MSBR Gear Optimizer v0.2.0

This update introduces major Classic support, improved weapon and enchant evaluation, a cleaner stat panel, and several UI and stability fixes.

Classic Support

  • Added a complete Vanilla Classic equipment database with more than 9,000 usable items.
  • Added Classic enchantments, crafted items, item effects, random properties, random suffixes, and item sets.
  • Added automatic Classic client detection.
  • Added automatic class- and talent-based Classic stat weight presets.
  • Added Classic-specific combat rules, rating conversions, defense cap calculations, and boss-level handling.
  • Classic and TBC databases, presets, enchantments, and gems are now separated automatically.
  • TBC items can still be evaluated with Classic rules when the database version is manually changed.

Completely Rebuilt Item Finder

The Item Finder has been rewritten from the ground up.

  • Replaced the old server-query-based system with a much faster local database.
  • Improved overall responsiveness and search performance.
  • Added new filtering and configuration options.
  • Redesigned the interface to be more user-friendly.
  • Improved the visual layout and readability of search results.

Weapon Evaluation

  • Added Weapon DPS scoring to the optimizer.
  • Added main-hand, off-hand, and ranged attack speed display.
  • Added specialization-specific weapon speed preferences.
  • Added Enhancement Shaman weapon synchronization scoring.
  • Enhancement Shamans now receive a bonus for matching main-hand and off-hand weapon speeds.
  • Added Weapon Sync Delta to the character stat panel.
  • Hunter ranged weapons are evaluated by their ranged DPS, while melee weapons remain stat sticks.
  • Feral Druids no longer receive incorrect Weapon DPS scoring.
  • Off-hand Weapon DPS uses reduced contribution.

Enchant Evaluation

  • Improved evaluation of proc-based weapon enchantments.
  • Mongoose is now evaluated using its average modeled Agility and Haste uptime instead of being compared only through flat weapon damage.
  • Flat weapon damage enchantments still contribute to the weapon's calculated DPS.
  • Enchant recommendation tooltips now show modeled average proc values.
  • Clarified the Weapon DPS tooltip to explain that armor stats and proc effects are scored separately.

Character Stat Panel

The left-side stat panel is now divided into clearer sections:

  • Primary Stats
  • Resources
  • Defense
  • Melee / Ranged
  • Spell / Healing
  • Resistances

Primary stats now follow the standard WoW character sheet order:

  1. Strength
  2. Agility
  3. Stamina
  4. Intellect
  5. Spirit

Additional improvements:

  • Added Glancing Blow chance for relevant Classic melee classes.
  • Added current main-hand, off-hand, and ranged attack speed.
  • Added Arcane, Fire, Frost, Nature, and Shadow Resistance for every Classic class.
  • Holy Resistance is not included because it does not exist as a usable resistance stat.
  • Mana is hidden automatically for classes that do not use mana.
  • Expansion-specific and unavailable stats are hidden automatically.
  • The stat panel is scrollable and only displays its scrollbar when required.

Interface Improvements

  • The main window and Optimizer Settings window can now be resized.
  • Window sizes are saved between sessions.
  • Added a draggable divider for resizing the left stat panel.
  • Fixed random window resizing when clicking the resize handle.
  • Fixed scrollbars appearing outside their panels.
  • Fixed table separators extending beyond the visible settings rows.
  • Added a managed minimap button with saved positioning.
  • Added an optional animated minimap gear icon.
  • The minimap animation can be disabled in the addon options.
  • Added a button for resetting saved window sizes.

Fixes

  • Fixed Clear Locks not clearing the active lock table.
  • Clear Locks now immediately refreshes the interface and reports how many locks were removed.
  • Fixed old optimizer results remaining visible after changing expansion databases.
  • Fixed Classic mode attempting to recommend TBC gems.
  • Fixed invalid gem tooltips passing a missing item ID to the Blizzard Item API.
  • Fixed addon initialization failing during client version detection.
  • Fixed slash commands, options registration, and minimap initialization being interrupted by startup errors.
  • Improved large-database Finder processing to avoid script ran too long errors.

Debug Mode

Debug output is now disabled by default.

It can be controlled with:

/mgo debug on
/mgo debug off
/mgo debug status
/mgo debug
