What's new

HUD Center 8.14.3

Includes everything from 8.13.0 to 8.14.3.

8.14.3: Forever Oct 26 racial tip refresh

WoW Forever Oct 26 racial pass

  • Race tab text matches the new passives: Ruthless 1%, Human Spirit 10%, Artisan's Precision (Dwarf), Command (Orc pets), Plainsrunning 2%/60% on foot only, Endurance health only, Wind Blessed 2%, Skysight 15% (+ Charged), Read Ley Line +50% for 15s (+ Attuned).
  • Read Ley Line reminder tip and hover help updated. Skips while Innervate or Energized is on you.

Not tested in the game yet.

8.14.2

No new files, so a /reload is enough after updating.

Gear tips fixed (the "upgrade for your class" line on item tooltips)

  • Wrong upgrades fixed. A warlock was told an Agility dagger was an upgrade (+63) over a staff with Intellect, Spirit and Stamina. Two bugs caused it: hit chance was counted far too high for every class, even casters who get nothing from melee hit, and the empty off hand counted as a free slot even for classes that can't dual wield.
  • Each class counts only what helps it. Agility, Strength and melee hit are worth nothing to mages, warlocks and priests. Spell damage, spell hit and Intellect are worth nothing to warriors and rogues. Stamina counts for everyone (it's a PvP addon).
  • More stats count: spell hit and spell crit (separate from melee hit and crit), healing, mana per 5, health per 5, armor, resistances, defense, dodge, parry, block, spell penetration, ranged attack power, health and mana.
  • Weapon damage counts for warriors, rogues, paladins, shamans (main hand) and hunters (ranged weapon). Casters count wand damage a little, not melee weapon damage.
  • Weapons are compared fairly. A one-hander is compared with your main hand. It's only compared with your off hand if you can dual wield (rogues, and warriors and hunters from level 20). A two-hander is compared with your main hand and off hand together. Shields, off-hand items and held items aren't rated while you hold a two-hander.
  • Items you can't use say so instead of "upgrade": armor your class can't wear yet (mail for hunters and shamans and plate for warriors and paladins open at level 40), weapon types your class can't use, items for other classes, and items above your level.
  • Small differences say "about the same". The +number is roughly how many points of your main stat the change is worth (Strength, Agility, spell damage or healing). When you have something in that slot, it also says about how much better in %.
  • The stat values are rough Classic-era guesses for PvP, not exact sims.

Other

  • The Showcase message no longer points to the beta's Screenshots folder. It says screenshots are in the Screenshots folder of the game folder you play from.

Not tested in the game yet. In particular, how the game reports hit and crit on items in WoW Forever is handled both ways (as a % or as a rating) until we can check it.

8.14.1

Turn on the DoT kill tracker from setup

  • The setup wizard has a new line: Turn on DoT kill tracker? Tick it and the tracker is on. Leave it unticked (or click Not now) and it stays off.
  • Already set up? After updating, HUD Center asks once with a Yes/No popup. Yes turns it on, No leaves it off. Either way it won't ask again.
  • Paladins aren't asked (no supported DoTs). Nobody is asked while the Does It Die addon is loaded.
  • You can still turn it on or off any time: Combat tab > DoT kill marker.

DoT kill tracker on nameplates

  • Every enemy nameplate with your DoTs gets a light marker for the damage they still have to do, and a small skull beside the bar when that's enough to kill it. Great for multi-DoTing: you can see which mobs are already dead and move on.
  • Combat tab > DoT kill marker > Also on enemy nameplates that have my DoTs (on by default, works when the DoT kill marker is on).
  • Its own look: skull left, above or right of the bar, size (Icon - / Icon +), position (Icon left/right/up/down, 2 pixels a click) and marker color (white, gold, black, red). Defaults match Does It Die (left, 18 px, 0/15 offset, white at 40%).
  • Needs enemy nameplates on (V). Built for Blizzard's nameplates; other nameplate addons (Plater, Platynator...) may hide it.

DoT damage number

  • Optional "DoTs: 1234" on your target's health bar: the damage your DoTs still have to do. Off by default (like Does It Die).
  • Position (center of the bar, inside its right end, or left of the bar), size (8 to 20) and color (white, yellow, red, green) on the Combat tab.
  • The Showcase and the DoT kill Preview show both (example marker and skull on every visible enemy plate, and "DoTs: 40").
  • /hud dots also lists your nameplate and number settings.

Credit: the nameplate marker and kill icon (a clipped window with the skull riding a long bar's fill, so it only appears when the damage beats the mob's hidden health) are adapted from Does It Die v0.5.0+ by Joe Greive, MIT License (notice kept at the top of HUDCenter_Plus.lua).

8.14.0

No new files this time, so a /reload is enough after updating.

New: DoT kill marker (off at first: Combat tab > DoT kill marker)

  • A red marker on your target's health bar covers the damage your own DoTs still have to do. If the health ends inside the red part, your DoTs will finish the target. Move on to the next one.
  • A skull on the target's portrait shows when your DoTs are enough to kill it.
  • Works for the DoTs you cast: Corruption, Immolate, Curse of Agony, Siphon Life, Shadow Word: Pain, Devouring Plague, Holy Fire, Moonfire, Insect Swarm, Rake, Rip, Flame Shock, Serpent Sting, Rend, Garrote, Rupture and the burn from Fireball and Pyroblast.
  • Rip and Rupture count the combo points you spent. If the game hides them, HUD Center counts your builders itself. If it can't tell, it uses the 1-point number, so the skull never shows too early.
  • It learns your real tick sizes from the damage your target takes, so it gets closer the more you play. Each character keeps its own. /hud dots reset forgets them.
  • A miss, dodge, parry, resist or immune right after the cast takes that DoT off. A DoT that never ticks is dropped too.
  • Preview button on the Combat tab (or /hud dots preview) shows the marker and skull for 10 seconds. /hud dots lists your DoTs on your target and the damage left. The showcase (/hud showcase) shows it too.

It's an estimate. Please read this:

  • Healing on the target isn't counted. Against players, and anything a healer is keeping up, treat the skull as a guess.
  • Only your own DoTs that you cast count. Ignite, Deep Wounds, poisons, party members' DoTs and traps aren't counted.
  • It reads English spell tooltips.
  • It draws on Blizzard's target frame. Another unit frame addon that hides it means no marker.
  • If you use the Does It Die addon, HUD Center's marker stays off while it's loaded, so you never get two. The Addons tab says so.

New: HUD AoE Kick macro

  • One press interrupts your focus if you have a living enemy focus.
  • No focus? It saves your target, interrupts the nearest enemy, then goes back to your target.
  • Your class's interrupt: Pummel or Shield Bash (warrior), Kick (rogue), Counterspell (mage), Silence (priest, talent), Earth Shock (shaman), Spell Lock (warlock, Felhunter), Feral Charge (druid, Bear Form). Paladins and hunters have no interrupt, so they don't get it.
  • Things to know:
    • The nearest enemy isn't always the one casting. Look first.
    • It clears your focus when it's done.
    • Warriors: Pummel in Berserker Stance, Shield Bash in Battle or Defensive Stance (needs a shield). It doesn't change stance for you, and right after a stance swap it may take a second press.
  • It's made in the General tab of /macro, so it doesn't use one of your 18 character macro slots, and it rewrites itself for whichever character logs in.
  • The setup wizard and Prep > Set up my macros put it in an empty button on Bars 2-5. Characters you already set up get the Yes/No offer when you log in. It has no key; give it one in Key Bindings or drag it where you like.
  • /hud aoekick explains it in chat. Hover it on your bar for the same notes.

Credit: the DoT kill marker's mechanics (reading tooltips, learning ticks, handling misses and combo points, and the way the skull compares damage with hidden health) are adapted from Does It Die by Joe Greive (JoeGG), MIT License. The license notice is at the top of HUDCenter_Plus.lua.

8.13.3: Right-click on your own frame opens its menu again

Click heals fix

  • Plain right-click on your own frame (your player frame, or your own box in raid-style party frames) opens the frame's menu again. It used to cast your right-click heal (for example Regrowth) instead.
  • To heal yourself with a click, use Shift-right-click, Ctrl-right-click, middle-click, the side buttons or a modified left-click. Those still work on your own frame.
  • Right-click still heals on party and raid frames, same as before.
  • Alt-right-click still opens anyone's menu, and plain left-click still targets.
  • Turning click heals off puts every click back to how the game had it.
  • The help text on the Combat tab (Click heals) explains this.

Not tested in the game yet.

8.13.2: Add node button for your bars

New: HUD Add Node macro

  • Every class gets a HUD Add Node macro (flower icon). Press it on your bar and the Add node here window opens: pick Herb, Ore or Chest, click the name, then Save. Cancel or the X closes it, same as before.
  • No more typing /hud addnode. It doesn't drop a pin on its own; you still pick and save in the window.
  • It has no key. Drag it anywhere or give it one in Key Bindings like any other button.
  • It's made in the General tab of /macro, so it doesn't use one of your 18 character macro slots. Warlocks and rogues had none left.
  • Hover it on your bar for a short explanation.

How it gets on your bars

  • The setup wizard and Prep > Set up my macros put it in an empty button on Bars 2-5.
  • Characters you already set up get the Yes/No offer from 8.13.1 when you log in. It lists HUD Add Node. Yes puts it in an empty button, No leaves everything as is.
  • HUD Center never puts it on top of one of your buttons. If there's no empty button, it says so in chat.

The Add node here and Quick add node keys in Key Bindings work as before.

Not tested in the game yet.

8.13.1: Macros go on your bars by themselves

Setup puts your macros on your bars

  • The setup wizard now creates your class macros, puts them in empty buttons on Bars 2-5 and sets their keys when you press Set it up. There's no second "Set them up" popup to click anymore. Ticking the macros step is your yes.
  • Prep > Set up my macros works as before and still asks Yes/No first.

New macros after an update

  • When an update adds a macro for your class (like HUD Bear Charge for druids), HUD Center checks when you log in. If this character doesn't have it, or it isn't on your bars, a Yes/No box lists each one with its key (for example "Shift-F: HUD Bear Charge").
  • Yes creates it, puts it in an empty button on Bars 2-5 and sets its key. Your other buttons stay where they are.
  • No changes nothing, and HUD Center won't ask again on this character until an update adds another new macro.
  • If you're in a fight, it waits until the fight ends.
  • It only asks on characters that already have HUD macros. New characters get the setup wizard instead.
  • Turn it off on the Prep tab, under Macros: After an update, offer to add new HUD macros to my bars (on by default).

Your buttons are safe

  • HUD Center only uses empty buttons. It never puts a macro on top of something you placed.
  • If there's no empty button, it says so in chat and names the macro. Its key still works, and you can drag it from /macro to a bar.
  • If your 18 character macro slots are full, it tells you which macro it couldn't make.

Not tested in the game yet.

8.13.0: Sell from your bags

New: sell from your bags at the auction house

  • Open the auction house and a HUD Center: sell from your bags list opens beside it. It shows everything in your bags that can go on the auction house. Soulbound items, quest items, conjured items and gray junk are left out.
  • HUD Center checks the cheapest listing for each item, one at a time, and waits whenever the auction house is busy. It then suggests a price just under the cheapest (1% less).
  • The price never goes below what a vendor would pay after the deposit and the auction house's 5% cut. If the auction house is cheaper than that, you'll see "vendor floor" and the price stops there.
  • If nobody is selling an item, the price stays empty and you type one.
  • If the cheapest listing is your own, HUD Center matches it instead of undercutting you.

You choose what gets posted

  • Nothing is ticked for you. Tick each item you want to sell. You can change the price (gold, silver, copper for one item), how many to sell, and how long it runs (click to switch between 2, 8 and 24 hours; 24 hours is the default).
  • Press Post next once for each item. It posts the top ticked item and shows "Posted: name (n left)", and that item leaves the list.
  • You can bind a key too: Key Bindings > AddOns > HUD Center > Post next approved auction.
  • The game needs a click or key press for every post, so HUD Center never posts on its own or several at once.
  • It won't post if the price is below the vendor floor, if an item has no price, or if the item is no longer in your bags. It tells you why.
  • Click HUD Center: sell from bags at the top of the auction house to show or hide the list, and Check prices to look again.
  • Turn it off on the Professions tab (Gold section). It changes no game settings.

Not tested in the game yet. Please check the first few posts on your Auctions tab.
