RangeShade shades your action bar buttons red when your target is out of range. Made for World of Warcraft: Forever.
Why
When an ability can't reach your target, the game only turns the small keybind number on its button red. RangeShade tints the whole icon, so you can see at a glance which abilities will land.
Features
- Covers all eight standard action bars.
- Buttons return to their normal colour when back in range, keeping the game's own blue (out of mana) and grey (unusable) tints.
- Optional shading for melee abilities, which the Forever client otherwise reports as always in range.
- Strong or soft red, to taste.
- Light: no setup needed, and nothing to configure unless you want to.
Options
Type /rangeshade to open the options, or use RangeShade's entry in the minimap's addon list.
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
| /rangeshade on, off, toggle | Turns the shading on or off |
| /rangeshade melee | Shades melee abilities too |
| /rangeshade strong, soft | Strength of the red |
| /rangeshade debug | Lists what the game reports for each button |
Known limits
- The pet bar and stance bar are not covered.
- For melee, the shortest distance the game lets an addon measure is about 10 yards, so a melee button clears slightly before you are close enough to hit.
- In combat the game limits what addons can read; where it won't report range, the button is left as normal.
