Item links, restored in the channels that strip them. Classic Era and TBC Classic.
Blizzard removes item links from LookingForGroup. What arrives is the bare item name, and when two items were linked back to back even the space between them is gone:
LFG: Glacial SpikeArcane Crystal PendantFire Ruby
Missing Link turns that back into three separate, clickable links.
It works whether or not anyone else has it
Reading works on everyone. Item names in chat become real links you can click, hover and shift-click — including names sent by people who don't have the addon. You get the benefit the moment you install it, with nobody else needing to do anything.
Sending needs the addon. To have your links survive a stripping channel, you need
Missing Link installed. Shift-click an item exactly as you always have and it goes out as
[Glacial Spike] — no prefixes, no markers, nothing ugly for people without it.
Lightweight
No minimap button, no addon-to-addon messaging, no hidden traffic, nothing to sync. It never filters or swallows a chat message, only ever adds to one, so WIM, Prat, Chattynator and Basic Chat Mods keep working exactly as they did.
It has no item database to ship, either — it learns names from the real links your client already shows you (bags, chat, loot, merchants, the auction house), account-wide and permanent, so it only gets better as you play.
Settings
/ml or /missing opens the settings window.
- Channels — which channels to rewrite your outgoing links in. LookingForGroup is on by default; the rest are off, because rewriting a link in a channel that carries it fine is a downgrade. It also detects stripping on its own and switches a channel on if a link you sent comes back stripped.
- Relink names typed as text — Off, Multi-word (default) or Every name. The default matches names of two or more words, which covers 98% of items and never collides with ordinary chat. "Every name" also catches single-word items like Coal, at the cost of the occasional false match.
- Put back missing spaces and colour links by item quality — both on by default.
Names shared by more than one item are never linked. A wrong link is worse than no link.
