What's new

Rankle changelog

0.4.4

  • Fixed: the Train all panel's note ("Nothing left to learn here.") was cut off. It now uses the full width when there's no price beside it

0.4.3 — Coin icons

  • Prices use Blizzard's gold, silver and copper coin icons everywhere Rankle shows them: the Train all panel, planner tiles and rows, tooltips and chat
  • The Train all panel shows the total cost in its bottom-right corner

0.4.2 — Forever's trainer is read correctly

  • Fixed: Rankle couldn't read Forever's class trainer, so Train all showed "All trained" when there were spells to learn. Forever's trainer lists its details in a different order from Classic; Rankle now picks them out by what they are, so either order works
  • Fixed: the planner's trainer check recorded every spell as Rank 1, which could put wrong levels in the planner. Trainer data saved by older versions is now ignored and read again on your next visit
  • Fixed: after reading the trainer, Rankle could leave its "unavailable" and "used" filters switched on. Your filter settings are now restored exactly
  • Training costs now show in the planner after your first trainer visit, as intended

0.4.1 — Trainer fixes

  • The Train all panel no longer says "All trained" when it couldn't read the trainer's list. It says "Can't read this trainer" instead
  • New /rankle trainerdebug: run it with your class trainer open to get a copyable report of what the trainer tells addons, for bug reports

0.4.0 — Train all, automatic rank updates

New: Train all at your class trainer

  • A small Rankle panel sits beside the class trainer with a Train all button, the number of ranks available and the total cost
  • Buys everything you can learn in one click, one rank at a time, waiting for the trainer to confirm each. A rank that unlocks another (Rank 2 then Rank 3) is picked up in the same run
  • Skips spells you've hidden in the planner, and anything you can't afford. Afterwards chat says what was trained, what it cost, and what you were short for
  • Combined with auto-replace, every new rank goes straight onto your bars
  • Stops cleanly if you close the trainer, or if the client refuses a purchase
  • Class trainers only. Turn the panel off with Show Train all at class trainers in the menu. /rankle trainall does the same with the trainer open

New: your bars update themselves when you learn a rank

  • Buy a new rank at the trainer and Rankle swaps the old rank for it on your action bars and in your macros
  • Chat gets one line per spell, e.g. replaced Frostbolt Rank 3 with Rank 4 (2 bar slots, 1 macro). Mute it with Tell me when a spell is replaced in the menu; if a replacement ever fails, you're still told
  • Ranks on your ignore list are never touched, so deliberate downranks stay where you put them
  • If you're in combat it waits until combat ends. If you're holding something on your cursor it waits until you put it down, so nothing gets dropped
  • Turn it off with Auto-replace spells when I learn a rank in the menu, and Rankle goes back to just telling you
  • A one-time notice on first load explains this and where to turn it off. On the current beta it reappears each login until you use Save settings, because the beta forgets saved settings

New: fix old ranks in one click (/rankle fix, or Fix old ranks in the menu)

  • Swaps every old rank on your action bars for the highest rank you know, in the same slot
  • Rewrites macros that name an old rank, e.g. /cast Frostbolt(Rank 3) becomes (Rank 5). Ranks on your ignore list are left alone
  • Each change is checked afterwards. If the client refuses one, Rankle stops and says so, and never leaves a spell stuck on your cursor
  • Out of combat only

Gold for training

  • Planner tiles show what training everything that's ready now costs, and what your next level will cost. They warn you when you're short
  • Hover a tile to see the cost, what you have, and how much you're short
  • Prices come from your class trainer, so the totals fill in once you've opened it this session
  • The level-up notice includes the price when it's known

Quest spells are marked

  • Spells whose first rank comes from a class quest (Voidwalker, Succubus/Incubus, Felhunter, Defensive and Berserker Stance, Bear and Aquatic Form, Cure Poison, Tame Beast, Redemption, Poisons) are tagged QUEST instead of NEW, and left out of the gold totals
  • If your trainer ever sells one of these, the tag drops off automatically

New: Rankle in Blizzard's settings

  • Rankle now has its own page under Options → AddOns, holding the full Rankle menu
  • /rankle options opens it; /rankle still opens the menu as a floating window

0.3.0 — Training planner

New: training planner (/rankle plan, or Training planner in the menu)

  • Lists every spell and rank your class can learn, grouped by the level it unlocks at, for all nine classes
  • Ready to train: everything your level already allows that you haven't learned, sorted to the top
  • Tiles at the top show how many ranks are ready now, the next level that unlocks something, and how many ranks are left before 60
  • Filter by spellbook school, show ranks you've already learned, or show talent ranks you don't have yet
  • Knows what you've learned, passives included, so learned spells drop off the list
  • Mages only see their own faction's teleports and portals
  • Drag the corner grip to make the planner taller
  • Hover a spell to see its unlock level, school, training cost and status. When the game has that exact spell and rank to hand (ranks you've learned, and new spells the spellbook lists greyed out), you get the game's own tooltip describing what it does
  • Right-click a spell to hide it from the planner. Tick Hidden to see hidden spells again, and right-click one to bring it back. Save settings keeps the list
  • Summon Succubus and Summon Incubus count as one choice, so learning either covers both

The data corrects itself from your trainer

  • The planner ships with the Forever client's own spell data (build 1.60.1) for every class
  • When you open your class trainer, Rankle reads its full list, including ranks you can't buy yet. The trainer's levels and costs then replace the bundled ones, and any spell the trainer has but the data doesn't gets added
  • Your trainer's filter settings are put back exactly as they were

Level-up and login notices

  • When you level, chat lists what's newly available at your trainer
  • At login, chat says how many ranks are waiting to be trained
  • Turn both off with Tell me what to train when I level in the menu

0.2.0 — first release

Downrank warnings

  • Warns in chat when you cast a lower rank of a spell than the highest rank in your spellbook: downranked Frostbolt -- cast Rank 1, Rank 2 available
  • Optional warning sound, played on the Master channel so it still plays when Sound Effects are turned down
  • Each spell warns once, then waits before warning again. The wait is adjustable from 5 to 120 seconds and defaults to 20.
  • Works for every class
  • Goes dormant on a client without spell ranks, and switches on by itself if ranks appear later

Action bar check

  • Scans your action bars and macros for old ranks at login and after you learn a new rank
  • /rankle scan, or the button in the menu, runs a check at any time

Ignore list

  • Ignore every rank of a spell, or only certain ranks, e.g. keep Healing Wave Rank 3 for cheap heals and still be warned about Rank 1
  • Add spells from the menu (Tab completes the name from your spellbook) or with /rankle ignore <spell> [rank]

Menu (/rankle)

  • Toggles for warnings, sound, the bar check after training, and the login message
  • Ignore list with one-click remove
  • This session's recent downranks, each with an Ignore button
  • Test button, which plays the warning sound and reports whether it worked
  • Save settings: generates a Settings.lua for you to paste in, because the beta doesn't load saved settings back at login
  • Opens from the addons button by the minimap on clients that have it

Commands

/rankle · on · off · scan · sound · test · status · ignore <spell> [rank] · unignore <spell> [rank]

Known issues

  • On the current beta, changes made in-game are lost at logout. Use Save settings... and paste the result over Settings.lua to keep them.
  • Bar locations are shown by action slot ("bar 2, button 4"), which may not match how your bar addon numbers its bars.
