What's new

- Heal and cooldown effects on the unit frames are bolder and play across the whole frame: the portrait and the bars each get their own part of the moment, and the gold border lights all round the frame, its top where the name is too.
- A heal bursts with a shockwave and stars flung off the frame, a heal over time seals onto the portrait, a shield's barrier closes round the frame in its own shape, Blessing of Protection stamps its crest onto the portrait, Lay on Hands drops a column of light, a resurrection unfolds wings behind the frame, a group heal runs through the group as a wave, Chain Heal bursts along the bars of every frame it reaches.
- Cooldowns: a roar sends square shockwaves out of the frame, a taunt springs a red !, Shield Wall, Barkskin and Dispersion clamp steel guards onto it, Last Stand and Vengeance beat a heart, Divine Shield, Divine Protection and Ice Block grow a golden barrier, Evasion and Deterrence leave afterimages.
- In a raid they stay inside each frame. The Quiet look keeps its own.
- Buff Landings: a buff landing on your group plays on its frame: motes spiral round the portrait into the buff's star while a light runs along the frame, in its school's colour (Fortitude gold, Mark of the Wild green, Arcane Intellect blue, Shadow Protection violet, Battle Shout amber), whoever cast it. A group buff runs out from the caster's frame, a buff on your target lands on the target frame too, and in a raid each frame only glints. Buffs you can only cast on yourself play nothing. Its switch is in Heal Effects.
- Party frames: Flip Horizontally (Party > Layout) mirrors the party portraits for a party on the right side of the screen: the portrait on the right, the name, level, bars, icons and buffs to its left. The effects play mirrored too.
- The frame previews in the configurator: a part you drag stays inside the preview, and the preview fits the frame with every part shown on it. The party portraits' preview shows the members' aura row as the game does.
- Indicators: right-click one on the preview to remove it, and size its time and stacks right under the preview (Party or Raid > Indicators).
- Indicators: spell groups (Party or Raid > Indicators). Drag a whole group onto your frame: your heals over time, your shields, your other buffs, defensives from others, their own defensives, haste and power, speed and freedom, group buffs, lockouts (Forbearance, Weakened Soul), and debuffs by their kind. Each group holds every class's spells, read from the game's own spell data, each with its switch; move a spell to another group, add one by name, or show them in your own order with a colour each. Every class starts with a set of its own; lists you made yourself stay as they are.
- Party and raid frames: one look. A party in raid frames now wears the look you set on Raid; the Party page is for the party frames with portraits.
- Hide Combat Flash, unticked, now shows a soft halo round each unit frame's own shape while it has threat: amber when close to pulling, red while holding the enemy. It fits the player, target, focus, pet and party portraits in every skin, and the game's own flash, which never fitted the frames, stays hidden.
- Hide Heal Numbers (Unit & Group Frames > Player, its portrait): your portrait no longer shows the green numbers of the heals you take; damage, misses and mana gains still show.
- Your party stays in one place when you switch between raid frames and portraits, and your raid frames keep their top-left corner when you change how many stand in a column (the top-right for a party flipped to the right).
- Damage Meter: your numbers and your party's now sit in a small tab on the end of the name plate, on your player frame and on each party frame, in the frame's own look; yours move, scale and fade with your frame (Your Values no longer has its own box in Edit Layout). The party's no longer turn on the game's Show Party Pets, which is back to your own setting.
- Preview (the configurator's footer): Solo Fight, Party Fight and the new Raid Fight. Each shows only its own group frames: none alone, your party in the look you picked, the raid in a raid.
- Oldschool has its own icons, hand-painted RPG pictures in square iron frames. The icons follow your skin: Default shows the game's own, Modern MelloUI's, Oldschool its painted set.
- Modern has its own sounds. Custom Sounds follows your skin: Modern plays its own clicks, windows, items and alerts, Oldschool keeps the iron and leather ones, and the Default skin keeps the game's own.
- Fixed: Show Yourself In Your Party did nothing with Party Frames (Portraits). Your frame now shows on top of your party with your role and the leader's crown, and the members stand under it, Party Spacing apart.
- Party Frames (Portraits) are a size larger at 100%, about as tall as your own frame; Edit Mode's Frame Size and Edit Layout's size still change them.
- Mouseover Highlight: the party and raid frame under your mouse lights up, its gold brighter with a soft glow behind and a crisp outline round its shape; the plate of whatever your mouse is over gets the outline too. Each has its switch (Party, Raid and Nameplates, Behaviour).
- Skin (Look > General): Default gives MelloUI's own windows the game's own look and keeps everything they do: the game's window frame with its round portrait, title bar and red close; the bag window as the game's backpack, the money in its coin box; the chat's channels as the game's chat tabs along the top; the whisper window like the game's Guild & Communities; the Quest Tracker under the game's tracker headers; the minimap column in the game's window border. The configurator keeps its own painting.
- Under Default MelloUI's buttons, tabs, check boxes, icons and fonts are the game's, its grounds the game's dark grey and a selection a dark gold, and the unit frames and action buttons are the game's own. Modern stays as it is.
- Skin (Look > General) lists Default, Modern and Oldschool and shows the one in use; Oldschool's Painted Kit Reskin switch is now its Oldschool choice there, and picking it switches UI Modifications on.
- Fixed: with MelloUI Oldschool installed, the Personal Display wore Oldschool's painted frame in the Modern and Default skins too.
- Fixed: a new player with MelloUI Oldschool installed gets the installer at the first login again, and switching UI Modifications on by hand shows Oldschool's painted look.
- One setup for every skin: the installer gives Default, Modern and Oldschool the same MelloUI setup and sets your skin on top. MelloUI's own places for the minimap, the chat, the damage meter and the Quest Tracker now win over the Edit Mode layout's, and a Fit to this screen keeps them.
- The installer lays MelloUI's places out for your screen's shape: on a wide screen the chat stays at the left edge, and the minimap with the Quest Tracker under it at the right.
- Moved frames keep their distance from the nearest screen edge (or the middle), as Edit Mode does: change your window's shape or resolution and they stay at the same edges. Frames you placed before keep their spot until you move them once.
- The installer shows real pictures of MelloUI in your skin, where a picture helps: the skin, the party frames, the nameplates, the chat, the minimap and its column, and the bag window. Each picture is shown at its own shape and never blurred.
- The installer reloads the UI when you keep your new setup, so everything takes it at once (in a fight, Keep waits for the fight's end).
- A new installer: everyone goes through it step by step. Your skin comes first (Default, Modern or Oldschool), then your layout, party and raid frames, quests and travel, combat, chat, minimap, bags and sounds, each with a picture of what you pick, in your skin. It replaces the four setups and Fresh start.
- Fixed: the Damage Meter's Parchment switch could not be changed without MelloUI Oldschool. It is on the Damage Meter page now (Look) and works in every skin.
- Under Default, the heal and cooldown effects play the same moments with pieces painted like the game's own spell light. Under Oldschool they play them too, painted like its RPG art.
- Under Default, the party frames wear the Forever client's own high-resolution party frame, a size larger and sharp when you scale them up (Flip Horizontally too), and the raid frames the game's raid frame look (unless you picked a Bar Texture for them); the heal, cooldown and threat effects sit on each frame's own ring and border. Route, the map, the Quest List and Voice Over use the game's own marks and buttons, and the damage meter has no parchment, its list of everyone on the game's see-through chat box.
- Fixed: the plain buttons in Dungeon Info and on the map made no sound. They click now.
- Chat: more room for your messages. The installer sets the chat's text to 14 (the game's own setting, still yours to change), MelloUI's layout makes the chat taller, and the whisper window is taller with more space round its bubbles. Its list of people lines up with the chat's tabs, and under Default its bubbles keep their text inside the game's bubble border.
- Chat: the text size picked in a chat window's menu now stays after a /reload.
- Chat: the chat's Background opacity, from your Background Opacity or the game's colour picker (right-click a tab), shows on Chat View's box at once, each tab with its own.
- The configurator is one painted window in each skin: its pages down the left, the page's title, switch and tabs across the top, Reset this page, Language, Preview, Install… and Close along the bottom; only the middle changes as you go. While it is open its painting moves a little: flames along Modern's lines and its compass roses, which swing as you change page, a lamp's glint on Default's metal, candlelight and embers on Oldschool's stone. Reduce Motion keeps it still. Under Oldschool the pages lie on its parchment, written in dark ink. Parts of its design come from EllesmereUI, used with its author's kind permission (thanks on Home's Help card).
- The frame designers (Unit & Group Frames, Nameplates, Bars, Minimap): the frames are the page's tabs, and the parts are quiet chips in one row under the preview.
- Fixed: MelloUI's own texts did not follow the game's Interface text size.
- The configurator's page tabs are plain words in one row: the open one in gold over a short glowing line; a row too long for the header scrolls, with an arrow and the mouse wheel.
- Profiles and share strings keep every setting exactly: the Unit Frames Designer's parts, lists of items and spells, and positions to the last digit come back as saved.
- An exported profile remembers the screen it was made on, so its places fit another player's screen shape.
- A feature addon you turned off no longer puts your own data (flight points, saved game settings) into profiles or share strings, and the bag window's record of the items you have seen stays yours too.
- Importing refuses a string that is damaged or far longer than any profile.
- The options stand two to a line, each one's note under its name; a module's own switch, long lists and headings take the whole width. Options that only work while a switch is on are no longer greyed out: they show as soon as you switch it on, and a switch's own settings sit behind the cog beside it. A search for a hidden option takes you to the switch that shows it.
- Quality of Life: Automation, Screen Text, Reminders & Widgets and Tooltip are one page now, their tabs side by side (Vendor, Restock, Quests, Notices, Combat Text, Gains, Error Messages, Reminders, Widgets, FPS / Latency, Tooltip), and the side list is shorter.
- Look holds every font and every bar texture. Fonts: the Font Style, its sizes and faces, then a card for each part with fonts of its own (Unit Frames, Party & Raid, Buffs & Debuffs, Personal Display, Quest Tracker, Combat Text, FPS / Latency). Textures: Every Bar, then each kind of bar (Same as Every Bar until you pick one), the tooltip's and the chat's backgrounds and borders. Colours: the health bar colours and the execute range. The frames' pages show a link to each.
- Oldschool's configurator is easier to read: the stone under the page list is quieter, and on the frame designers the frames and their parts are written in ink on the parchment (the picked one in red, underlined), the preview on a warm dark in a bronze edge. A Parts row too long for the page fades into the parchment under its scroll arrows.
- One Game Menu for every skin: MelloUI Oldschool no longer paints its own menu.
- Edit Layout: a slim dock across the top of the screen in place of the bar in the middle: Elements, Grid, Snap, Dim the world, Coordinates, Keybind Mode, Reset all, How it works, Exit and Save & Exit. Right-click Grid for its spacing, Snap for the gap it keeps.
- Edit Layout's Elements list: every part you can move, in groups (Frames, Action Bars, Combat, Text & Notices, Map & Quests, Chat, Windows, Misc), with a search. Show or hide each part's box, lock a part in place, or show one group or one part alone; the part under your mouse lights up. Your choices are kept.
- A part's box in Edit Layout (right-click) holds the game's Edit Mode settings for it: the action bars' rows, icons and size, the unit frames' sizes, the cast bar, buffs and debuffs, the chat window's width and height, the minimap and the rest. They are saved with Save and show after a /reload.
- Quest Tracker: a Background Opacity slider (Quest Tracker > Look), also in its Edit Layout box with Height and Text Size; the Opacity and Text Size you save for the game's tracker in Edit Mode reach it too.
- Numbers Over Enemies (Quality of Life > Combat Text > Text) is back on Forever: it sizes the game's damage numbers over enemies, and MelloUI's Your Damage follows it.
- Level Up Card: each level shows a small window with the stats you gained and the spells now at your class trainer, with a route to the nearest trainer (Bars > XP & Rep). It opens from a spark rising off your character; several levels at once make one card.
- Services: the AddOns group takes every addon's minimap button now, not only the ones made with LibDBIcon: an addon's own button, one it shows or makes later, and those of addons loaded later. Map pins and the game's own minimap buttons stay on the map.
- Edit Layout: an action bar's Bar Visible offers On Mouseover too: the bar fades until you point at it, the same choice as on the Fader page.
- Edit Layout shows every part of the game's Edit Mode, the ones the game hides right now too (party, raid and boss frames, the loot window, durability, timer bars, the cooldown viewer, the damage meter and the rest of Edit Mode's own list): turn on a part's eye in the Elements list to show, move and set it. The game's own switches (Cooldown Viewer, Damage Meter, Loot window under the mouse ...) are in their boxes.
- Edit Layout: one highlight. The part you pick, and the part you drag, shows a gold border and a soft glow; the gold wash over it is gone, so the part shows through.
- Dark Mode: one Brightness for the whole interface: MelloUI's own windows and frames too, the game's art and the painted reskin. Icons and text keep their colours; the micro menu's and bag bar's icons are no longer darkened. Reskin Brightness is gone.
- Dark Mode reaches MelloUI's own unit, party and raid frames, action bars, experience bars, the Personal Display's bars and shield, the cast bar and every window, in each skin. All its switches are on its own tab (Look > Dark Mode), with a new Windows switch; the chat's Background no longer turns it on or off.
- The Fader lists everything that fades, on four tabs (General, Frames, Bars, Chat, Map & More); the Focus Frame and the FPS / Latency readout can fade too. Each part's page links to its Fade.
- Every option's description is shorter and plainer.
- Removed: Swing Timer Border (unused since the swing badge) and Shade: Buffs (it showed nothing at the default spacing; the buffs' shade follows the UI Shade).
