HUD Center

PvP coach and HUD for WoW Forever: live next-move icon for every class, crowd-control coach, and a one-click setup wizard.

A PvP coach and HUD for WoW Forever, for every class. It shows the next ability to press, coaches your stuns and crowd control against players, and sets up your bars, macros and keys for you.

What's new in 8.11.2

  • Node map fix: herb, ore and treasure pins now show inside the zone on the world map. Before, they were hidden under the map picture and only showed at the edges of other zones.
  • Pins draw as soon as you open the map or switch zones, keep their size when you zoom, and sit on top of the minimap too.
  • 8.11.1 added a Read Ley Line reminder for High Order Skyborne (Combat tab, racial reminders).

What it does

  • Next-move icon with the key to press and the reason. It understands energy, combo points, kill range, interrupts, your range to the target and your form or stance, switches to heals and defensives when your health is low, only suggests what you can afford right now, and keeps your DoTs, bleeds and buffs (Rend, Battle Shout, Corruption…) going even when the game hides buff names in combat. If one gets dodged or resisted, it asks for it again. It knows how each class should open a pull: casters start with a cast-time spell (Wrath, Smite, Lightning Bolt, Immolate) and save the instant for when the mob runs in; warriors Charge, or Throw/Shoot when they can't; paladins open with Seal of the Crusader; rogues and cat druids get the right stealth opener for their weapon and level. Out of combat, click it to cast (buffs, poisons, Stealth before a pull).
  • Control coach: lines up your next stun, Polymorph, Fear or root to land as the last one ends (and skips ones diminishing returns would cut short), warns you not to break your own crowd control, and reacts when the enemy uses their trinket.
  • PvP awareness: enemy cooldowns, diminishing returns, trinket tracking, focus alerts, enemy stealth alerts, and a green + over enemy healers.
  • Target timers for your bleeds, DoTs and crowd control.
  • Matchup cards: target an enemy player to see what to watch for and how your class beats theirs.
  • Opening plan: when an arena or battleground starts, a card shows the enemy team, who to crowd-control, who to kill and what to save your trinket for. When an enemy healer shows up, HUD Center tells you to set them as your focus.
  • Teammate alerts for healers and support: a teammate low on health, feared, rooted or carrying a debuff you can remove pops up with the spell and key to use.
  • Click heals: click a party or raid member's frame to heal, shield or cleanse them, with a ready setup for your class (left-click still targets). Change any click on the Combat tab.
  • Battleground helper: in Warsong Gulch, a banner names whoever picks up a flag, and a small box shows who holds each flag and their health. In Arathi Basin, every base being taken gets a 1:00 countdown. Healers get a nudge when your flag carrier is low.
  • Fight recap: after you die, a few lines in chat on why: the enemy casts HUD Center saw, how long you were stunned or feared, how fast your health dropped, and which defensives were still ready. The game hides the combat log, so it only sees casts from your target, focus and enemy nameplates.
  • Gear swap prompts: save a PvP set and a PvE set, trinkets included. HUD Center asks (Yes/No) to swap when you enter or leave a battleground, arena, dungeon or raid, and never swaps in combat. Off until you tick it.
  • Who needs a heal: healers see a green tint on the party or raid frame of the teammate who needs a heal most (when the game lets addons read health).
  • Group plan codes: write an opening plan and focus target, send the code to your team, and it shows for everyone when the match starts.
  • Duel coach: your matchup card when a duel starts, a duel record by class, and duels marked in your fight review.
  • Fight report card: a grade for every PvP fight, your trend over time, and your win/loss record against each class.
  • Team sync: teammates with HUD Center share their crowd control and focus, so nobody breaks a Sap or Polymorph.
  • Engineering in PvP: the next-move icon uses your gadgets against players at the right moment (Cloaking Device or Rocket Boots when you're low, Rocket Helmet on a caster, Net-o-Matic on a runner, Sapper Charge in a kill window, a dragonling in a long fight), the control coach throws your best grenade when your crowd control ends or they trinket, and a gadget row shows what's ready. The HUD Boom macro throws your best grenade and doesn't use a character macro slot.
  • Every profession helps in fights: bandage while your Blind, Sap, Polymorph or Fear is on them (First Aid); Limited Invulnerability, healing, Free Action, Restorative, Swiftness and mana potions at the right moment (Alchemy); and an enchant check that lists what each slot is missing (Enchanting). Out of fights: a tracking reminder for Find Herbs and Find Minerals, a skill-up helper in your profession window, and herb, leather and ore prices.
  • Racial reminders: your race's ability pops up when it helps (Walk on Air when you fall, Will to Survive when stunned, Escape Artist when rooted, Stoneform at low health, your damage racial in a kill window), with its key. Click it out of combat.
  • Talent builds for every class, leveling and PvP, and a talent planner that names your next point.
  • Macros for every class, with focus and mouseover versions, proper icons and hover help. They're placed most-used first and keybound for you.
  • Bar layouts: set your bars up yourself, save them, apply them on any of your characters, or share your whole setup with a friend as a code.
  • Practice: dummy drills with best times, an interrupt reaction drill, fight reviews with a timeline of your button presses, and a weekly progress card (fights, grades, most improved matchup).
  • Everyday helpers: a ready-for-PvP checklist when you queue (buffs, potions, Free Action Potion, bandages, poisons, elixir and food, weapon stone, enchants, PvP trinket, repairs), gear tips on item tooltips (upgrade or not, weapon speed), PvP ready check, town checklist, leveling planner with your class's trainer skills, a guide to all 12 professions, gold tracker, smelt-or-sell prices for ore, a money board with cloth (make bolts or sell), fish (cook or sell raw), cooking goods, herbs and leather.
  • Every option is a checkbox or a button, with help when you hover it. No typing needed.
  • Works in other game languages, not just English.
  • Update notices: you hear in chat when someone in your group, battleground or guild has a newer HUD Center.

Getting started

  1. Install HUD Center and restart WoW fully the first time. Later updates usually only need /reload.
  2. The setup wizard opens a few seconds after you log in on each new character. Tick what you want: line up your bars, create your class macros, set your class keys (V for Stealth, Q for Charge…), copy your main bar to your stealth or stance bar, and pick a look. Every step is optional.
  3. Open HUD Center any time from the minimap button or with /hud.

Recommended: Bartender4 for your action bars. Without it, HUD Center uses Blizzard's bars through Edit Mode.

Changed your mind? Settings > Undo last change (or /hud undo) puts your buttons, keys and bars back to how they were before HUD Center's last change.

Macros

Prep > Set up my macros creates your class macros, places them on your bars and sets their keys. Macros that use a spell you haven't learned yet use what you have, and update themselves when you learn it.

Rogue

Macro Key What it does
Opener Q Stealth out of combat, Cheap Shot in stealth, Sinister Strike in combat
Stab Shift-1 Ambush in stealth, Backstab otherwise
Kick Foc Shift-E Kicks your focus without changing target
Gouge Foc Shift-R Gouges your focus
Blind Foc Shift-F Blinds your focus, else your mouseover, else your target
Sap Shift-T Saps your mouseover or target
Vanish C Stops auto-attack first so Vanish isn't broken
Trinket Shift-Z Uses both trinket slots
Focus Shift-Q Sets focus to your mouseover or target
Pick Pocket, Distract none Mouseover Pick Pocket, Distract where your mouse points

Other classes get focus and mouseover versions of their key spells: Polymorph and Counterspell (mage), Fear and Death Coil (warlock), Scatter Shot and Freezing Trap (hunter), Hammer of Justice and Blessing of Protection (paladin), Power Word: Shield, Psychic Scream and Silence (priest), Purge and Grounding Totem (shaman), Entangling Roots and Innervate (druid), and stance-switching Overpower, Pummel and Disarm (warrior). Plus mouseover macros so you can act on someone without changing target: Hunter's Mark, Wyvern Sting and Viper Sting (hunter), Faerie Fire and Regrowth (druid), Flash Heal (priest), Flash of Light and Lay on Hands (paladin), Frost Shock and Cure Poison (shaman), Curse of Tongues (warlock), Remove Lesser Curse (mage) and Hamstring (warrior).

Every class also gets consumable macros that always use the best item in your bags:

  • HUD Bandage: on you, or a friend your mouse is over.
  • HUD Heal Pot: Healthstone first, next press your best healing potion.
  • HUD Mana Pot: mana gem, then your best mana potion (mana classes).
  • HUD Free Action: Free Action Potion.
  • Free Action tip: target a player who stuns or roots (Rogue, Warrior, Hunter, Paladin, Mage, Druid, Shaman) out of combat and the next-move icon tells you to drink a Free Action Potion. Click it to drink. Matchup cards remind you too.
  • HUD Food: your best food, plus water for mana classes.
  • HUD Ready: your ready check in one click, and the group's ready check too if you lead the group.
  • HUD Tab Player: targets the nearest enemy player, skipping pets, totems and mobs. Bind it to Tab for battlegrounds.

HUD Burst: one press pops your damage cooldowns, damage racial and on-use trinkets, never your PvP trinket. Account-wide, so it doesn't use a character macro slot, and it updates itself for each character. In a kill window HUD Center tells you to press it.

HUD Panic (Shift-V): one press for every survival move you have: Healthstone and healing potion together, plus your class's big defensive (Evasion, Shield Wall, Ice Block, Divine Shield, Deterrence, Barkskin and more).

One-key class macros: Prowl Opener (druid: Cat Form, Prowl, Pounce, Claw on one key), Bear Charge (druid: Bear Form, then Feral Charge your focus or target), Seduce Foc (warlock: Succubus Seduction on your focus), Totems (shaman: earth, fire and water totem, one per press), Judge (paladin: Judgement and your seal back up) and Renew Mo (priest).

HUD Boom (engineers): Professions > Make HUD Boom macro creates an account-wide macro that throws your best grenade or bomb, and keeps itself up to date as your bags change.

Class extras: Rage Pot (warrior), Conjure (mage), Stones and Soulstone (warlock), Pet Care (hunter: revive, call or heal your pet) and Imbue (shaman).

Pet macros that don't pull extras (hunter, warlock): Pet Attack sets your pet to Defensive as it sends it in, Pet Back calls it home on Passive, and HUD Feign (hunter) calls the pet back and Feign Deaths. If your pet is left on Aggressive, HUD Center warns you once.

Keybinds: Prep > Apply these keybinds puts each class ability on your bars under its key (number keys on your main bar and stance bars, letter keys on your macro row, Stealth, stances and forms on your stance bar), and offers to add new spells as you learn them. It always asks before changing your bars or keys, and swaps buttons instead of making duplicates.

Crowd control goes to your focus, then mouseover, then target. Interrupts go to your focus, then target, so a stray mouse can't send your Kick at the wrong enemy. To customise a HUD macro, copy it under a name that doesn't start with "HUD".

Bars and layouts

  • Line up my bars (Layout tab): three even rows in the middle (main, macros, utility) and two bars on the right edge. Blizzard's bar art is hidden and the menu and bags move to the corner.
  • Arrange macros: most-used first on your macro row, keyless ones on the utility row, duplicates removed.
  • Stealth and stance bars: copies your main bar to your stealth, stance or form bar so your keys keep working.
  • Bar layouts for all your characters: set your bars up by hand, click Save my bars as a layout, then Apply it on another character. It copies your buttons, keybinds and Bartender bar positions. The same class gets an exact copy; another class gets the keys, bar positions and every button it can use.

FAQ

Q casts Sinister Strike in stealth instead of Cheap Shot. You haven't learned Cheap Shot yet. The macro switches by itself when you do.

The next-move icon isn't showing. It only shows with a living enemy targeted. Try /hud preview.

What's the row of icons in stealth? It shows which emergency tools (Gouge, Blind, Evasion, Vanish, trinkets) are off cooldown before you open. It's a check, not a rotation; the big icon is your next move. It hides itself if you already use OmniCC GODMODE, OmniBar or TellMeWhen.

My keys stop working when I stealth or change form. Your bar flips to an empty stealth or stance page. Run /hud stealthbar.

HUD Center moved my bars and I don't like it. Settings > Undo last change, or /hud undo.

Does it play for me? No. It only suggests; every action is your own button press, as WoW's addon rules require.

The battleground helper or fight recap missed something. Both came in 8.10 and are still being tested in the game. The battleground helper reads the English battleground messages, and the fight recap can't see the combat log. Send a bug report with what happened.

A crowd-control timer looks wrong. Lengths are approximate Classic values. Send a bug report with the spell and how long it actually lasted.

Node map pins don't show inside a zone. Update to 8.11.2 or later. If they still don't show, send a screenshot of the open world map.

Found a bug?

Type /hud bug (or Settings > Report a bug), describe what happened, and post the report it makes in the comments. It includes your version, class, addons and any errors.
