PI Helper

PI Helper is a Power Infusion helper for Priests, inspired by old WeakAuras and rebuilt for the restrictions and API changes that came with Midnight.

It tracks a configurable list of buff IDs on DPS players and glows their raid or party frames while those buffs are up, so you can see who is ready for Power Infusion. By default, most major cooldowns that apply a detectable buff are included. While Power Infusion is on cooldown, you can hide glows, alerts, and whisper requests so you are only prompted when you can actually use it.

Cooldown Tracker

Automatically highlights raid frames when DPS players activate major offensive cooldowns.

  • Skips tanks and healers (unless they are on your tracked-players list)
  • Separate settings for Raid, Dungeons, and Focus
  • Track everyone, or only a listed set of players
  • Configurable buff IDs, including optional potions and custom IDs
  • Optionally track different buffs per Raid / Dungeons / Focus
  • Glow styles: Proc, Border, or Fill
  • Works with Blizzard, ElvUI, Grid2, DandersFrames, and EllesmereUI frames

Focus

Set a friendly player as your focus and PI Helper watches them specifically.

While someone is focused, raid and dungeon tracking pause so you are not scanning the whole group. When they pop a tracked cooldown, you can glow their frame, show an on-screen alert, and play a sound.

An optional focus reminder pops up in raid and dungeon instances until you have a friendly player focused.

On-screen Alerts

A draggable Power Infusion icon can show the player’s name when a tracked cooldown is up, or when a whisper request comes in.

  • Layouts: name on icon, name to the left, or name to the right
  • Glow and alert can be enabled independently per Raid, Dungeons, and Focus

Whispers

Because of Midnight addon restrictions, addons cannot read who sent a whisper or the message text.

Any in-game whisper while you are in a group, in combat, and PI is ready is treated as a Power Infusion request. PI Helper then highlights someone from your list:

  • Priority — highlight the first listed player who is in the group
  • Rotation — highlight the current name, then move to the next after you PI

Optional sound, on-screen alert, raid-frame glow, and ignore Battle.net whispers.

Extras

  • Healer specs only (Holy and Discipline; on by default)
  • Only when PI is available
  • Early-request grace window so tracking can return a few seconds before PI is ready
  • Custom buff IDs
  • SharedMedia sounds (same list BigWigs uses)

FAQ

Why isn't there a sound when someone in the raid pops a cooldown?

Due to Midnight addon restrictions, PI Helper cannot mute a sound based on whether Power Infusion is currently on cooldown.

A sound on every tracked cooldown would therefore play even when you cannot use PI. Raid and dungeon tracking stay visual for that reason.

Focus and whisper alerts can still play a sound. Focus sounds also cannot be muted while PI is on cooldown.

Why isn't Example Cooldown Here tracked?

For PI Helper to track a cooldown, the spell must apply a detectable buff to the player.

Due to Midnight addon restrictions, addons cannot see friendly players' cast events during combat. This means PI Helper cannot detect when an ally presses a specific spell unless that spell produces a detectable buff on them.

If a cooldown does not apply a detectable buff to the player, there is no event PI Helper can use to track it.

Examples include:

  • Summon Darkglare — Affliction Warlocks
  • Ray of Frost — Frost Mages

These spells cannot be detected from their cast. If they also do not apply a detectable buff to the player, PI Helper cannot track them.

If a missing cooldown does apply a detectable buff to the player, add its buff ID on the Tracking tab.

Why does any whisper count as a PI request?

Midnight does not let addons read the sender or the message. PI Helper only knows that someone whispered you. The Priority or Rotation list decides who to highlight.
