What's new

Nightwatch 0.6.1

Update Changelog – v0.6.0 to v0.6.1

Nightwatch 0.6.1 improves the PvP interface with dedicated Overview and Journal layouts, stronger ruleset separation, clearer faction labels, an updated Threat Meter, and more accurate Heatmap activity counting. This release also adds notifications for newer stable Nightwatch versions.

PvP Navigation & Overview

  • Reorganized PvP navigation, with Overview / Journal on the left and Leaderboard / Heatmap on the right.
  • Added colored Hot Zone trend indicators comparing the latest five minutes of recorded activity with the previous five-minute period.

Hot Zone trends describe recorded activity, not a verified live count of enemies currently present.

Dedicated PvP Journal Layout

  • Kept the mini leaderboard and Hot Zones exclusive to Overview.
  • Added Journal Summary, showing the number of saved players, KoS targets, and players with personal notes.
  • Added a scrollable KoS Targets table, ordered by the most recent sighting.
  • Enabled direct profile access from observed KoS target rows.
  • Kept imported, not-yet-observed KoS targets visible, with an explanatory message when their profile is unavailable.

Ruleset Separation & Synchronization

  • Separated PvP Journal records by ruleset and the logged-in character’s faction.
  • Separated player profile names, publication preferences, and linked alternate characters by ruleset.
  • Strengthened leaderboard isolation to prevent Normal records from appearing on the PvP ruleset.
  • Introduced leaderboard snapshot v4, which includes the originating ruleset in each published record.
  • Added ruleset validation before accepting records into Mesh synchronization.
  • Added explicit ruleset tags to persisted peer caches.
  • Cleared ambiguous older community caches for resynchronization without deleting local profiles, alt links, or scores.

Leaderboard synchronization now requires scope-bearing v4 snapshots. Other clients must update to exchange standings with this release.

Player Profiles & Alt Management

  • Added a scrollable linked-character table with individual Unlink controls.
  • Restricted PvP-ruleset profiles to a single faction.
  • Allowed Normal-ruleset profiles to contain characters from both factions, with faction information shown per character.
  • Removed redundant internal game-mode IDs from Journal and player-profile captions.

Dedicated Hardcore and RP ruleset mappings are not yet implemented.

Faction-Aware Leaderboard

  • Added reported faction information to published leaderboard snapshots.
  • Displayed faction labels after player or profile names, using smaller, colored text in parentheses.
  • On the PvP ruleset, faction appears beside the linked profile.
  • On the Normal ruleset, faction appears beside each contributing character.
  • Preserved Streamer Mode name masking with the updated labels.

Faction information is player-reported, not server-verified.

Enemy Profiles & Threat Meter

  • Added matched-character weekly killing blows and leaderboard score where available.
  • Updated threat calculation to use weekly leaderboard score when available, with a local estimate as fallback.

Heatmap & Encounter Accuracy

  • Added a minimum five-minute deduplication window for repeated scans and PvP event types involving the same enemy character.
  • Updated local Heatmap totals, hotspots, zone statistics, and trend windows to deduplicate by unique character GUID.
  • Prevented repeated stored samples from inflating local unique-character counts.
  • Upgraded legacy short deduplication settings to the new minimum.
  • Preserved supplied aggregate counts for group and community reports, which do not contain individual enemy identities.
  • Added a five-minute cooldown for repeated sightings of the same opponent in Recent Encounters.

Community Heatmap information remains delayed and approximate, not a live player-position tracker.

New-Version Notifications

Added a chat notification when a compatible Nightwatch peer advertises a newer stable release: "Nightwatch: New version available: 0.6.1. Please update on CurseForge!"

  • Supported version exchange through NWN and enabled Battle.net connections.
  • Added numeric version comparison.
  • Limited notifications to once per newer detected version per UI session.
  • Excluded beta and development version strings from stable-release notices.

Version discovery relies on other players’ installed versions. Nightwatch does not directly query CurseForge or automatically download updates.

Interface Fixes & Validation

  • Fixed the About dialog remaining behind the main window when Nightwatch receives focus.
  • Corrected mini-panel header spacing and numeric-column alignment.
  • Added regression coverage for ruleset isolation, cache restoration, Journal summaries, profile settings, Heatmap deduplication, faction-label rendering, and version notifications.

Privacy & Compatibility

Personal Journal entries, notes, and private KoS records remain local. Community activity sharing, profile publication, and Battle.net relay continue to follow their respective permissions.

Community leaderboard information is player-published rather than server-verified.
