ItemSentinal is a lightweight World of Warcraft addon designed to protect selected items from being accidentally sold to vendors.

Mark an item once and ItemSentinal remembers its Item ID. Every copy of that item is then protected automatically. Protected items are clearly marked in your bags, identified in their tooltips, and guarded whenever you interact with a merchant.

Important gear, valuable materials, consumables, collectibles or simply that one item you absolutely don't want to vendor by mistake — ItemSentinal keeps watch over it.

Protecting an item takes only one click.

• Protect items directly from your bags.
• Protection is stored by Item ID.
• Every copy of a protected Item ID is protected automatically.
• Protection persists between sessions.
• Toggle protection on or off at any time.
• Default shortcut: CTRL + Left Click.
• Modifier key and mouse button can both be customized.

🛒 Vendor Protection — No more accidental sales

ItemSentinal watches your protected items whenever you visit a merchant.

• Prevents protected items from being sold through normal bag interactions.
• Protects against accidental right-click sales.
• Protects against drag & drop sales to merchants.
• Includes an additional buyback safety mechanism as a fallback for unusual vendor interactions or third-party bag addons.

The idea is simple:

If you marked it as protected, it shouldn't disappear at a vendor.

• Protection information inside item tooltips.

🎒 Designed With Bag Addons in Mind

ItemSentinal separates its protection system from the visual bag interface.

This allows the core protection system to remain independent of Blizzard's default bag layout and improves compatibility with third-party bag addons.

ItemSentinal also detects visible item buttons to provide its visual protection indicators on compatible custom bag interfaces.

An additional vendor safety fallback helps protect items if another bag addon uses an interaction path that bypasses the normal protection handler.

🖱️ Your Shortcut, Your Choice

Don't like CTRL + Left Click?

Change it.

Choose your modifier:

• CTRL
• ALT
• SHIFT
• No modifier

Then choose:

• Left Click
• Right Click

The default configuration is:

CTRL + Left Click

Use the same shortcut again to remove protection.

⚙️ Simple Configuration

ItemSentinal includes its own configuration window with a dark World of Warcraft-inspired design and subtle yellow/gold highlights.

Settings are kept intentionally straightforward so you can configure the addon once and get back to playing.

🧭 Minimap Access

A compact minimap launcher gives you quick access to ItemSentinal.

• Left Click — Open ItemSentinal.
• Right Click — Quick options.
• Minimap button can be hidden when not needed.
• Uses the familiar LibDataBroker / LibDBIcon style for compatibility with common addon launchers and minimap-button collectors.

🛡️ What Does ItemSentinal Protect?

The current release focuses specifically on one thing:

Accidental vendor sales.

Protected items can still be:

• moved between bags,
• stored in your bank,
• removed from your bank,
• traded with other players,
• mailed,
• placed on the Auction House,
• and otherwise used normally.

ItemSentinal does not currently lock an item completely.

Additional protection types may be introduced in future releases.

💡 Getting Started

1. Install ItemSentinal and log into your character.
2. Open your bags.
3. Hold CTRL and Left Click an item.
4. ItemSentinal marks its Item ID as protected.
5. A lock indicator shows that the item is being watched.
6. Visit a merchant and ItemSentinal will prevent the protected item from being accidentally sold.
7. CTRL + Left Click the item again whenever you want to remove its protection.

That's all you need.

🚧 Development

ItemSentinal is actively being developed.

The first releases focus on creating a reliable foundation for vendor protection before expanding into additional protection options and quality-of-life features.
