What's new

After updating, restart the game fully (not just /reload): there are new files, and the game only picks up new files when it starts.

Letters by post

  • Letters go by post. Seal a letter anywhere and it waits in your Sent letters until you next open a mailbox, where Kinship posts it as game mail, so it reaches people even when they're offline, and your own characters too. Kinship letters wear the Kinship seal in the mailbox, and Kinship keeps them on your Letters page, sealed until you open them. People without Kinship get an ordinary, readable mail. Long letters go in parts and are joined back together.
  • Write in your character's hand (plain, fine or a rough scrawl), on paper that arrives pristine, aged or singed.
  • Ciphers: scramble a letter with a key word you tell them in character. Without it, the letter is nonsense; with it, Decipher reveals the words.
  • Name suggestions: typing a name in a letter's To box, Give an item or Add to Kin offers your own characters, your Kin, the people you've written to and your Directory. It matches either of a character's names, or their roleplay name.
  • Enclose Kinship items in a letter, up to three kinds: they leave your bags when you seal it and go into theirs when they break the seal. Real gold and game items on the Send Mail tab can go with a letter too.

Kinship in the game's own windows

  • Trade: trading with another Kinship player opens a Kinship card beside the trade window. Right-click a Kinship item in your bags to put it in. Both of you see what's offered, and the items move when the trade goes through.
  • Link Kinship items in chat: shift-click one while typing, the same as a real item. Hover the link to see the item, click to pin it. Without Kinship it reads as plain words.
  • A Kinship vault at the bank: thirty slots that open beside the bank. Right-click to put an item in, click to take it out.
  • Friends, the guild roster and /who show roleplay names beside character names, once their profile has arrived.
  • Your Warfront record and latest rivals sit beside the PvP window.
  • A Kinship button in the game menu (Esc).
  • Dice results in chat look like the game's own /roll.

Effects

  • Resting at an inn or in a city: wounds, Exhausted and Soaked pass twice as fast. Switch it off with Rest speeds healing in Settings > Effects.
  • Effects that come on their own, from what happens in the game: Drunk when the game says you're tipsy, Soaked after a long swim, Bandaged when a real bandage goes on a wound (halving it), Hungry after hours without food, Exhausted after hours without rest, and Well rested after half an hour's rest. Only light ones, each toast has Not now to take it off, and each has its own switch in Settings > Effects that come on their own.

Nameplates

  • The character's name now sits under the roleplay name as "(Name)" in a softer grey, and your Kin and rivals get a small mark after their name. Rivals are marked on enemy players' plates too, in combat as well. Both can be switched off in Settings > Nameplates.
  • Nameplates no longer need a roleplay name: players who go by their character's name get it in roleplay gold, with any title like "Lord", and their status dot, title and marks.
  • /kin plates previews nameplates with your settings, no one else needed, with a key for the status dots and the Kin and rival marks.

Fixed

  • The satchel closes with your bags (B) again after you close and reopen it while the bags are open.
  • The status dot on the target bar no longer hides under the portrait.
  • The Kinship button in the game menu matches EllesmereUI's skinned menu.
