rCastbar

rCastbar is a standalone World of Warcraft retail addon that completely replaces Blizzard's default player and target castbars with a clean, customizable alternative built around the classic Roth UI artwork.

What it does

The moment you install rCastbar, Blizzard's default castbars are suppressed and replaced by two fully independent bars — one for your own character and one for your current target. Every aspect of both bars can be configured without touching a config file: a polished in-game GUI handles everything, and most changes take effect instantly without a UI reload.

Features in detail

Castbar behavior When you begin casting a spell, the bar fades in smoothly, fills from left to right, and displays the spell icon, spell name, and a live countdown timer simultaneously. Channeled spells count down instead of up. Empowered spells (Evoker) are supported natively. If your cast is delayed by lag, the bar reflects the new timing in real time and optionally displays a colored delay offset next to the time. A red safezone at the right edge of the player bar shows exactly how much time your current network latency is eating into your cast window — so you know the exact moment it is safe to move or begin your next action.

Success flash & fail hold On a successful cast, the bar snaps to full, switches to a customizable green success color, holds for ~0.45 seconds, and then fades out — giving you clear visual confirmation that the cast landed. When a cast is interrupted or fails, the bar turns red (or whatever color you configure), displays "Interrupted" or "Failed" as text, holds for a configurable duration (0–5 seconds), and then fades out with the red color still visible — so you always see exactly what happened and for how long.

Class color support Toggle a single switch to color the bar automatically in your class color (or your target's class color for the target bar), without touching the manual color picker. It updates instantly in the live bar.

Target castbar with shield indicator The target castbar behaves identically to the player bar. For enemies casting non-interruptible spells, the bar switches to a gray "shield" color and displays the Blizzard shield icon — making it immediately obvious whether it is worth trying to interrupt.

Fully configurable visuals Each bar has independent settings for: width (80–500 px), font size, icon visibility, spell name visibility, cast time visibility, class color, bar color, background color, fail color, success color, fade-in time, fade-out time, and error display duration. Color changes apply live to the running bar. The "adapt width to spell name" option automatically widens the bar to fit longer spell names, using the configured width as a minimum.

Minimap button A minimap icon (the rCastbar spell icon) sits on your minimap and opens the settings panel with a single click. You can drag it to any position around the minimap. Showing or hiding the icon is controlled via a toggle inside the settings panel — a confirmation dialog ensures you never accidentally lose it.

Drag-to-position Both bars can be moved anywhere on screen by holding Shift and dragging. An edit mode overlay highlights the exact draggable area. Positions are saved between sessions.

Performance rCastbar uses a single OnUpdate handler per bar and registers only the exact WoW events it needs, keeping CPU overhead minimal even during intense combat with many simultaneous casts.

Localization The addon ships with full English and German localizations. All UI strings are driven by a locale table with a safe fallback so unknown keys never cause errors.
