Stagehand

Stagehand is a shared scene tracker for our guild's RP combat system. It keeps a list of who's involved and what's currently affecting them and shares that with everyone else in the scene.

Players at the top, NPCs below the line. Each one gets an icon, a name, and up to five effects. An effect is an icon, a name, a number from 1 to 3, and a color: green if it's helping, red if it's hurting. Poisoned 2. Blessed 1. The wolf is Enraged 3.

No dice, decisions, or anything else. Mostly a whiteboard.

Sharing a scene

Stagehand talks to other copies of itself over the game's addon channels, so everyone who wants in needs it installed.

Click Share and the scene is offered to your party or raid, and to whoever you're targeting. They get a prompt, they accept, and from then on you're both looking at the same list. Everyone can edit it. If two people change the same thing at once, the later change wins, and nothing else is disturbed. You can also export scenes.

Copies check in with each other periodically, so someone who reloads or logs in late catches up on their own.

Using it

/stagehand opens the window. Everything else happens in the window.

• The menu at the top left holds your scenes: switch between them, add one, rename, delete, export, import.
• The plus button adds an actor. The small plus on a row adds an effect to that actor.
• Click a portrait or a name to edit that actor. Click an effect to edit it. Both dialogs have a Delete button.
• Roll the mouse wheel over an effect to bump its number up or down without opening anything.
• Drag actors to reorder them. Drag one far enough and it changes side: a player becomes an NPC or the other way.
• Effects can carry a short note if you want.

Picking an icon opens a search box with every icon in the game behind it, so you can type "wolf" or "poison" instead of scrolling. LibRPMedia is bundled for the icon search. LibSharedMedia is used if you already have it and ignored if you don't.

Options

The gear next to the close button. You can turn the selection border off, change its color, change the colors used for helpful and harmful numbers, and set the font, size and outline of the numbers. If you have SharedMedia installed, your whole font collection shows up in the list.

Other commands

/stagehand dump prints a summary of the current scene to chat, and /stagehand dump all does every scene. /stagehand debug turns on sync details if something looks wrong. /stagehand help lists them.
