Steps adds a lightweight, always-on step counter to World of Warcraft. It shows how many steps your character has taken in total and this session, updating as you move. The addon can read a Blizzard statistic if one exists on your client, or—when none is available—estimates steps from your movement in the world using your character’s position over time.
A visible, movable display that shows two numbers: a running Total and a Session counter that resets when you want. You can show/hide the widget, lock it in place, and it remembers where you put it between logins. This turns everyday travel into a mini-game: “How many steps to Orgrimmar’s gates? To the top of Mount Hyjal?”
Automatic step tracking while you explore. No clicking required. Just walk, and the number climbs. In open-world play the counter ticks up continuously; in certain instanced contexts where the game API doesn’t provide positions, the addon simply pauses until valid positions return, avoiding jitter or bogus counts.
Session goals and personal challenges. Because the Session value is separate from the Total, players can set ad-hoc goals—“2,000 steps before I hearth”—or run daily walking challenges with friends, stream viewers, or guildmates.
