Musician
Listen to and play music with nearby players. For the first time in World of Warcraft, your character can literally become a bard!
Description
Musician allows your character to play music that can be heard by the other players nearby, provided that they have installed the add-on as well. Any song file in MIDI format can be played. There are 24 instruments available including lute, harp, trumpet, violin, war horn but also drum kit and electric guitar. It's also possible to perform live music using your computer keyboard as a piano.
How to use
To listen to the music played by the other players, there is nothing to do but having the add-on installed. The music can be heard within a range of 40 meters. It's possible to block the music from specific characters using the player menu. If you have enabled the nameplates, a 🎵 icon will show up next to the name of the players who also have installed Musician. In addition, super cool musical notes will animate while playing!
To play music, click on the minimap icon to open the menu, select Import and play a song then follow the instructions. Songs can be saved in game using the optional Musician List add-on. To play live, click Open keyboard in the main menu. It's also possible to play with a MIDI keyboard using Musician MIDI.
There is a lot of other features. Check out the README and the Wiki to learn more. In addition, you can join the Discord server to get live support, share music, report bugs etc.

I have no idea why this would be the case, but if I try to change the short name of a community I own, Musician starts throwing errors.
EDIT: Also happens if I try to generate an invite link for said community.

Hi, what kind of error ? Can you please report it here with screenshots ? https://github.com/LenweSaralonde/Musician/issues
In reply to glasslioncharlie:
I managed to get an error in MusicianList while trying to rename a song after inviting someone in a community. Unfortunately, it appears to be a Blizzard bug because I get the same error with other add-ons such as Total RP 3 and even with a simple macro with all add-ons disabled. I can't do anything against it but reporting the issue to Blizzard, hopefully they'll fix it Soon™.
In the meantime, if this happens again, just do a /reload and everything will go back to normal.
I just updated the addon and I've got an issue where I can no longer hear the music that I'm playing.Others around me can hear it, but I cannot. I checked the audio settings and neither the game audio nor the Addon itself is muted.
Nvm, the problem self corrected after maintenance. All is good againCurrently experiencing a bug where any and all nameplates are invisible while Musician is enabled. Doesn't matter if they're default nameplates or addon nameplates, if Musician is enabled, they're completely invisible.
In reply to CindriKat:
Do you have any nameplate addon ?
In reply to LenweSaralonde:
I normally use Kui Nameplates, which has also been broken since pre-patch launched, but even without it enabled nameplates disappear when Musician is enabled.
In reply to CindriKat:
KuiNameplates is broken unfortunately :/ It triggers errors and hides all nameplates.
Try disabling any other nameplate addon you may have.
Also check your Interface options and make sure all "name" > "Friendly" options are enabled (there are several options with the same name that need to be checked).
Otherwise, try opening the Musician options then uncheck / check the Nameplates checkbox, it should enable the correct options for you.
Is there a way to get rid of this dropdown menu that Musician adds on top of my minimap? I already have an addon for compartmentalizing minimap buttons, but this one sticks out. The "1" in the upper right hand corner is what I am referring to. I disabled all of my addons and re-enabled them one by one, and Musician made that appear.
In reply to strchsr:
That's a new standard tray Blizzard implemented to put add-on buttons. It still looks a bit experimental but I will add options to enable or disable the minimap button and / or the add-on tray.
In reply to strchsr:
Please update to v1.9.5.0 . You'll find some checkboxes in the Musician options panel to disable the minimap button and menu. If Musician is your only add-on using the minimap menu, the [1] button will disappear.
In reply to LenweSaralonde:
Had to wait for CurseForge to catch up with the update, but it works, thanks!
Can there be an option to disable the loading screen?
In reply to strchsr:
There is already one
In reply to LenweSaralonde:
Ah, I didn't see it right away.
I keep getting "New version alerts" but from what I can tell I have the latest version from Curse. I even told it to re-install a couple times.
In reply to TheHartTech:
CurseForge has issues finding the correct version. Click on Musician in the CurseForge app then go to the "Versions" tab and install the topmost one for WoW 10.0.0.
Lately I've been getting an error message "Your version of Musician is outdated and does not work anymore. Please download the update from ___" Then it sends me to this website. I have WowUp app and I've checked for updates and reinstalled this app several times but get the same popup. Is there something I am doing incorrectly?
In reply to faelunir:
Unfortunately, WoWUp may not be updating the add-ons that are hosted on CurseForge anymore. Try updating using the CurseForge client or downloading the update manually from the website.
In reply to faelunir:
Hey, I'm a WowUp moderator. Can you come to our discord so we can troubleshoot the issue? We can try to figure out what is going on and why its giving you that message in game.
