a book icon. 

• Left-click opens the Main Window.
• Right-click opens addon inventory
• Shift-left-click opens the active quest log

Slash Commands

/tuc — Opens / toggles the main window
/tuc inv — Jumps straight to your Story Inventory
/tuc quests — Opens your active quest log
/tuc resetui — Snaps the window back to default if it gets lost off-screen
/tuc debug on|off — Toggles diagnostic chat output if you run into an issue
