What's new

Two new zones, more quests along the 30-70 route, training costs, and pet and demon skill advice.

Install

  1. Download TBCGuide-0.9.2.zip below.
  2. Close World of Warcraft, delete your old Interface\AddOns\TBCGuide folder, and extract the zip into Interface\AddOns. The zip already contains the TBCGuide folder.
  3. Start the game. Your guide progress, settings and profiles are kept, including your place in guides that changed.

Pre-release: nothing new in 0.9.2 has been run in the game client yet. It passes every offline check, including 4,206 headless tests under a real Lua 5.1 interpreter. Please report anything odd.

New zones

  • Winterspring (both factions, about 54-56): through the Timbermaw tunnel from Felwood, with Everlook's yeti and Shardtooth hunts, the Winterfall furbolgs, and an Alliance-only wildkin chain.
  • Swamp of Sorrows (Horde, about 39-41): Stonard and the Misty Reed Strand, between Stranglethorn and Dustwallow.

More quests on the route

  • Dustwallow: the Mudsprocket loop for both factions.
  • Tanaris: Andre Firebeard, plus two optional quests that unlock at 43-44.
  • Un'Goro: Shizzle's Flyer, the bloodpetal quests and Finding the Source.
  • Horde Hinterlands: the Revantusk board.
  • Terokkar: Warden Treelos and the Cabal quests near Auchindoun.
  • Nagrand: Aeris Landing and Wazat, plus the Sunspring quests for Alliance.

TBCGuide's route model now estimates about 10.5 (Alliance) and 9.4 (Horde) levels of grinding between 30 and 58, down from about 12. That's an estimate, not a measured play time; where quests still fall short, the guide tells you which level to reach before moving on.

Training costs

Train steps now show what each spell costs and a total:

  • Where prices come from: the class trainer you have open, or what a trainer charged you before, labelled "last seen".
  • Unknown prices: a total with unknown prices is marked partial.
  • Affordability: a complete total says whether you can afford it.
  • Never buys: nothing is bought.

Pet and demon skills

/tbcg pet (also on train steps):

  • Hunters: what your active pet can still learn, by family and pet level. Training-point costs appear once you open Beast Training. TBCGuide never tames, stables or abandons pets.
  • Warlocks: the Grimoires your demons still need, with level and base price, marked when one is already in your bags. Summon each demon once so TBCGuide can see what it knows. TBCGuide never buys or uses Grimoires.

Assassination talent plan

The Assassination profile now follows Wowhead's TBC Assassination leveling build:

  • Levels 10-60: TBCGuide's own order towards Wowhead's level-60 build, with Mutilate at 50.
  • Levels 61-69: Wowhead's own order.
  • Level 70: one final point instead of the respec Wowhead suggests.
