Description
Hunter's Handbook RP
The FUN Version!
Hunter’s Handbook RP is basically the same Hunter’s Handbook, but instead of starting at max level with all the information already filled in, you start at level 1.
Your Handbook is mostly empty and you actually have to go out into the world and fill it yourself.
Tame a beast and you learn about it. Use Beast Lore and you learn more. Find the same beast at a different level or in a different place and your notes get better. Find something with a new attack speed, ability, food type, or pet skill and that gets added too.
The point is not to make playing a Hunter harder just to make it harder. The point is to make it more fun.
With a normal database addon, you already know where everything is. You look it up, go to the coordinates, tame the pet, and you are done.
With HHRP, you actually start looking at the animals around you.
That wolf you normally run past might be something you have never recorded. That weird beast in another zone might have an ability you have never seen. A rare spawn is actually worth stopping to look at. Going into a new area means there are new animals to find and add to your Handbook.
It changes the way you play a Hunter because the information itself becomes part of the game.
You are not just reading somebody else’s completed pet database. You are building your own.
As you play, HHRP can record things like beast family, level, attack speed, abilities, pet skill ranks, food types, zones, locations, rare and special beasts, and multiple sightings of the same animal. If you find the same beast again, it adds to what you already know instead of just making another duplicate entry.
The interface is intentionally very close to the normal Hunter’s Handbook. You still have Families, Bestiary, Rare and Special beasts, skills, search, sorting, locations, and Field Notes.
The main difference is simple:
Hunter’s Handbook already knows the answers.
Hunter’s Handbook RP makes you go find them.
There is also an export system being built into HHRP so discoveries made by players can eventually help improve the main Hunter’s Handbook database. That part is still being worked on and we are not collecting community data yet.
This is currently a Beta. Taming and the basic discovery system are working and tested. Beast Lore discovery and some of the community-data features are still being tested.
Hunter’s Handbook and Hunter’s Handbook RP are meant to be two versions of the same idea:
HH = the completed Handbook.
HHRP = the Handbook you build yourself.
You can have both installed, but only one should be enabled at a time.

Contribution site:

Your contribution can include beasts you have discovered, tame information, Beast Lore results, locations, attack speeds, abilities, and other information gathered while you play.
Every submission helps us correct bad data, fill in missing information, and build a better picture of the beasts roaming Azeroth.
You do not need to go out of your way or turn the game into work. Just play your Hunter, explore, tame things, use Beast Lore when you feel like it, and send in what you find.
Thanks to every Hunter who helps build the Handbook. Happy hunting.
