MeierHelpers

Small helpers for everyday WoW - one settings window, one look, one positioning mode.

MeierHelpers is a suite of small, focused helper modules. Every module is its own addon, but they all share one settings window, one look and one way to position their windows - so everything feels like it belongs together, no matter how many helpers you use.

What's included

MeierHelpers (core)

• One settings window for every module - /mh. One page per module, each with an on/off switch. Switch a module off and it's gone right away: no window, no events, no reload.
• One look for everything. Accent color (class color or custom), label color, font, outline, drop shadow, background, border, border thickness, bar texture and window scale apply to every module window at once - and to the settings window, the tooltips and the menus as well. Labels take your class color by default, values stay bright, in every module. MeierHelpers brings its own tooltips, dropdowns and check boxes instead of Blizzard's, so nothing looks out of place.
• SharedMedia support. Fonts and bar textures from SharedMedia addons show up in the lists automatically.
• Positioning mode - /mh unlock. A grid and a movable frame for every window. Windows snap to the screen center, to each other and to the grid, with guide lines while you drag. Fine-tune with the arrow keys, right-click puts a window back to its default spot, and Cancel undoes all moves.
• Minimap button. Left-click opens the settings, right-click the positioning mode. Drag it along the minimap edge (round or square) or switch it off in the settings.

MeierHelpers Level

How many mobs until your next level? A slim window shows the kills you still need, how long that takes at your current pace, your average XP per mob and your XP bar with the rested marker.

• Time to level. 155 Mobs 1h 30m - the estimate comes from how fast kill XP is actually coming in. Breaks of more than three minutes don't count, so a ride across the map doesn't ruin it.
• Only real kills count. XP from quests, exploration and other sources never touches the average. Kill messages are recognized from the game's own localized texts - in every client language.
• Rested XP done right. The average shows what a kill gives you right now, just like your chat. The forecast knows that rested XP runs out: if it ends before your level-up, the tooltip shows how many kills you make while rested and how many come after.
• A steady average. From 5 kills on, the highest and the lowest value are left out, so a single elite or grey mob doesn't throw the forecast off.
• Hides itself at max level and during pet battles.
• Counted kills are saved per character.
• Right-click the window for a menu: preview, reset statistics, positioning mode, settings.

MeierHelpers Bubbles

Chat bubbles that don't cover half the screen.

• Smaller text, smaller bubbles. Set the font size, the font (Blizzard's, the one from your MeierHelpers settings or any other, SharedMedia included), outline and drop shadow. The bubble shrinks with its text, in instances too.
• Your own look. Outside instances, the bubbles get your look instead of Blizzard's thick frame: background and border colors, border thickness, text color (or Blizzard's color per chat type), maximum width, margin and height offset. You pick the channels: Say, Yell, Party, Raid, NPCs, Emotes.
• Hide in instances (optional). No bubbles in dungeons, raids, battlegrounds, arenas and scenarios. You get your own chat bubble setting back when you leave.
• Lightweight: works only with game events and does nothing while nobody is talking.

MeierHelpers BagValue

What are your bags worth? A slim bar shows the vendor value of everything you carry and, with Auctionator installed, the auction value as well.

• The tooltip adds the number of different items and your most valuable ones.
• Item list (left-click the bar or /mbv): every item with its ID, count, vendor and auction value, per item and in total. Sort by any column, scroll with the mouse wheel.
• Leave items out. One click on the box in front of a row and the item stops counting toward the bar - for the gear you keep for later. It stays in the list, just dimmed.
• One click, one free bag slot. The trash button on the bar deletes the cheapest grey item you carry - cheapest counted per stack, because that's what the slot really costs you. Point at it to see the five cheapest and which one is next. Put it left or right, switch it off, or ask it for a confirming second click. It never touches anything that isn't grey, no quest items, and nothing you left out in the item list.
• Honest auction values: soulbound items can't be sold, so they don't count.
• Auctionator is optional. Without it you still get the vendor value.
• Lightweight: your bags are read once after a change has settled, not once per changed slot, and vendor prices are remembered.

MeierHelpers Numbers

Fewer numbers in your face.

• Clean portraits. Hides the damage and healing numbers on your player and pet portraits. Player and pet can be set separately, and changes apply right away with no /reload.
• Floating combat text, your way. Switch your damage, periodic damage, pet damage, healing and shield numbers over the target on or off, and decide whether the numbers fly sideways. These are Blizzard's own settings, which are no longer in the game options. They stay exactly as you set them.
• Pet frame text size. Resize the pet's name, health and resource text.
• Lightweight: no events, no timers.

Usage

Also available via the minimap button and the addon compartment next to the minimap (left-click: settings, right-click: positioning mode), and under Options > AddOns > MeierHelpers.

Installation

The download contains all modules: MeierHelpers (required), MeierHelpers Level, MeierHelpers Bubbles, MeierHelpers Numbers and MeierHelpers BagValue. Don't need a module? Switch it off in the settings - or disable it in the addon list.

Any string that isn't translated falls back to English, so nothing ever shows up blank.

Good to know

• Made for WoW Forever (interface 16001), also runs on Retail (Midnight, 12.1.0).
• WoW Forever beta: the beta client currently doesn't load saved settings for any addon, including Blizzard's own. Until Blizzard fixes this, every login starts with the default settings.
• Settings and window positions are account-wide; the Level statistics are per character.
• No embedded libraries. SharedMedia and Auctionator are optional.
• Lightweight: everything reacts to game events. Nothing runs in the background while you aren't using it.
