What's new
KinFolk 0.18.8 (Beta)
Everything since 0.18.1.
Class Guide
- Builds is now Class Guide: the same page with a plainer name, since it covers more than builds: talents, stats, rotations, professions, consumables, and common questions for every class and spec. Your saved spec and settings carry over.
Members
- Player menu on a member's name: right-click a name in the member list, or the name at the top of a member's record, for the same kind of menu the game gives you on a player. Left-click still opens their record.
| Choice | What it does |
|---|---|
| Add Friend | Add BattleTag Friend, or Add WoW Friend |
| Invite | Invites them to your group (Suggest Invite when you are in a group you do not lead) |
| Whisper | Opens a whisper to them |
| Ignore | Adds them to your ignore list |
| Report Player | Opens the game's report window for them |
| Copy Character Name | Shows their name, ready to copy |
- The menu is the same as the game's own guild roster menu. Invite and Whisper are greyed out while they are offline.
- Spec from talents: a member's spec now comes from their talents, the tree with the most points, instead of being picked by hand. Members with KinFolk share their own spec each time they open KinFolk, at login, and when their talents change. For members without it, KinFolk reads their talents when you target them nearby or inspect them. The record shows the spec and the points, for example Assassination (21/5/0).
- Professions filled in for you: a member's professions now come from what their KinFolk shares, gathering professions included, with their skill. A dropped profession disappears, and its recipes leave the Crafting page. Members without KinFolk show "Not shared yet".
- Guild note: the spec and professions in the note come from the above. A spec with one role (Holy heals) sets the role too.
Settings
-
Shift+J opens the game's guild window: when you have J opening KinFolk, Shift+J now opens the game's guild window, for ranks and the message of the day. Nothing to set up, and your key bindings are not changed.
-
Doors you see: every player, members included, can hide doors they do not use on their own screen: Chat, Members, Raids, Events, Crafting, Class Guide, Board, or Bank. Untick it in Settings (Display for officers). Nothing is erased, and ticking it again brings it back. The Guild home page always stays.
Not in a guild yet
- A Home page instead of setup: a character with no guild now opens KinFolk on a Home page. It explains that KinFolk is made for guilds and their communities, gives tips for finding a guild, and has Start a guild for anyone who wants to found their own. Nobody is sent into setup just by installing KinFolk.
- Founding has its own door: after Start a guild, the charter tracker, founding recruits, posts, and interviews sit behind a Founding door at the top, instead of inside Recruiting. Setup for a new guild can be cancelled, back to the Home page. When the guild is created, everything moves into the guild as before.
- Stop founding: a button at the top right of the Founding page takes you back to the Home page. Your charter tracker, recruits, and checklist are kept, and Start a guild picks them up again.
Crafting
- Primary and secondary side by side: the Crafting page lists primary professions on the left and secondary professions (Cooking, First Aid, and Fishing) on the right.
- Professions start closed: the Crafting page lists each profession with a small triangle and how many crafters it has. Click a profession to show its crafters, and click it again to hide them. Each one opens on its own, so the page stays short. The gold lines after each profession are gone: an open profession gets a thin grey line under its crafters, to separate it from the next one.
- Requests you can do something about: the Requests page now shows only your own requests, ones sent to you, ones you took, and ones for recipes you can make. Requests for recipes you cannot make stay off your page. The number on the Requests tab counts the open ones you could take.
- Clearer mats line: on someone else's request, the line about mats now reads "To make it, you still need: ...", so it is plain that it means you, as the crafter. On your own request it still shows what you are missing.
- Guild needs: when the guild bank runs low on something, a banker or officer can click Ask crafters. The request is labeled Guild needs and pinned at the top of every crafter's Requests page, and the bank supplies the mats: whoever takes it clicks Ask the bank for them. (This needs guild bank item tabs, which WoW Forever has not turned on yet.)
Events
- Sign-ups in a table: an event's sign-ups now show one person per row, with their answer, name, class, and role, grouped Confirmed, Signed up, Tentative, then Declined.
Bank
- Bank contents in a table: the contents and the low-stock list are now tables, with each item's icon. Hover an item's name for the game's tooltip. (Still waiting for guild bank item tabs in WoW Forever.)
- Ask from Bank contents: members can now open Bank contents too: every item the bank holds, searchable and scrolling, as of the last time a banker or officer opened the bank. Click Ask on an item's row, choose how many (up to what the bank has), add a reason, and send. Only items the bank really holds can be asked for. The low-stock tools stay with officers.
- Requests page: it lists the requests, with your own pinned at the top. (Both wait for guild bank item tabs in WoW Forever.)
- Page order: Bank contents, Requests, then Bank ledger.
Fixes
- Minimap button with UI suites (bug fix): UI suites like EllesmereUI could hide or misplace KinFolk's minimap button. It is now made the same way as most addons' buttons (LibDBIcon), so those suites and button collectors gather it with the others. It stays where you had it and looks the same.
- Checkboxes (bug fix): in setup, clicking the Trade box under "Post recruiting messages in" unticked General instead. A box's label could be clicked well past its words, over the next box in the row. Fixed for every checkbox in KinFolk.
