PVPTabTarget - Smart PvP Tab Targeting (Players Only TAB for Arenas & Battlegrounds)

PVPTabTarget is a lightweight World of Warcraft addon that improves TAB targeting in PvP by automatically adapting your targeting behavior depending on the zone you are in.

In Arenas and Battlegrounds, TAB will target enemy players only, preventing accidental targeting of critters, pets, or NPCs. In PvE content such as Dungeons and Raids, TAB works normally and targets all enemies.

This ensures fast and reliable targeting during competitive PvP where every second matters.

Features

Automatic zone detection

The addon automatically switches targeting behavior depending on the content you are playing:

• Arenas & Battlegrounds → Players only
• Dungeons & Raids → All enemies
• Open World → Configurable targeting mode

Smart keybinding handling

PVPTabTarget temporarily overrides TAB and SHIFT-TAB when entering supported zones and restores your original keybindings when leaving. Changes apply instantly and do not interrupt combat.

Custom keybindings can also be configured if you prefer using a different key.

Minimap button

A minimap button allows quick access to the addon:

• Left-click: toggle targeting mode
• Right-click: open configuration
• The icon reflects the current targeting mode

Flexible configuration

PVPTabTarget provides several customization options:

• Different targeting modes per zone type
• Custom keybindings support
• Optional silent mode to reduce chat messages
• Per-character configuration
• Multiple minimap icon styles

Temporary targeting override

You can temporarily switch targeting mode without modifying your saved configuration. This is useful when you need to target an NPC while playing in a PvP zone.

Slash commands

• /pvptab — show current status
• /pvptab config — open configuration panel
• /pvptab toggle — toggle targeting mode
• /pvptab reset — reset temporary override

Default behavior

Arenas & Battlegrounds → Players only Dungeons & Raids → All enemies Open World → All enemies
