Cooldown Tracker (SMT)

Track your raid and party’s major cooldowns in real time with clean, per-player timers for better coordination and planning.

SmartCooldownTracker

Know what’s on cooldown before you need it. SmartCooldownTracker shows your group’s major raid and defensive cooldowns in one clean window—who used what, and how long until it’s ready again.

What it does

In raids and parties, important abilities (Bloodlust, battle resurrects, tank cooldowns, healer cooldowns, and more) matter for planning pulls and surviving mechanics. This addon tracks those abilities for everyone in your group and displays them as easy-to-read bars with timers.

You see each tracked spell per player, so three Druids means three separate Battle Rez (Rebirth) timers—not one shared blob.

Your teammates do not need to install anything. Tracking uses information your game already receives when abilities are used. Only you need the addon for the window and timers on your screen.

Main features

Tracking and display

The addon watches major TBC raid-relevant cooldowns—things like Bloodlust/Heroism, battle resurrections, big tank and healer buttons, and similar abilities. For each spell you get a bar with a live timer so you can see at a glance how long until it comes back.

Timers are per player. If you have several people of the same class, you see one row per person per spell (for example three separate Rebirth cooldowns for three Druids), not a single merged entry.

Organizing the window

Three sections—Raid, Tank, and Healer—group spells by role so you can find what you need quickly. Each section has a collapse control so you can hide an entire block (e.g. only expand Healer while learning a healing-heavy fight).

When the roster is large, the list scrolls instead of stretching off your screen. You can also switch to “show active cooldowns only” so ready spells disappear and only abilities currently on cooldown stay visible—useful when the panel would otherwise feel crowded.

Party and raid chat

Automatic announcements (optional): When anyone in your party or raid uses a tracked cooldown—including you—the addon can send a short message to party or raid chat (for example who used which ability and roughly how long the cooldown is). That helps the whole group stay informed without calling every button in voice. You can turn this on or off in the options under Chat.

Manual share: Left-click a bar to post that player’s current status for that spell (ready or time left) to party or raid. That’s separate from the automatic “on use” line—it’s for when you want to answer “who has X?” in chat on demand.

Customization

In the options you can enable or disable individual spells, change bar size, spacing, and layout (vertical or horizontal, compact modes), and give spells custom display names (raid slang or short labels) so the list matches how your team talks.

Minimap and tools

A minimap button gives quick access to the options panel and window toggles (you can drag it to a comfortable spot on the ring). Test mode fills the UI with a sample raid-style layout so you can tune the look without being in a group. The interface is available in English and German.

Getting started

  1. Install the addon and log in.
  2. Join a party or raid—the list fills based on who’s there and which classes can use each spell.
  3. Drag the title bar to move the window (unlock first if you locked it).
  4. Open Interface → AddOns → SmartCooldownTracker (or use the minimap / /sct options) to tweak appearance and which spells are enabled.

Active cooldowns can persist across /reload so you don’t lose timers after a UI reload.

Slash commands

Type /sct or /smartcooldowntracker for the full command list (/scb and /ct also work). Common ones:

Command Purpose
/sct options Open the options panel
/sct lock / /sct unlock Lock or unlock the window for moving
/sct test Toggle test mode
/sct hideready Toggle “active cooldowns only”
/sct announce Toggle automatic party/raid messages when tracked cooldowns are used
/sct scale 1.2 Set window scale (0.5–2.0)

Supported game version

Built for The Burning Crusade Classic (Anniversary / compatible 20505 interface).

Limitations (good to know)

  • Timers are based on what your client sees in combat events. If someone is out of range or not reported to your client, you may not get their casts.
  • Cooldowns are tracked from successful casts of the spells in the addon’s list—not every possible item or ability in the game.

Feedback

If something breaks after a patch or you want a spell added for your guild’s strat, leave a comment on the project page—constructive reports help everyone.

Enjoy cleaner pulls and fewer “did we have lust?” moments.
