Loadstone: the right talents for every key
Loadstone is a Mythic+ loadout planner and reminder for World of Warcraft: Midnight.
Decide once which talent loadout and gear set you want for each dungeon, key level, affix and group comp. From then on, Loadstone tells you at the right moment whether you're set. It shows exactly which talents are different and fixes it with one click, or by itself if you want.
No more timing a +14 with your single-target raid build. No more swapping your build at the Font of Power while four people wait. No more guessing which build actually works for you.
Why use Loadstone?
| Without Loadstone | With Loadstone |
|---|---|
| You remember mid-pull that you're on the wrong build | You're reminded before the key starts, at the moments that matter |
| "Am I on the right one?" means opening the talent tree and comparing by eye | The card lists every talent that's different |
| Swapping means opening the talent UI, finding the loadout, then the equipment manager | One click, or fully automatic |
| You pick builds by feel or by what a guide says | You see your own timed rate and best key for every build in every dungeon |
| Nobody knows who still has to swap until the timer is running | The party readiness board shows who's set before anyone slots the key |
| You forget your plan for a boss until you're on it | Your own notes show up on the reminder card for that dungeon |
Who it's for: keystone pushers who swap builds often, players with alts and several specs, pug players who need to adapt to whatever group they get, and groups that want everyone ready before the key goes in.
Features
1. Rules per key, not just per dungeon
Most loadout addons pick one build per dungeon. Loadstone lets each dungeon have as many rules as you need, each with its own talents and gear:
| Condition | Example |
|---|---|
| Key level range | +2 to +9 uses your comfortable build · +12 and up uses your pushing build · leave either side open |
| This week's affixes | Only applies when any affix you picked is active this week |
| Group composition | Only applies if the rest of your group lacks something you picked (see below) |
| Talent loadout | Any loadout you saved in Blizzard's talent UI |
| Gear set | Any Equipment Manager set, e.g. a trinket set for high keys (optional) |
| Backup import string | Optional safety copy of the build's export string |
How the winner is picked: the most specific matching rule wins. A group-comp condition counts most, then affixes, then each level limit. A dungeon's own rules always win over your All Dungeons fallback, so one default can cover the whole season, and you only add rules where a dungeon needs something different.
Copy to… copies a dungeon's rules to another dungeon, to the fallback, or to every dungeon at once.
Benefit: your whole Mythic+ plan, from comfy weekly keys to the highest pushes, set up once and applied every time.
2. Talents that adapt to your group
Rules can depend on what the rest of your group can't do:
Bloodlust · Battle Res · Magic Dispel · Curse Dispel · Poison Dispel · Disease Dispel · Enrage Soothe · Purge
Loadstone works out each party member's utility from their class and role, and uses the exact spec of anyone also running Loadstone. A rule like "take Soothe if nobody else has it" only applies when it's actually needed.
Benefit: stop guessing in pugs. You bring the utility your group is missing, without checking the roster by hand every time.
3. Exact talent differences
When you're on the wrong build, Loadstone doesn't just say "wrong loadout". It compares your current talents with the recommended loadout node by node and lists:
- 🟢 + talents you'd gain
- 🔴 − talents you'd drop
- 🟡 ~ talents whose rank changes (e.g. rank 1 > 2)
- Hero-tree changes, too
Every line has its spell icon. It also notices when you've changed talents by hand since loading a saved loadout, and labels it "(modified)" instead of pretending you're still on the saved one.
Benefit: you know exactly what will change before you commit, and you catch builds that drifted from what you saved.
4. One-click and automatic swaps
From the reminder card:
- Swap talents loads the recommended loadout instantly
- Equip gear puts on the rule's equipment set
- Open talents jumps straight to the talent UI
Or turn on automation in Settings:
- Auto-swap talents applies the recommended loadout as soon as a reminder fires
- Auto-equip gear sets does the same for gear
Swaps follow Blizzard's rules: out of combat, before the key starts. If a swap can't happen, you get a clear message instead of a silent failure.
Benefit: getting key-ready takes seconds, or nothing at all.
5. Reminders at the moments that matter
The reminder card appears automatically when you:
| Trigger | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Accept a Group Finder invite | Swap before you even zone in |
| Enter a Mythic dungeon | Catch it while the group is still gathering |
| Open the Font of Power | Right before the key goes in |
| Slot a keystone | Uses the exact key level and affixes |
| Get a ready check | Checks you against the slotted or planned key |
Each trigger can be turned on or off. The card shows:
- Dungeon, key level, what triggered it, and which rule applied and why
- A clear status: You're set · Swap recommended · Loadout missing · No rule yet
- Recommended loadout vs. what you're running now
- The talent differences, gear status, your dungeon note, your run history here, and party readiness
- Buttons for what you need right now, and nothing else
It updates live: swap talents or gear, or a party member gets ready, and the card updates right away. Once you're set, it turns green and fades out by itself. It can hide when combat starts, can be moved and resized (70–150%), and can play a sound when it appears.
Benefit: reminders when they're useful and quiet otherwise. The card tells you what to do, not just that something's wrong.
6. Party readiness board
Party members running Loadstone automatically share their keystone and whether they're on their planned loadout.
The Party tab shows each member's:
- Class, name and spec
- Keystone in their bags
- Current loadout
- Status: Ready · Swap needed · Loadout missing · No rule · No addon
Keys in this group lists every known key in the party, highest first. Click Plan to tell Loadstone which key you're running next. Reminders and party status are then checked against that key, before anyone has slotted anything.
Also on the board:
- Ping party to refresh everyone's status
- Ready check, without leaving the window
- A compact ready / not-ready strip on the reminder card
Benefit: the group agrees on the key and gets ready together, and the key isn't slotted while someone still needs to swap.
7. Insights from your own runs
Every completed key is logged with the loadout you used, the level, the time, and whether you timed it. Loadstone turns that into data you can act on.
Per dungeon (Keys tab): every loadout you've used there, ranked, with:
- Runs · timed % · best timed level · average clear time
- Make rule, which turns a strong performer into a rule with one click
Season overview (Insights tab):
- Total runs, overall timed rate, highest timed key, most-played loadout
- A per-dungeon table with runs, timed %, best key and your top loadout. Click a dungeon to edit its rules.
On the reminder card: your history in that dungeon, plus a heads-up when your own results favor a different build than your rule.
History is kept per character and per spec, so alts and off-specs don't get mixed up.
Benefit: stop guessing which build is better. Your own keys tell you.
8. Rules that hold up
- Rename-proof: rules follow loadouts when you rename them
- Rebuild-proof: if a loadout is deleted and re-imported with the same name, the rule finds it again
- Backup import strings: if a loadout really is gone, the card offers Copy import string so you can rebuild it in seconds
- Missing gear sets are flagged instead of failing silently
Benefit: clean up or rebuild your loadouts without losing your plan.
9. Per-dungeon notes
Add a short note to any dungeon, such as "Save Soothe for the 2nd boss adds" or "Take the gate skip". It appears on the reminder card when you're about to run that dungeon.
Benefit: your plan for each dungeon is in front of you at the right time, not in a doc you forgot to open.
🎨 10. A modern interface
A clean, dark Midnight-themed window with four tabs:
- Keys: a season dungeon list (with your key and planned key highlighted), dungeon art banners with the timer and key level, rule cards that show which rule applies to your key right now, a conditions editor with chips, notes, and run history
- Party: the readiness board and group keys
- Insights: season stats and the per-dungeon table
- Settings: toggle switches for every reminder and automation option, card scale, preview, and reset
Open it with /lstone or the addon compartment button by the minimap. Press Esc to close it, like any game window.
Benefit: your whole Mythic+ setup in one place you'll actually want to use.
Smart key detection
Loadstone always works out which key you're about to run, in this order:
- The keystone slotted in the Font of Power (exact level and affixes)
- The key you planned on the Party tab, or the dungeon from a Group Finder invite
- The highest matching key anyone in your party has
- Your own keystone
New season dungeons and weekly affixes come straight from the game, so nothing needs updating when the season changes.
Getting started
- Save your loadouts in Blizzard's talent UI as usual, e.g. "ST Raid", "AoE Pug", "Push Fort".

❓ FAQ
Does it work with Midnight's new addon restrictions? Yes. Everything Loadstone does happens out of combat and before the key starts. Party messages are only sent before the key begins, because Midnight blocks addon messages during an active key.
Do I need to update it every season? No. Dungeons and affixes come straight from the game.
Does my group need Loadstone too? No. Rules, reminders, swaps, notes and insights all work on their own. Party members who also run it add their keys and readiness to your Party board, and their exact specs make group-comp rules more accurate.
Can it change my talents after the key starts? No. Blizzard locks talents once the key starts, which is why Loadstone reminds you before then: on the invite, when you zone in, at the Font of Power, when the key is slotted, and on ready check.
Does it work in raids? Loadstone is built for 5-player Mythic+. Party sharing and group-comp rules only work in 5-player groups.
Are my rules shared between characters? Rules and run history are stored per character and per spec, because loadouts belong to each character.
What does it share with my party? Only your keystone (dungeon and level), your spec, your current loadout name, and whether you're ready for the key in question, and only with your current party. You can turn that off in Settings. Your run history stays on your PC.
Does it need other libraries? No. Loadstone is self-contained.
