Malkorok Smash Helper
Malkorok Smash Helper is a standalone raid helper for Malkorok in Siege of Orgrimmar. It helps your raid track which sectors of the room were hit by Arcing Smash, so the raid can quickly identify the safe area before Breath of Y'Shaarj.
Main Idea
Malkoroks Room is represented as a circle divided into six sectors. During the fight, Arcing Smash hits different areas of the room. Those areas become dangerous for the upcoming Breath of Y'Shaarj. The addon lets the raid leader or assistant mark these sectors visually, broadcast the choice to other addon users, and keep the whole raid aligned.
Requirements
For raid wide syncing to work:
- The raid leader or raid assistant must actively mark sectors
- Every raider who should see the synced sectors needs to have the addon installed and enabled
- Players without the addon will not see the helper updates
- Non assist players can use the helper locally, but they cannot broadcast marks to the raid
Slash Commands
Use either command:
/mal
/malkorok
Opening the command without arguments opens the addon GUI.
Available commands:
/mal load
/mal ai
/mal close
/mal reset
How To Use The Helper
- Open the addon with
/mal
- Click Load Helper
- During the fight, watch where Arcing Smash lands
- Left-click the affected sector in the helper circle to mark it as dangerous
- Right-click a sector to clear it again
- Before Breath of Y'Shaarj, the red sectors are dangerous and the remaining green sectors are the safe options
Texture And Color Meaning
Green Sectors
Green means the sector is currently considered clear or safe.
Red Sectors
Red means the sector was marked as hit by Arcing Smash and should be treated as dangerous for Breath of Y'Shaarj.
Yellow / Orange Highlight
Yellow or orange is used by the AI mode as a temporary attention highlight. It means the AI has selected or suggested a sector and is briefly emphasizing it before the sector returns to its normal danger color.
Player Dots
When Raid Dots are enabled, the addon shows player positions inside the helper circle. These dots are classcolored and help you see how the raid is distributed across the room.
World Marker Overlay
The Show World Markers option displays colored marker references on the helper circle. These help your raid match spoken calls, marker colors, and helper sectors.
This does not automatically place Blizzard world markers on the ground. It is only a visual overlay inside the addon.
Breath Icon And Timer
The spell icon near the helper shows the estimated timing for the next major AoE cycle. It helps you prepare for Breath of Y'Shaarj after the Smash sequence.
AI Mode
AI Mode is an experimental helper mode designed to assist with detecting the likely Arcing Smash sector. When AI Mode is enabled, the addon listens for Arcing Smash events. After the smash, it waits briefly, checks the raids position distribution, and looks for the sector with the lowest number of living players.
The logic behind this is simple:
- The sector hit by Arcing Smash is usually avoided shortly after impact.
- Therefore, the affected sector often has fewer players standing in it.
- The AI marks the least occupied sector as the likely dangerous sector.
- If you are raid leader or raid assistant, this mark can be broadcast to the raid.
Important AI Limitations
AI Mode is still beta and not fully developed.
It can be wrong if:
- Players move late
- Players stand in unusual positions
- The raid is spread unevenly
- Dead players or off-map positions affect the count
- The fight is being handled differently by your strategy
- You are using it in a smaller raid size where fewer players make sector counting less reliable
You can always correct the AI immediately:
- Left-click a sector to mark it red
- Right-click a sector to clear it
Manual correction always matters. The AI is a helper, not a replacement for raid awareness.
Raid Sizes
The manual helper can be used for both 10-player and 25-player raids. AI Mode is primarily intended for 25-player raids, where player distribution gives the addon more reliable information. A 10-player AI mode exists, but it should be treated as experimental because fewer players make automatic sector detection less stable.

Language Support
The addon is designed to work on all game clients because the important fight logic uses IDs instead of localized spell or boss names.
Included localization files currently cover:
- English
- German
- French
- Russian
- Chinese
- Spanish
Unsupported locales should fall back to English text.
Recommended Raid Usage
For best results, assign one person to control the helper.
The assigned player marks each Arcing Smash sector. Everyone else keeps the addon open and receives the synced sector state. AI Mode can be enabled as support, but the assigned player should still verify and correct the result when needed.
Beta Notice
This is version v.1.0-B, where B stands for Beta.
The manual helper and broadcast logic are the core features. AI Mode is still experimental and should be treated as an assistive tool, not a fully automatic boss strategy system.
