Purity is a hardcore challenge addon for World of Warcraft: Classic Era that transforms the leveling experience. By accepting a Vow of Purity at level 1, you opt into a set of strict, thematic rules that will test your class knowledge and adaptability.

With a custom-themed UI, the addon presents the specific rules and forbidden actions for your current challenge directly in-game, so you always know the tenets you've sworn to uphold. The addon monitors your actions, spells, and equipment to ensure you stay true to your chosen path. Break the rules, and your challenge is over permanently for that character.

 

The Challenges

 

Purity now features nearly twenty unique ways to play, with many classes now offering a choice between two or more distinct challenge paths.

Global Challenges (Available to Any Class)

  • The Ascetic's Path: A test of self-denial available to any class. Choose your path: limit yourself to common gear, wear no armor at all, or face the world with nothing equipped.
  • Fisherman's Folly: The ultimate angler's trial. Can you reach level 60 equipping only items you've fished from the waters of Azeroth?

Class-Specific Challenges

  • Brand of Purity / Bulwark of Purity (Warrior): The Warrior must choose a path. The Brand of Purity is for the reckless Berserker who shuns shields, defensive stance, and must initiate all combat with Charge. The Bulwark of Purity is for the Ardent Protector who forsakes two-handed weapons and the undisciplined rage of the Fury talent tree.
  • Oath of Purity / Libram of Purity (Paladin): The Paladin must choose one of two distinct paths. The Oath of Purity requires you to be the ultimate guardian who never initiates combat, whereas the Libram of Purity requires you to be a holy Undead-slayer, only landing the killing blow on the restless dead.
  • Bond of Purity / Quiver of Purity (Hunter): The Hunter must choose their focus. The Bond of Purity is for the Primal Savage who fights in melee alongside their pet, forsaking all ranged weapons and traps. The Quiver of Purity is for the Lone Wolf, a master of marksmanship who relies only on their bow, forsaking all melee weapons and the aid of a pet.
  • Contract of Purity / Foil of Purity (Rogue): The Rogue must select their code. The Contract of Purity is for the Honorable Duelist who forsakes stealth, poisons, and all underhanded tactics. The Foil of Purity is for the master fencer who proves their skill with a single blade, forsaking the use of an off-hand weapon.
  • Communion of Purity (Shaman): The Spirit Walker. Your power flows purely from your spells and maintaining active totems in combat. No weapons of any kind are permitted.
  • Pact of Purity / Astrolabe of Purity (Druid): The Druid must choose their attunement. The Pact of Purity is for the Avenger of Nature who protects wild beasts and relies on feral and restorative magic, shunning Balance spells and leather armor. The Astrolabe of Purity is for the Celestial Weaver who must perfectly alternate between Nature and Arcane damaging spells, forsaking all Feral and Restoration magic.
  • Tome of Purity (Mage): The Untainted Wizard. Choose a tome to dedicate yourself to a single school of magic (Fire, Frost, or Arcane), forsaking all others. This decision is permanent.
  • Testament of Purity (Priest): The Vessel of Light. This Priest has sworn off the corrupting whispers of the Shadow, relying solely on Holy and Discipline magic. Their vow is so strong they are forbidden from taking the life of any Humanoid creature.
  • Grimoire of Purity (Warlock): The Crazed Demonologist. Focused on fire, brimstone, and demons; souls are fuel for summoning and nothing else. All shadow magic, soul-based creations like healthstones, and non-fire wands are forbidden.

  • In-Game Tooltip Warnings: The addon provides clear "Forbidden" warnings on tooltips for spells, items, talents, and targets that violate your oath. It can also show "Allowed" warnings for challenges with very specific gear rules.
  • Player Inspection: View the Purity challenge status of other players directly on their tooltip in-game.
  • Challenge Verification System: Successfully completing a challenge provides you with a verification code to prove your achievement.

 

How it Works

 

You must accept a challenge at Level 1; you cannot join after leveling up. The addon will guide you from there, tracking your progress and adherence to the rules. Final verification for successful challengers is handled through the official Purity Discord community.

 

Important Information

 

  • Slash Commands: Use /purity for a quick status, /purity help for a list of commands, and /purity rules to see your challenge details.
  • Switching Computers: Challenge progress is saved locally in your WTF folder. You must transfer these files (specifically the Purity.lua file in your character's SavedVariables folder) when switching computers to avoid failing the challenge.
