NKThreat-v2.17.0
What's new
NKThreat 2.17.0
Changes since 2.16.2. Entries without a tag apply to every client. Tags mark changes that only concern one client: [WoW Forever], [Retail], [Titan Reforged], [Anniversary], [Classic Era]. Retail and Titan Reforged support is new and not yet tested in-game; reports from those clients are welcome.
Highlights
- Themes. Pick the look of every NKThreat display in one go: Classic (the default), Forever, Neon, Clarity, Tactical, Ghost, Terminal, Sakura, Grove, Void, Ember or Mono. Sizes, positions and behavior stay as they are, and every color can still be changed on its own page. If you change colors afterwards, the theme box shows "Neon (customized)" with Reset to theme and Undo theme change next to it.
- Theme editor (
/nkt theme, or Theme editor... on the main options page). Build a theme from a few values (panel and text colors, font, bar texture, bar colors, toggles) and watch it change live on all displays in test mode. Start from any theme or your current look, then apply it, save it or export it. - Your own themes. Save your look under a name for all your characters (up to 24), and export or import themes as text strings. Imports show a preview first.
- Colorblind-safe colors. One switch puts a blue / yellow / orange palette on top of any theme, covering the threat window, target and focus bars, nameplates, grid, mini graph and analyzer.
- New setup assistant with six clickable steps (Basics, Look, Threat window, Warnings, Nameplates, Finish) and a live preview from the start.
- "New in 2.17" page. Existing users see a short page once, with switches to try the main new features. Nothing changes unless you switch it on.
/nkt newsopens it again any time.
New clients and languages
- [Titan Reforged] Supported: taunt, misdirection, battle resurrection and soulstone spells, Death Knight melee range, Frost Presence as a tank stance. The Salvation check is off there. Not yet tested in-game.
- [Retail] Supported under the same rules as WoW Forever (hidden threat values, no combat log), with spec-based role detection and all current classes in the test roster. Not yet tested in-game.
- Simplified Chinese translation. It is machine-drafted; corrections from native speakers are welcome.
Threat window
- Column headers (Name, TPS, Value, %), off by default. While the window is unlocked you can drag the lines between the titles to resize columns.
- On narrow windows, columns now make room one by one (TPS first, then Value) instead of squeezing the names. On by default; order and exceptions are adjustable.
- Class and role icons in front of the rank. Main tanks and main assists get their marker, pets a pet icon.
- Color bars by rules (as before), class or role, optionally with names in class color.
- Fade bars out of melee range (off by default): the game's own threat data tells who needs 130 % instead of 110 % to pull aggro; those bars are faded. No range check is involved, and your own bar and the tank never fade.
- Bars can grow upwards, the header can sit at the bottom, and automatic height makes the window only as tall as its bars. A second resize grip sits in the bottom-left corner.
- The window can follow your focus instead of your target, or the focus with the target as fallback. Not on Classic Era.
- Your own bar now stays visible outside combat too when it does not fit, above a thin separator line (on by default; both can be switched off).
- Bar tooltips show more: role, pet owner, who holds aggro, your share of the pull threshold, TPS and ETA.
- TPS counts only threat gains: Fade, Feign Death and taunts no longer distort it. The ETA now takes the tank's own TPS into account and disappears while you are not catching up.
- More appearance options, all keeping today's look by default: window border, header colors and texture, fixed bar background, rank styles ("1.", "#1", "01" or hidden), number formats (704k / 704 K / full number), a texture and text color for the pull-aggro bar, and an own opacity for your bar. Target and focus bars get a background color, border, marker color and three new presets (Amber, Matrix, Signal).
- [WoW Forever] [Retail] The threat window and target bar show the hidden percentages the game provides instead of staying empty. The game draws these numbers itself and does not let them be sorted, so tanks come first, then the group in roster order, without rank, TPS and pull-aggro bar.
Nameplates
- Health bar styling (off by default): threat color, a pixel-sharp border and a soft glow. The game's own color returns as soon as a plate leaves combat.
- The plate pulses when you lose aggro on an enemy that is not your target (on by default).
- Off-tank color while another tank holds the enemy (on by default).
- Threat leader: a class or role icon, optionally with the name, shows who has the most threat on each enemy (off by default).
- Test mode now runs on real enemy plates out of combat, cycling through sample states.
- Replacement nameplate addons are detected: NKThreat keeps its text on their bars and leaves their styling alone unless you tell it otherwise.
- Short data gaps no longer make plates blink, enemy players never get an overlay, and the text box has a flat 1 px border.
Alerts
- Role for warnings: Automatic, Tank, DPS or Healer, each with its own threshold. Tanks only get the tank warning (your closest competitor catching up); DPS and healers only the aggro warning. Your current threshold carries over.
- Both warnings now have their own re-arm margin, minimum interval and an optional repeat while you stay above the threshold. The tank warning also has its own sound.
- The tank warning re-arms once the competitor falls the re-arm margin below the danger threshold, instead of below the tank warning threshold. Existing profiles keep their old distance.
- No aggro warning while another tank or a pet holds the mob (on by default).
- Aggro messages (off by default): "X took aggro from Y" for your target or focus, with filters and a taunt grace time. [WoW Forever] [Retail] Limited where the game hides who is who.
- Choose where alerts appear: chat, the error-text line, the screen center, a new movable NKThreat text frame, or any combination.
- Screen flash styles: an edge band (the new default, at 60 % intensity), the classic vignette or a full-screen tint, with adjustable intensity and rhythm. The old look is still there as Vignette at 100 %.
- The target and focus bars show an off-tank state while another tank holds aggro (on by default).
Group and roles
- Tanks are recognized without raid assignments: NKThreat users share their role with the group, so another NKThreat tank counts as a tank even when nobody set Main Tank. Roles set through the game still take priority.
- [Anniversary] [Titan Reforged] [Classic Era] Tank roles picked in the group finder, a role check or the unit menu now count, as they already did on MoP Classic.
/nkt versionslists every group member with their NKThreat version and role. [WoW Forever] [Retail] The list may be incomplete during instance combat, where the game blocks addon messages.- Version announcements go out only when someone joins, and to the guild only at login.
Analyzer and mini graph
- Pet deaths get their own paw icon, color and legend entry, and the tooltip names the owner.
- The mini graph can use fixed line colors instead of class colors; the grid gets cell opacity, line and label colors.
Convenience
- Minimap button (off by default): left-click shows or hides the threat window until your next group or zone change, right-click opens the quick toggles, Shift-click opens the options. Its color is adjustable, and NKThreat also appears in data broker displays. [WoW Forever] [Retail] An addon compartment entry does the same.
- A new key binding shows or hides the threat window temporarily, until the next group or zone change.
- New visibility rules for every window: only in boss fights, hide while resting, hide when flagged for PvP.
- Reset Appearance asks whether to reset only the look or everything.
- New bar textures (NK Underline, Scanline, Hazard, Stripes, Blizzard Glossy / Flat / Raid) and the game's damage and unit name fonts. NK Forever is sharper at the top.
- Classic clients get a note at the update interval slider: the game hands threat values to addons at irregular intervals, so a change can take up to about a second to show.
Look and feel
- All tooltips use NKThreat's own dark style, including the analyzer and grid.
- Context menus are more compact; Chinese clients keep their font size.
- Windows get a flat close button instead of the game's red one.
Fixed
- Two-digit ranks could be cut to "…" with wide or outlined fonts.
- Text shadows on the threat window, target and focus bars and nameplates could stay invisible.
- Names, numbers and icons in the threat window now always sit above the row background.
- Resizing the threat window is smoother, ends on whole rows, fills new rows right away and recovers cleanly when interrupted. With bar spacing above 0 the window showed one bar less than fit.
- Opening the options in combat raised an error; now a short note appears and the options open when combat ends.
- The compact list tooltip lists everything the compact list actually keeps.
- "Detected role" on the warnings pages updates when you change stance, form or spec.
- Exporting a profile you had not used since an older version no longer loses renamed settings.
- An error in one update step during group changes or boss encounters no longer skips the remaining updates.
- [Classic Era] Classic Era and MoP Classic no longer list NKThreat as out of date.
- [WoW Forever] [Retail] The opacity slider for colors worked in reverse. Retail: not yet tested in-game.
