Gold from unknown players can be gold from real-money trading, and Blizzard can remove it or act on the accounts it reaches. MailSentry helps you avoid accepting it by accident. Badges displayed by the addon are a heuristic screen -- not proof that a sender did anything wrong. This addon errs on the side of caution, instead of blind trust (e.g. an 'Open All', or manually spam-opening mail).
MailSentry collects your mail without touching gold that can't be vouched for. One button collects only the mail it judges safe according to several criteria. Everything else stays unopened, marked with a reason, with a Return button next to it.
MailSentry never sends mail, whispers, chat or addon messages, and never reports anyone.
Using it
- Open mailbox.
- Click Open Safe Mail (top right of the inbox). It takes money and items from 'green' mail only.
- Check what's left. Send a flagged mail back with its Return button, or open it yourself if you know where it came from.
Badges
- Green - Looks safe: gold from a friend, Battle.net friend, guildmate or one of your own characters; Auction House and system mail; mail with no gold. Tune these settings using the available slash commands.
- Amber - Unverified: gold from a sender MailSentry can't identify yet, or items from a stranger.
- Red - Likely risky: a large amount of gold from an unknown sender, or gold from a sender whose character is low level or can't be found online.
Each click of 'Open Safe Mail' also checks one unknown sender with /who to see their level and guild. If you have multiple mails from several potentially unknown-to-you players, clicking this enough times will eventually get through them all. Disable this with /ms who off if unneeded in your situation.
MailSentry never opens a flagged (red) mail.
