Pylos Ranks

You learn a new rank of a spell, and the button on your bar quietly keeps casting the old one. Happens to everyone, usually noticed mid-fight. Pylos Ranks swaps it for you.

You need Pylos Core for this. It's a tiny helper addon that Pylos Ranks builds on. Install both. If Core is missing, Pylos Ranks stays off and drops a line in chat with a link to it, so nothing breaks.

What it does

• Looks at your action bars and puts the highest rank you know on every spell button.
• Left-click the minimap button or type /pranks to check right now. The chat tells you what it changed.
• It can also run on its own: when you learn a new rank (on by default), when you drop a spell on a bar, or after logging in and loading screens. Switch each one on or off in the options.
• It never touches your bars in combat. If you ask for a check mid-fight, it waits until the fight is over.
• The minimap button is gray while everything is up to date and starts pulsing when an old rank is still on a bar.

When you want the old rank Sometimes the lower rank is the right one, say to save mana. Put it on the blacklist and Pylos Ranks leaves it alone. Shift-click does it for all ranks of a spell at once. The blacklist is per character, and the spell tooltip can show a short note (in a color you pick) so you remember why the old rank is still there.

With "Action bar changed" switched on, a lower rank that you drop on a bar yourself isn't swapped behind your back. It asks first: Keep or Replace.

Setup Open the game options and look for Pylos, or type /pranks options.
