SaltyDog-0.9.8.2-forever
What's new
2026-10-22 — 0.9.8.2
New: the skill line on the Fish Session and Zones tabs now reads
skill(+bonus)/max / zone level. The zone's fishing level is coloured by your effective skill:- red: can't catch anything here yet
- yellow: many fish get away
- green: you can fish here
- blue: 100% catch rate
Hover the skill line for the details. Forever's new areas show a grey
-until their levels are known.Fixed: the Wilhelm scream ignored your sound settings and played at full volume. It now follows the game's Sound Effects volume and mute.
Version 0.9.8.1 → 0.9.8.2 in all
.tocfiles and the splash screen. Not tested in a live client (no Forever client installed); checked offline (Lua 5.1 compile, zone-level stub test).
Details (ported from _classic)
- Zone levels: not confirmed for Forever. The zone values are Classic's: the 100%-catch skill per zone, with nothing caught below that value − 95. Forever keeps zone levels on the server, and guides currently assume the Classic values (classicwowforever.com: "Zone skill levels live on the server, so they aren't confirmed for Forever yet"). If Forever turns out to use different numbers or no getaways, only the tables in
FishingSkillTracker.luaneed changing.- Forever-only areas have no value and show a grey
-: Mount Hyjal, Riverglades, Shen'dralas, Zephras Isle, and Dalaran in Alterac Mountains. - Code:
ZONE_LEVELS,SUBZONE_LEVELS,GetZoneFishingLevel,GetZoneStatus,FormatSkillLineandAddZoneTooltipLinesinSaltyDog_Fish/FishingSkillTracker.lua.SessionPage.luaandZonesPage.luause them, and the Zones tab got the skill tooltip. Areas are keyed by AreaTable ID, with names localized throughC_Map.GetAreaInfoand the English name as fallback.
- Forever-only areas have no value and show a grey
- Skill source: Forever runs the mainline client with the modern profession UI, so
GetProfessions()stays the primary source. In case it has no Fishing entry, the legacy skill-line lookup (SaltyDog.Utils:GetSkillLineByName,GetNumSkillLines/GetSkillLineInfo) now serves as a fallback inFish.DB:GetFishingSkill. The skill tooltip no longer depends onGetProfessions(). - Wilhelm: the 4
PlaySoundFile(..., "Master")calls now use"SFX"(warcraft.wiki.ggPlaySoundFile). - API checked against the Forever beta API dump (Thunderz96/forever-addon-kit
data/forever_api.json):GetProfessions,GetProfessionInfo,GetNumSkillLines,GetSkillLineInfo,ExpandSkillHeader,GetSubZoneText,GetRealZoneText,C_Map.GetAreaInfo,C_Spell.GetSpellName,PlaySoundFile. All are present.
