QuestTrail 2.2.0
What's new
Highlights
- Intercontinental planning is now supported, with boats, zeppelins, the tram and skycutters.
- Compass and Planner are about twice as fast.
- The Planner's first arrow now always follows the Compass.
- Shared Trail now shares navigation probes and routes too.
- Shared data is now compressed before being sent, and stays anonymous.
- XP estimates now follow the game's formulas.
- Better heuristics for navigation and quest priorities.
- Saved files (your personal Trail and the Shared Trail) are more compact, and ready for safe migrations and for filtering unreliable shared data at a larger scale.
- New Non-Spoil and Speedrun modes in the Shared Trail menu (/qtr trail). New installs start in World Trail and Speedrun Mode.
Transports in every route
- Routes now cross the sea when it is shorter: boats to islands and between continents. Teldrassil by the boat from Darkshore, not a swim.
- A route can go overseas and come back. Quests over there are done when it pays off, not only when nothing is left at home.
- Objectives on another continent are now routed too.
Compass
- The Minimap Planner is lighter: each arrow and each step circle is one image, and only what moves is redrawn. Flights are plain arrows again, not dotted.
- The Minimap Planner's first arrow follows the compass: while you work on an objective, it points to the marker the compass leads you to.
- In a hunting area, the compass now leads you around the known markers, the busiest first. Markers you pass by count as visited, and it no longer sends you back and forth between two of them.
Fixes
- Rides on boats and zeppelins are no longer recorded as walked paths. Being carried faster than you move is detected; nothing is learned meanwhile.
- A jump off a cliff is no longer learned as a way, and nothing is learned while you are dead. The path is cut where you fell, and what was recorded just before a death is undone.
- Old boat and zeppelin trips learned as walks are now left out. Recognised by their shape (a dead-straight line off a dock, or across a zone), they are kept but no longer used for routes nor shared;
/qtr debug rideslists them. - Old straight stretches of path are now confirmed before they are used. Recorded before this version, they could hide a flight or a boat trip: each one counts again as soon as you, or any other player, walks it.
- Markers come back after a dungeon. Leaving an instance or changing zone now rebuilds the map markers.
- Nothing is learned inside dungeons and raids. Dungeon quests are not handled yet, and group kills there would skew the kill stats.
- No more "secret boolean value" error (QuestTrail_History.lua:81). Values the game keeps secret are now read as unknown instead of breaking the addon.
- The route no longer leaves out everything at once. Far-away quests are left for later only while something is left to do around you.
- Broken data no longer stops the route. A place or a number that makes no sense is left out instead.
- Shared Trail now shares the ground and the ways of the whole world. Where every player walked or swam reaches everyone, wherever they are: a new player catches up with all of it in a few minutes, and routes use everyone's ground and ways. Quests are shared for the whole world too, not only your continent.
- Shared Trail's exchanges are compressed when it makes them smaller, and every piece of shared navigation remembers how many players saw it and which version recorded it, without any name that could be followed. What you walk is shared only 10 to 20 minutes later, so nobody can tell where you are now.
- Shared Trail: a quest handed in on another continent is now shared with the players over there too. It used to be filed only where it is taken.
Smarter routes
- Drop rates are estimated more carefully. One lucky kill no longer counts as a sure 100 %.
- XP estimates now follow the game's own formulas. Kill XP is worked out from the mob's level for your level, and quest XP from its full value, so grey or red kills and quests no longer skew the numbers.
- Shared quest XP is always the full XP. A grey quest handed in by someone else no longer lowers your estimate.
- Kill stats are shared too: kills, drops and the mobs' level. A quest you never did gets a realistic drop rate and kill XP for your level from the start.
- Routes are worked out twice as fast, and they change less often. A new route replaces the one you follow only when it is estimated better than going on with it.
- Shared Trail's choices are clearer: one button per mode, and the chosen one says what it does. Lone, Guild or World Trail for what you receive, then Non-Spoil Mode or Speedrun Mode for how it is used.
Your data
- Nothing you recorded is deleted because of its age any more. Old copies and characters not seen for 60 days are only flagged obsolete;
/qtr cleanuplists them and/qtr cleanup confirmdeletes them. Your history is no longer cut at 4000 events, and the kills you remember are all kept. - Your saved file is smaller: quest spots are stored packed, with no loss of precision. On a real file, the spots take a third of the room they used to (the shared ones a quarter).
Known issues
- Paths recorded before 2.2.0 along long straight lines are set aside until someone walks them again, so a few routes may be less direct at first.
- The game's XP formulas are not yet verified on WoW Forever.
