What's new
0.5.0-beta16
Fixes
- Switching between profession tabs no longer lags. Planning a route is about four times faster, and each profession keeps its route while you switch, so going back to one you've opened doesn't plan again. Opening a profession window still plans again for fresh auction prices, at most every 5 minutes.
New
- Vendors tab: the vendor half of your Shopping List, sorted into stops. Each vendor shows what to buy there and how many, the distance, and a Guide button (map pin and arrow, like the Trainers tab). ProfPlanner keeps the number of stops down: when a vendor a little further away sells several of your items, it sends you there instead of to two separate vendors. Items nobody has recorded a vendor for yet are listed at the bottom.
- Clicking a vendor item on the Shopping List or Current Step tab opens the Vendors tab with its vendor highlighted.
- The planner window now uses the same background art as the profession window it sits next to.
/profplan skin offbrings back the standard look,/profplan skin onmatches again. - Step done: when your skill reaches the end of a step while you craft, a message in the middle of the screen (and in chat) with a sound tells you what to craft next.
/profplan stepdone offturns it off. - Each profession opens on the tab you last used with it.
- Hovering a column heading (Bags, Bank, Need, Buy, Cost) explains what it shows.
- A key binding to open and close the planner: Key Bindings, AddOns, Profession Planner.
Community data (78 contributors so far)
- Tailoring: the route to 225 is about 170g cheaper (about 243g instead of 414g), thanks to newer prices and skill colors. New trainer Mahani (The Barrens).
- Leatherworking: 19 more trainer recipes (skill 135 to 200), the Expert rank and three more recipes (Camp Chair, Field Guide, Trapper's Workbench). The route to 225 is about 74g cheaper.
- Engineering: 18 more trainer recipes (skill 120 to 215), the Expert Engineer rank, skill colors up to 145 and a new trainer, Finbus Geargrind (Duskwood). The route to 225 is about 22g cheaper (about 28g instead of 49g).
- Alchemy: skill colors up to 225 and a new trainer, Serge Hinott (Hillsbrad Foothills). Blacksmithing to 225 is about 3g cheaper.
- Cooking: new trainers Cook Ghilm, Duhng and Katherine Lee. Enchanting: the Expert rank.
- 77 more vendors, and what 127 vendors sell (68 Horde, 45 Alliance, 14 for both), covering 54 materials, including vials and flux in Orgrimmar, so many more Shopping List items now name their closest vendor and show up on the Vendors tab.
0.5.0-beta15
Fixes
- How far a trainer's list goes is only recorded when the trainer window shows everything they teach. With the "unavailable" filter off (or learned recipes hidden), a trainer could look like they stop early, and "Ready to train" would skip them.
New
- Send to Auctionator: a button on the Shopping List tab turns the list into an Auctionator shopping list named "ProfPlanner <profession>", with how many of each item you still need. At the auction house, open Auctionator's Shopping tab and pick the list to buy everything in one pass. Items a vendor sells and items you'll craft yourself are left out. The button shows only when Auctionator is installed;
/profplan auctionatordoes the same. - Item tooltips: hovering over a material your route uses (in your bags, the bank, the auction house or at a vendor) adds a line such as "ProfPlanner: Tailoring route needs 40 (you have 12)". It covers each of your professions and your other characters' routes too, for example "Tailoring (Grovah) route needs 40", as of the last time each was opened with the planner.
/profplan tooltips offhides the lines,/profplan tooltips onbrings them back. - Closest vendor: materials a vendor sells now name the closest vendor of your faction under their name on the Shopping List and Current Step tabs, for example "Vendor: Ronald Burch, Undercity". Hover over the row for the item's tooltip and every vendor known to sell it, closest first. ProfPlanner learns what each vendor sells when anyone with beta15 opens that vendor, and shares it like the rest of the data; until someone has, the line just says "Vendor item". Materials that are cheaper to craft say "Craft it (cheaper than buying)" the same way.
Community data (60 contributors so far)
- Alchemy: 10 more trainer recipes (skill 160 to 215), the Journeyman and Expert Alchemist ranks, and skill colors up to 190. Every Alchemy route is cheaper; the route to 150 costs about a quarter less.
- Leatherworking: the route now reaches 225 (it stopped at 196), using Turtle Scale Gloves at the end; three more recipes from Jangdor Swiftstrider in Feralas. The route to 150 is about 3g cheaper.
- First Aid: Horde players can now buy the Heavy Silk Bandage and Mageweave Bandage manuals and the Expert First Aid book from Balai Lok'Wein (Dustwallow Marsh); the route to 225 now ends with Mageweave Bandage.
- What 31 vendors sell, mostly in Stormwind City, Undercity and Zephras Isle: the start of the closest-vendor lines.
- How far more trainers' lists go (Doctor Herbert Halsey, Saru Steelfury and others).
0.5.0-beta14
Changes
- Ready for players on other game languages at launch: ProfPlanner reads profession, recipe and trainer names in English, so for now it works with English game clients only. On other languages it says so once when you log in, and data sharing stays off so translated names don't mix into everyone's plans. Shared data now says which game language it was recorded in, and only English data is used.

- Alchemy: 10 more trainer recipes (skill 80 to 140), skill colors up to 96 and a new trainer, Iaadaria Bitterwind (Zephras Isle). The route to 150 is about 25% cheaper.

- First Aid: with more players' colors for Heavy Silk Bandage, the route to 225 is back to about 10g (beta13 showed 19g).
- Cooking: skill colors for 10 more recipes and a new trainer, Mudduk (Stranglethorn Vale). Cheaper routes at every level; the route to 225 is now under 1g.
- Engineering: skill colors for 8 more recipes, up to 136.
- New Blacksmithing trainers: Guillaume Sorouy (Silverpine Forest) and Traugh (The Barrens).
- Where to buy the Azure armor recipes for Blacksmithing, Leatherworking and Tailoring (Vayn Moongaze, Zephras Isle), plus Runed Arcanite Rod and Felcloth Pants (Lorelae Wintersong, Moonglade), Heavy Kodo Stew and Green Leather Armor (Vendor-Tron 1000, Desolace), Fillet of Frenzy, Spiced Chili Crab and Green Firework. 14 more recipe vendors in all.
- How far more trainers' lists go (about 25 more trainers), so "Ready to train" points to one who teaches what you need.
0.5.0-beta13
Community data (32 contributors so far)
- Engineering: 21 more trainer recipes (skill 85 to 150), plus the Journeyman Engineer rank, and skill colors up to 121. The route to 225 now reaches 211 instead of stopping at 111, and the route to 150 now reaches 150.
- Enchanting: 25 more trainer recipes (skill 155 to 225) and skill colors for 53 more recipes, up to 173. The route now reaches 225.
- Cooking: 15 more recipes from vendors (Kendor Kabonka in Stormwind City, Ogg'marr in Dustwallow Marsh, Sheendra Tallgrass in Feralas and more), skill colors up to 225, and new trainers Slagg (Arathi Highlands) and Crystal Boughman (Redridge Mountains). Cheaper routes to 150 and 225.
- Alchemy: the Discolored Healing Potion recipes (skill 1 to 270) and a new trainer, Apothecary Renferrel in Silverpine Forest. Every Alchemy route is cheaper.
- Blacksmithing: skill colors up to 206 and sharper colors for about 95 recipes. The route to 225 is about 20g cheaper.
- Tailoring: skill colors for 17 more recipes. Cheaper routes to 75, 150 and 225.
- First Aid: Heavy Silk Bandage turns yellow much sooner than we assumed, so the route to 225 now uses Mageweave Bandage at the end. It costs more than beta12 showed, but it's closer to what you'll really pay.
- 20 more recipe vendors, including Balai Lok'Wein (Dustwallow Marsh), Keena (Arathi Highlands) and Bronk (Feralas).
- How far more trainers' lists go (about 25 trainers across all professions), so "Ready to train" points to one who teaches what you need.
- Vendor prices shared by players with a reputation discount no longer lower the community price: ProfPlanner uses the vendor's full price.
0.5.0-beta12
Fixes
- Blacksmithing and Cooking rank upgrades weren't recognized: the game calls them "Journeyman Blacksmith", "Expert Blacksmith" and "Journeyman Cook" instead of "Journeyman Blacksmithing" and so on. They're now treated as ranks (cap reminders, "Ready to train") instead of recipes. The same goes for Alchemist, Engineer, Enchanter and Leatherworker ranks. Ranks you recorded earlier are corrected when you log in.
- The cap reminder for the Expert Cookbook and Expert First Aid could name a vendor of the other faction once their players had shared where they bought it. It now always names your own faction's vendor.
New
- A chat message tells you when data from another player arrives (once per session): "received new recipe data from another player; your plans now include it." Type
/profplan sync notify offto hide it,/profplan sync notify onto bring it back.
Community data (20 contributors so far; most of the new data arrived through automatic sharing)
- Blacksmithing: 18 more trainer recipes (skill 130 to 190), skill colors up to 200, and a new trainer, Brikk Keencraft in Stranglethorn Vale. The route now reaches 225, and the routes to 150 and 225 are cheaper.
- Skill colors at higher levels: Cooking up to 210, First Aid up to 225, Leatherworking up to 152, Alchemy up to 80, plus sharper colors for about 100 recipes in Cooking, Leatherworking, Blacksmithing, Engineering, Tailoring and First Aid.
- Where to buy the Expert Cookbook (Shandrina, Ashenvale) and Expert First Aid (Deneb Walker, Arathi Highlands), so the cap reminder can point Alliance players to them.
- 32 more recipe vendors, in Stranglethorn Vale, Hillsbrad Foothills, Tanaris, Thousand Needles, Ashenvale, Darkshore, Duskwood, Westfall, Redridge Mountains, Stonetalon Mountains and Arathi Highlands. New recipes include Alchemy (Philosopher's Stone, Nature and Shadow Protection Potion, Shadow Oil), Cooking (Hot Smoked Bass, Filet of Redgill, Big Bear Steak, Clam Chowder, Lean Venison), Enchanting (Enchant Bracer - Lesser Strength, Enchant Cloak - Minor Agility), First Aid (Heavy Silk and Mageweave Bandage), Leatherworking (Murloc Scale Bracers, Thick Murloc Armor), Tailoring (Bright Yellow Shirt), Blacksmithing and Engineering.
- New trainers: Fremal Doohickey (First Aid, Wetlands) and Aayndia Floralwind (Leatherworking, Ashenvale). Also how far more trainers' lists go (Zamja, Daryl Riknussun and Stephen Ryback for Cooking; James Van Brunt for Blacksmithing; Nissa Firestone and Shaina Fuller for First Aid; Fimble and Gretta Finespindle for Leatherworking), so "Ready to train" points to one who teaches what you need.
- Cheaper routes: every Engineering, First Aid and Leatherworking route; Cooking to 150 and 225; Enchanting, Alchemy and Tailoring to 225.
0.5.0-beta11
Fixes
- "Ready to train" could point to a trainer who doesn't teach the recipe (for example Victor Ward in Undercity, who teaches Tailoring recipes only up to 55; the trainer next to him teaches the rest). ProfPlanner now records how far each trainer's list goes and points to one who teaches what you need. Visiting a trainer like that also no longer marks the recipes they don't teach as learned.
New
- Automatic data sharing. ProfPlanner now shares the recipe data it records with other ProfPlanner players of your faction in the background, and receives theirs, so everyone's plans improve without copy and paste. New recipes are used right away; a new price or skill color is used once two players report it, and what you record yourself always wins. It sends no character names, items, gold or chat, pauses in combat and instances, and sends at most one small message per second. A one-time message explains it when you first log in.
- "Community data: N players" next to the Share data button shows how many players' data you have; hover over it for details.
/profplan syncshows the sharing status;/profplan sync offturns sharing off,/profplan sync onturns it back on.- The Share data button still works and still reaches the other faction.
Community data (8 contributors so far, including the first data shared automatically)

- Enchanting: skill colors now known for 32 recipes, up to skill 150, and one more trainer recipe. Every Enchanting route is cheaper.
- Cooking: where to buy the Rockscale Cod recipe (Lizbeth Cromwell, Undercity), plus Curiously Tasty Omelet, Jungle Stew and Roast Raptor (Nerrist, Grom'gol). The route to 225 costs about half as much.
- First Aid: skill colors now known for 8 recipes, up to skill 102.
- Trainers: how far several trainers' lists go (Victor Ward and Snang for Tailoring, among others), so "Ready to train" points to one who teaches what you need.
0.5.0-beta10
Fixes
- Fixed a stutter on every skill-up while crafting. The route is no longer replanned each time your skill goes up; it's planned when you open the profession window and whenever your recorded data or settings change.
Community data
- Enchanting: 18 more trainer recipes and skill colors up to 125. The route now reaches skill 199.
- Blacksmithing: skill colors up to 91, with shorter and cheaper routes to 150 and 225.
0.5.0-beta9
Fixes
- Fixed a slight stutter when opening a profession window. The route is now planned once per opening instead of on every recipe list update.
- Mining's smelting recipes could be recorded under First Aid. They're no longer recorded, and any already saved are removed automatically when you log in.
Changes
- Visiting a trainer only posts a chat message when it records new or changed trainings. Trainer lists are still checked on every visit.
Community data
- New Blacksmithing skill colors (cheaper routes to 150 and 225), plus Cooking and First Aid colors
- More item names, new Cooking, Leatherworking and Tailoring manuals, and new vendors
0.5.0-beta8
Fixes
- Fixed a Lua error (Recorder.lua:455) that broke the Current Step tab when your next recipe is taught by a trainer and you haven't learned it yet.
