Blood Mage’s Bargain: The Path of the Oath Breaker

​We are rolling out major updates to the Paladin experience within the Blood Mage's Bargain challenge. This update shifts away from "default" renames and places the power—and the consequences—directly in your hands.

A Choice of Identity

​Paladins are no longer called Oath Breakers by default. To become one, you must now actively break your vows.

• ​The Talent: The first-tier Retribution talent (formerly Benediction) has been reimagined as Oath Breaker, featuring a custom dark icon.
• ​Dynamic Identity: If you haven't selected this talent, you remain a Paladin to everyone. Once selected, your class identity transforms into Oath Breaker across all tooltips, rosters, and chat frames.
• ​Forgiveness: Respeccing out of the talent immediately restores your status as a Paladin.

Thematic Immersion

​We want the moment you fall from grace to feel significant.

• ​The Ritual: Spending your first point in the Oath Breaker talent triggers a unique thematic banner and an ominous sound sting.
• ​Sanguine Weakness: When you are "Weakened" by self-healing, a deep red vignette now creeps around your screen, slowly fading away as your penalty timer expires.

New Gameplay Scaling

​The Oath Breaker talent is now the cornerstone of your build’s efficiency:

• ​Melee Cost Reduction: Each rank directly reduces the Blood cost of your auto-attacks.
• ​Spirit Empowerment: The talent drastically increases the effectiveness of your Spirit stat at reducing costs, allowing your gear to scale much harder into the late game.

Minor Tweaks & Fixes

• ​Stat Tooltips: Fixed the Spirit and Stamina tooltips in the character window to accurately reflect your Blood Mage scaling.
• ​Pet Cleanup: Removed unnecessary Blood cost displays on pet spells to reduce UI clutter.
