Pet Duel – PvP Pet Battle Duels & Guild League

Pet Duel is a World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria Classic PvP pet battle addon that restores direct player-to-player pet battle challenges and adds a competitive social system around them.

Challenge other players to pet battles, choose between Rated and Casual matches, keep a duel history, build rivalries, show when you're looking for a battle, and compete on your guild's Pet Duel ladder.

If you've tried to challenge another player to a pet battle in MoP Classic and couldn't find the option in Blizzard's interface, Pet Duel is built specifically to solve that problem.

Direct Player Pet Battle Duels in MoP Classic

The underlying player-vs-player pet battle duel still works in Mists of Pandaria Classic, but Blizzard does not provide the normal direct challenge interface.

Pet Duel puts that functionality back into the game with several ways to challenge your current target.

You can challenge another player through:

• The Pet Duel button beside your target frame

• The minimap button

• The player right-click menu

• /petduel or /pduel

• A Pet Duel key binding

The actual pet battle challenge is handled by World of Warcraft itself.

The other player does not need Pet Duel installed just to accept and fight the pet battle.

Pet Duel adds the interface and builds the extra tracking, competitive, and social features around those battles.

Rated and Casual Pet Duels

Not every pet battle needs to affect your standing.

Before challenging another Pet Duel player, choose between:

Rated

Rated matches can count toward your Pet Duel Guild League rating when both players are using Pet Duel and the result is successfully verified.

Use Rated mode when you want a competitive match.

Casual

Casual matches still appear in your personal History and Rivals records, but they do not affect your Guild League rating.

Use Casual mode for practice, friendly battles, testing teams, or rematches where rating doesn't matter.

Duel History

Pet Duel keeps a history of the PvP pet battles it sees.

Review your recent matches and see information such as:

• Wins and losses

• Recent opponents

• Today's results

• Overall win rate

• Current streak

• Rated or Casual match status

• Confirmed match results

• Disputed results when the two clients do not agree

Your history gives you a record of the players you've fought instead of each duel disappearing as soon as the battle ends.

Rivals

Fight someone often enough and they become more than another name in the history list.

The Rivals tab tracks your head-to-head record against players you've battled.

See how you have performed against individual opponents and watch rivalries develop naturally as you continue battling the same players.

Whether you're competing with a guildmate, trying to settle a close record, or constantly rematching the same opponent, Pet Duel keeps the score.

Pet Duel Player Status

Pet Duel players can advertise whether they're currently interested in battling.

Set your status to:

• Ready

• Casual

• Competitive

• Away

Other Pet Duel users you encounter can see your status and know whether you're looking for a pet battle.

The Players tab keeps track of Pet Duel users you've encountered through your guild, group, or targeting and can show their current status and rating information when available.

Think of it as a lightweight looking-for-pet-battle system built around the players you're already interacting with.

Guild Pet Battle League

Pet Duel includes a guild-based PvP pet battle league.

Rated duels between Pet Duel users can feed into an Elo-style guild ladder, giving guilds a way to organize their own competitive pet battling without relying on Blizzard's random PvP matchmaking queue.

The league includes:

• Character-based ratings

• Guild standings

• Wins and losses

• Cross-verified Rated match results

• Rating changes based on opponent rating

• Guild synchronization

• Offline players remaining visible once their matches have been recorded

• Shareable standings for guild chat

Everyone starts fresh and builds their rating through Rated Pet Duel matches.

Beating a stronger opponent is worth more than beating someone rated below you.

Cross-Verified Results

Competitive ratings are only useful if the results can be trusted.

When two Pet Duel users fight a Rated match, each client independently records the result.

The match only enters the Guild League when both sides agree on what happened.

If the two clients report different outcomes, the match is marked as disputed rather than modifying the ladder.

Casual matches do not affect ratings.

Share Your Guild Standings

Want guildmates to see who's currently on top?

Use Share to Guild to post the leading Pet Duel standings directly into guild chat.

Guildmates do not need the addon installed just to read the posted standings.

This makes Pet Duel useful for guild events, friendly competitions, recurring pet battle nights, or simply determining who really is the best pet battler in the guild.

The Pet Duel Hub

The main Pet Duel window brings the addon together in one place.

Duel

Challenge your target, select Rated or Casual mode, and set your Pet Duel availability status.

Players

See Pet Duel users you've encountered, their status, available rating information, and quick Challenge or Whisper options.

History

Review recent PvP pet battle results, win rate, streaks, and confirmed or disputed matches.

Rivals

Track your individual head-to-head records against repeat opponents.

League

View your guild's Pet Duel standings and competitive rating ladder.

How to Challenge Someone to a Pet Battle

Target the player you want to fight and use any Pet Duel challenge option.

The quickest methods are:

Right-click the player → Challenge to Pet Battle

or:

/petduel

You can also use the button beside your target frame, the minimap button, or assign a Pet Duel key binding.

World of Warcraft still determines whether the duel itself can begin.

Does the Other Player Need Pet Duel?

No — not for the actual pet battle.

Pet Duel calls World of Warcraft's existing pet battle duel functionality, so a player without the addon can still receive and accept the challenge.

However, both players need Pet Duel for features that depend on addon communication, such as:

• Rated match verification

• Shared player status

• Pet Duel rating information

• Guild League synchronization

• Other Pet Duel social features

This means you can use Pet Duel to challenge ordinary players while getting extra functionality when you're battling another Pet Duel user.

Can I Pet Duel Inside a Dungeon or Raid?

No.

World of Warcraft does not allow player pet battle duels inside instances.

Pet Duel cannot bypass server restrictions on where a pet battle is allowed.

Is This the Random PvP Pet Battle Queue?

No.

Blizzard's random PvP pet battle matchmaking still exists separately.

Pet Duel is focused on direct player-to-player pet battle challenges and the community that can grow around them.

Challenge your friends, guildmates, rivals, or players you meet in the world instead of being limited to random matchmaking.

Character-Based Records

Pet Duel records are currently character-based.

Each character develops its own:

• Duel history

• Rival records

• Guild League rating

• Competitive standing

This keeps each character's PvP pet battle record separate.

Commands

Use:

/petduel

or:

/pduel

with a player targeted to quickly send a pet battle challenge.

Use:

/petduel help

to see the available Pet Duel commands for opening the hub, changing your status, changing Rated/Casual mode, managing interface features, sharing league standings, and other options.

Pet Duel is designed for players who:

• Want to challenge other players directly to pet battles in MoP Classic

• Enjoy PvP battle pets

• Want something more social than random pet battle matchmaking

• Want to keep a record of their pet battle wins and losses

Pet Duel is actively being developed.

Useful bug reports should include:

• Pet Duel version

• What you were trying to do

• Whether the other player had Pet Duel installed

• Whether the match was Rated or Casual

• Any Lua error message

• Whether the problem happened before, during, or after the pet battle
