What's new

SpoonardsJournal v0.7.4

Changes since v0.7.1

Character-aware banter

Character banter can now take the player's class, race, gender and faction into account.

Support has been added for all nine Burning Crusade classes and all ten playable Burning Crusade races, with additional Alliance, Horde, male and female character lines.

Each identity layer can be enabled or disabled separately, and identity flavour can be set to Subtle, Normal or Strong.

These lines remain occasional Easter eggs rather than replacing normal character dialogue.

Expanded dialogue

The spoken dialogue library has been expanded considerably.

New and expanded reactions include low health, critical health, low mana, falling, death, resurrection, finishing combat, boss victories, boss wipes, boss abilities, Druid forms, discoveries and character-specific reactions.

The addon now contains 1,192 built-in spoken/discovery lines before any player-created custom dialogue is included.

Random situational comments

Characters can now occasionally comment on their current situation even when a normal event has not triggered a line.

Possible situations include resting in an inn or city, travelling alone, travelling with a group, being inside an instance, looking at a friendly or hostile NPC, recovering from low health or mana, and simply spending time in the current zone or sub-zone.

These comments only attempt to trigger out of combat and use long random intervals to prevent constant chatter.

They can be controlled with:

/sj banter situational on

/sj banter situational off

/sj banter situational preview

The trigger chance can also be changed:

/sj banter situationchance <1-100>

Health and mana triggers

Players can now choose the exact percentage at which banter reacts to low health, critical health and low mana.

A new Health & Mana window is available through Advanced Banter Settings.

Commands are also available:

/sj banter healthat <1-99>

/sj banter criticalat <1-99>

/sj banter manaat <1-99>

The addon automatically keeps the critical-health setting below the normal low-health setting.

Outdoor /say improvements

The previous large outdoor confirmation window has been replaced.

Outdoor banter now appears as a small temporary click-to-say strip near the chat area.

One click sends the prepared line, hovering shows the full line, the strip automatically disappears after a short period, and it can be dismissed immediately with the close button.

The prompt also hides when combat begins instead of remaining over the fight. If the pending comment is still relevant when combat ends, it can return afterwards.

Instance /say can still remain fully automatic.

Banter customisation

The existing spoken personality system remains available:

Mixed, Grounded, Dry, Cheeky and Dramatic.

Frequency can still be set to Rare, Normal or Chatty.

Players can separately control instance speech, outdoor speech, discoveries, danger reactions, low health, low mana, Druid forms, combat-end reactions, resurrection, boss reactions, situational remarks, identity flavour and personal Easter eggs.

Custom player-written lines are still supported.

Boss alerts

Automatic boss-warning /say can use either a plain mechanic warning or the selected character personality.

Character-style warnings respect the normal banter frequency and anti-spam controls.

Journal interface

The main Journal has received a visual refresh while keeping the familiar layout.

The header now has a stronger book-style appearance, the leather and parchment contrast has been improved, selected tabs have a gold underline, selected adventures have a clearer gold marker, and the reading panel has a more defined journal-page appearance.

The adventure sidebar has also been renamed Adventure Archive.

Setup

The introduction/setup wizard has been updated again to include random situational banter alongside the existing personality and identity options.

Existing Chronicle history and SavedVariables remain compatible when updating from v0.7.1.
