NovaPlates

Compact nameplates. Visible cooldowns. Clear threat.

A free nameplate addon for the original WoW 3.3.5a client / Interface 30300. Track observed enemy PvP cooldowns above their nameplates and read PvE threat at a glance. Modern Retail and Classic clients are not supported.

PvP cooldowns

Icons appear after an observed cast. The oldest cast stays on the left and newer casts join on the right. Five icons are visible, with a +N queue; hidden timers keep counting down.

• 382 ability groups and 1,028 spell IDs, including ranks, racials and pet abilities when their owner is known.
• Colored borders for interrupts, defensives, burst, crowd control, mobility and trinkets.
• Class-colored health bars when the class is identified.
• Tracking starts automatically at login or reload.
• A separate indicator can show your own interrupt cooldown.

PvE threat

• Red: you have aggro.
• Yellow: high threat / close to pulling aggro.
• Green: the identified enemy is targeting your selected tank.

Target your tank and use /np tank, or use /np tank auto for raid Main Tank assignments. NPC cast bars are retained; NPC/boss cooldown prediction is not included.

Installation

1. Extract NovaPlates into World of Warcraft/Interface/AddOns.
2. Check that NovaPlates/NovaPlates.toc is directly inside AddOns.
3. Enable the addon and log in or reload. Press V to show enemy nameplates.
4. When updating, replace the whole NovaPlates folder, including SpellData.lua.

Disable other addons that replace the same nameplates to avoid conflicts.

Commands

• /np compact restores compact sizes.
• /np tank selects your current target as the tank.
• /np test toggles a demonstration panel.
• /np status shows diagnostics.
• /np scale 0.9 adjusts scale.

Timing and limitations

Cooldowns are base estimates from observed casts, not direct reads of an opponent's spellbook. Talents, glyphs, resets and server changes can affect timing. Not every consumable or on-use item is included. Pet timers require an identified owner.

The legacy client has limited nameplate identification. Some indicators are unavailable when a unit cannot be matched safely. The addon does not change maximum nameplate range or click areas. Supplied in-game screenshots demonstrate hunter and warrior duels, not exhaustive testing of every ability.

Version 0.3.1 fixes same-faction duel cooldowns disappearing after target changes. Previously observed attackability is remembered by player GUID and cleared when the duel ends.
