Create and manage notes using this in-game notepad (Chronicle/Journal). All notes are shared between all characters on an account for ease of access and when multiple notes are used, they can be sorted according to several criteria for better organization.
Commands (/chronicle and /journal can both be used):
- /chronicle - toggles display of the editor window
- /chronicle index - toggles display of the index window
- /chronicle icon - toggles display of the minimap icon
- To move the minimap icon, simply drag it around the minimap window.
Features:
- Text selection for copy/paste between chat boxes or out of game.
- Ability to add 'chatlinks' (items, quest, achivements etc) into your notes.
- Ability to view 'chatlinks' stored within the mod (left-click on the link).
- Limited(*) ability to copy 'chatlinks' from the mod (shift+left-click on the link), only 1 link can be copied and the currently entered text in that window will be removed.
- Movable and size adjustable edit window to fit almost any UI layout.
- Ability to run the contents of the current 'page' as LUA script for programmers.
- Fully sortable index of pages in a seperate window.
- Choose from a selection of fonts and colours for your preferred viewing.
- LDB integration, including a minmap icon.
Additional Notes:
- To move a frame, click anywhere outside of the edit window or the title bar with the left mouse button and drag.
- To resize the edit window, left click and drag on the resize 'bars' in the bottom right corner.
- To view additional 'metadata' about the current page, mouseover the title bar in the edit window.
- To sort the index panel, click on your desired header (clicking again will toggle between ascending and descending view).
- If only the index window is open, selecting a page (with left click) will open the editor.
- Right-clicking a page in the index (with CTRL held down to avoid accidents) will delete the selected page.

The problem with exporting chatlinks is that (to the best of my knowledge), the only way to shift-click a chatlink out of the addon into another chat window involves modifying the default blizzard interface to override certain things it does and this can cause problems. Rather than just hope these problems don't occur i've gone for a 'problem-free' solution that allows for limited copying of links to other windows. You can shift-click a chatlink in Chronicle's main window and it will be added to the last 'other' chat window you used; the limitation is only 1 link can be made and any text currently entered in the chat window is deleted.
Programmer's Explanation: The blizzard ChatEdit window (text input frame) automatically clears all its contents when it loses focus, obviously clicking a link in Chronicle's editor causes it to gain focus which wipes out ChatEdit and prevents the ability to add multiple chatlinks at once (it will also clear out any currently entered text on click). The way my mod previously (and some other mods still do) did this was to hook the function that cleared the contents and make it, well, not. Some people have said this causes errors however so I have removed this ability for now and put in a limited replacement until a better solution comes to light; any suggestions are more than welcome in how to do this.
