A simple to use mod to manage using appropriate (random) mounts in the right places with minimal configuration.

A simple to use mod to manage using appropriate (random) mounts in the right places with minimal configuration. Also provides seamless support for Druid's Aquatic (Seal) Form and (Swift) Flight Form and Worgen's Running Wild as well as support for using 'bug' mounts in Ahn'Qiraj (40 Man) if available.

Features:

  • Automatic handling of when to use land, sea, air and Ahn'qiraj mounts.
  • Structured randomization to avoid a string of the same mount with no variation.
  • Simple configuration.
  • Works with newly added mounts without requiring a new version download.
  • Proper detection of whether you are submerged or on the surface of water and will pick the appropriate mount.
  • Built-in handling of druid's flight form when moving or falling.
  • Handling of tradeskill-restricted mounts so as to not try and use them by characters who lack the tradeskill.
  • No always-running scripts to slow your game down.

Configuration:

All configuration is done inside of the default Mount And Pets Journal and when you open it you will see the Sally Forth configuration. Initially a keybinding must be set for (dis)mounting by left-clicking on the binding box (upper right corner) then chosing a key combination followed by enter or left-clicking again to lock in the hotkey(s). This need only be done once for each set of character keybinds (applies to all characters if you use one hotkey layout). You can cancel binding mode by using the ESCape key.

For each character, you can select the mounts available for random selection by ticking the checkboxes for each locale by each mount in the list as well as an option to enable (or disable) all mounts at once. New mounts are added to the list as disabled by default and must be enabled manually before they will be used by the mod.

For Druids: Your flight form (should you have it) will be included in the flying mount selection if enabled and configuration is provided by a button in the lower right corner of the mount journal. If you are moving when the mount hotkey is used, you will automatically use (Swift) Flight Form if enabled over any other choices and, if falling your flight form will always be selected so long as you have set it as an eligible choice to prevent a squishy demise. The same 'when moving' effect also applies to Aquatic Form when underwater.

For Worgen: Your Running Wild (should you have it) will be included in the ground mount selection if enabled and configuration is provided bya button in the lower right corner of the mount journal.

Note: If for any reason the mount database has issues (an unknown mount or if a mount is altered by Blizzard in the future such as when they allowed certain flying mounts to be used on the ground as 'land' mounts), then you can use /sally reset to rebuild the database with the new changes.

Frequently Asked* Questions

Are there any areas where the mod will not work as expected?

There should not be, the mod will even detect whether you are on the water's surface or submerged in cases with it is an issue (such as trying to summon a flying mount to get out of the place on the surface of Vashj'ir).

How random is the randomization for mounts?

As random as any pseudo-random computer implementaion can be. To help with this, the mod adds all selected mods of the appropriate type to a list and randomly selects form this list until all mounts have been chosen once. The list is then re-randomized for the next go thus insuring you'll never get the same mount more than twice in a row.

What will happen if I have no flying mounts or the appropriate license to fly in an area?

If you lack flyers or, for example, are in Northrend without Cold Weather Flying, the mod will pull randomly from the ground mount list instead.

What key combinations are invalid?

You cannot use a modifier key (CTRL, ALT or SHIT) on its own, nor can you use unmodified left or right mouse buttons or the ESCAPE and ENTER keys.

Why build on the default UI and not create your own?

Two reasons. The first is I think it looks neater and fits in better and secondly, because it was something I hadn't done before so was more interesting to do.

What happens if I untick all my mounts?!?

Then trying to mount will give you an error message about having no valid mounts, what else would you expect!

* and by asked, I mean questions I though people may ask, feel free to ask new ones to go here!
