HouseWhispers-1.0.zip
What's new
House Whispers 1.0
Continues the accepted 0.9.1-based branch, including all 0.9.2-0.9.5 changes.
CLEANER THOUGHT CLOUDS
- Removed the Shift-drag help text and Show all label from thought bubbles.
- Left-click the cloud or its text area to reveal the remaining dialogue and thoughts immediately. The small X still dismisses both displays.
- Shift-drag remains required to reposition the cloud. Dragging does not accidentally skip the text reveal, including when Shift is released before the mouse button.
- Removed the unused footer space. Compact sizing, fixed placement, bold comic lettering, 50% cloud opacity and fully opaque text are retained.
CENTERED NAME / TITLE
- Added Name / title (optional) to decoration/location setup and Saved texts.
- Quoted dialogue can display a small name/title sliver centered along the top edge of the dialogue box, with centered text inside it.
- Blank or whitespace-only names/titles hide the entire sliver. Messages without visible quoted speech outside thoughts also hide it.
- Decoration names and private library names remain setup-only; the public name/title is a separate field.
- Names/titles work in previews, stay with separate target drafts, and save with each decoration or location.
- Saved texts can store a name/title. Applying a template copies the text and title, including a blank title, while keeping the target's spot and distance.
- Names/titles sync automatically with the host's text. Editing or clearing just the title updates visitor playback too.
UPDATING
- Both host and visitors must use 1.0 for automatic syncing. Sharing protocol and cache schema are now 8 to include names/titles; earlier releases cannot sync with 1.0.
- Existing authored lines, room labels, text templates and completed recovery remain intact. Older entries have no title until one is added. No new recovery step is required from 0.9.2 or newer.
- Older downloaded visitor caches are replaced by fresh downloads from an updated host.
- Include the Art and Fonts folders when installing. Updated README and AI/developer DEBUG_NOTES, with separate notes and changelog copies for this release.
- Rewrote the addon overview for 1.0 and prepared an updated CurseForge description covering the current features, formatting, setup, sharing and Chamberlain compatibility.
- Source reviewed only; no automated or in-game tests were run for this update.

House Whispers 0.9.5 (historical release notes)
Continues the accepted 0.9.1-based branch with the 0.9.2-0.9.4 changes retained.
THOUGHT CLOUD TRANSPARENCY
- Thought cloud backgrounds, outlines and trailing dots now use 50% opacity.
- Thought lettering remains fully opaque black Comic Neue Bold.
- Combined cloud artwork prevents overlapping puffs from making darker or more opaque patches. Include the new Art folder when installing.
- Compact sizing, fixed screen placement, Shift-drag, text reveal and scrolling are retained.
- Existing text and automatic sharing remain compatible with 0.9.2-0.9.4; each viewer needs 0.9.5 for the translucent appearance. No save migration is required.
- Updated README and AI/developer DEBUG_NOTES. The user approved 0.9.4; this opacity update was source-reviewed only, with no automated or in-game tests run.
------------------------------------------------------------
House Whispers 0.9.4 (historical release notes)
Continues the accepted 0.9.1-based branch, including all 0.9.2 and 0.9.3 changes.
THOUGHT CLOUD APPEARANCE AND MOVEMENT
- Short thoughts use a compact 300-unit-wide cloud. Over 120 visible thought characters, the cloud uses the wider 410-unit layout. Height fits the content up to the scrolling limit; the layout stays still during text reveal.
- Added a thick black cloud outline and outlined trailing thought dots around the white background.
- Thought text now uses black Comic Neue Bold, a bundled comic-style font. Its license and font log are included. Other dialogue fonts are unchanged.
- Removed camera zoom adjustment. The cloud stays at a fixed default screen position, with any saved local adjustment retained.
- Moving the cloud requires holding Shift while left-clicking and dragging its body or text area. Releasing Shift stops the drag. Ordinary clicks and drags do not reposition it.
- Updated the movement hint and /hw thoughts reset message. Close, Show all and scrolling remain available without Shift.
- Existing authored thoughts, reveal order, proximity triggers and automatic visitor syncing are retained. No new recovery step is needed from 0.9.2 or 0.9.3.
- Use 0.9.4 on each viewer for this appearance. Sharing protocol/schema 7 remains compatible with 0.9.2 and 0.9.3, which keep their own styling.
- Updated README and AI/developer DEBUG_NOTES with sizing, font assets, fixed placement and Shift-drag behavior.
- The user confirmed the 0.9.3 thought bubble works. These 0.9.4 changes were reviewed in source only; no automated or in-game tests were run for this update.
------------------------------------------------------------
House Whispers 0.9.3 (historical release notes)
Continues the 0.9.1-based branch with the 0.9.2 reliability fixes retained.
THOUGHT CLOUDS
- Text inside (parentheses) now appears in a white cloud-shaped thought bubble with black lettering and trailing thought dots above the reader's character area.
- The cloud adjusts its height with camera zoom. Drag it to fine-tune its position; the adjustment is saved locally. Use /hw thoughts reset to restore the default.
- Placement uses the character's usual centered screen position and zoom, not a tracked head position. Different forms, mounts, camera angles or shoulder offsets may need a manual adjustment.
- Thoughts are not duplicated in the regular dialogue window. Thought-only entries display only the cloud.
- Mixed text preserves its authored reveal order across the dialogue window and thought cloud. Each display appears when its first text is revealed.
- Parentheses and other paired formatting markers stay hidden from readers. All thought text is black, including nested styles. Nested interjections retain their capitalization, faster reveal, size and shake.
- Long thoughts support automatic and manual scrolling. Show all finishes both displays; X dismisses both for that proximity visit. Leaving the trigger range closes the cloud.
- Existing thoughts and saved-text templates work without being rewritten. Previews use the cloud too, with the existing reading time after the reveal finishes.
- Visitors see the thoughts above their own character when they approach the saved spot. No messages are posted to public chat.
COMPATIBILITY AND DOCUMENTATION
- Use 0.9.3 on each viewer for thought clouds. Sharing protocol 7 remains compatible with 0.9.2, which displays thoughts using its previous styling.
- No new recovery or save migration is required for users already on 0.9.2.
- Updated README and DEBUG_NOTES with the new module, rendering flow, zoom positioning, local preference, and pending in-game checks.
- Source reviewed only. In-game appearance, camera placement, and multiplayer behavior have not been tested for this release.

House Whispers 0.9.2 (historical release notes)
Based on 0.9.1. Earlier combined release notes are retained below.
SAVED TEXT RELIABILITY
- Fixed a cause of older edits returning after another visit or reload: houses now use a stable neighborhood-and-plot identity instead of a changing session handle.
- Wait for fresh house information after leaving a house or loading world content, so the previous house's identity is not reused while the current one loads.
- Added Recover saved text in setup and /hw recover. Review older saved sets and recover the desired set into the house you are standing in once.
- Kept an independent backup of older dialogue, trigger spots, room labels, and house sharing preferences. Original records are retained too.
- Recovery never overwrites existing new saves or drafts, does not automatically merge conflicting sets, and cannot silently reintroduce old text after a later edit or deletion.
- Legacy dialogue is separated by recorded owner where available. Room labels from a legacy house ID containing several owners remain backed up rather than being assigned to an owner by guesswork.
- Saving a line clears stale bubble and preview state. Active bubbles refresh when their saved text changes, even if the decoration stays the same.
- Reopening a clean editor draft reads the saved entry again; unsaved drafts remain intact.
- New line saves record their save time for future debugging. Older entries do not have trustworthy edit dates.
- Queued sharing offers and transfers are discarded after an edit so new announcements use the current snapshot.
UPDATING
- Update both host and visitors to 0.9.2 or a compatible newer version. The stable house identity requires a new sharing protocol; earlier releases cannot sync with this one.
- Visitor caches from older versions are refreshed from the updated host.
- Included DEBUG_NOTES.txt for AI and developer maintenance: architecture, data flow, investigation evidence, compatibility, product decisions, and remaining in-game checks.
- Continues to use horizontal proximity and native room matching from 0.9.1. No loft calibration, floor selector, or stairway system is included.
- Source reviewed; in-game recovery, reload persistence, and multiplayer behavior still need verification.

House Whispers 0.9.1 (historical release notes)
Combined release notes, including the previously unpublished 0.9.0 update.
ROOM LABELS
- Added custom room names with borderless RPG-style titles near the top of the screen.
- Use /hw rooms or the Room labels button to name, preview, edit, and delete labels for your house's native rooms.
- Titles now use twice the previous font size (32 instead of 16) and fade out in half the time (2.5 seconds instead of 5). They fade in for 1 second and remain fully visible for 2 seconds before fading out.
- House Whispers room labels sync automatically from the host to visitors using the addon.
- Room announcements have their own display toggle, separate from decoration dialogue.
- Room selection stays locked until you choose another room, with separate unsaved drafts for each room.
- Titles use the game's native room detection. Decorative partitions and lofts within one native room share the same label.
CHAMBERLAIN COMPATIBILITY
- When Chamberlain is loaded, it takes over room naming and banners. House Whispers avoids duplicate room announcements.
- The Room labels button and /hw rooms open Chamberlain's room manager.
- Chamberlain controls its own title size, appearance, timing, and room-name sharing. The House Whispers title size and fade changes apply when using House Whispers' own room labels.
- Decoration dialogue, reusable saved texts, decoration selection, and automatic dialogue syncing remain available through House Whispers.
- Existing House Whispers room labels stay saved and become available again if Chamberlain is disabled.
DECORATION TEXT AND ANIMATIONS
- All decoration dialogue now reveals letter by letter, left to right and top to bottom, like an RPG dialogue box.
- Normal text, quoted speech, actions, and thoughts reveal at 32 characters per second. Interjections reveal four times faster, at 128 characters per second.
- Interjections appear in orange ALL CAPS and are slightly larger than surrounding text.
- Interjections now shake three times more strongly and for twice as long: 0.56 seconds per word as it appears, then settle into place.
- Paired quotes, asterisks, brackets, and parentheses are hidden from readers. They remain visible in the editor and saved-text library so authors can control formatting.
- Gold speech, lavender actions, orange interjections, and teal thoughts retain their colors. Unformatted text remains white.
- Long dialogue automatically scrolls to follow the newest text. Scrolling manually stops this automatic movement.
- Added a Show all button to reveal the remaining dialogue immediately and stop the shake while keeping your current reading position.
- Previews stay open until the reveal finishes, plus 8 seconds to read. Using Show all also starts an 8-second reading period.
- Text layout is reserved before the reveal starts so words do not jump between lines as they appear.
UPDATING AND SHARING
- Existing dialogue, reusable saved texts, trigger locations, and room labels are preserved. Keep your SavedVariables when updating.
- Update the host and visitors to 0.9.1 for the new visual effects. Existing saved dialogue uses them automatically.
- Sharing remains compatible with 0.9.0. Versions before 0.9.0 use an older sharing format and cannot exchange dialogue with this release.
- First downloads and updates require the host to be online in the house or its plot. Cached dialogue remains available on later visits.
- Decoration proximity continues to use horizontal distance and native room matching. Lofts built from decorations within a single native room are not separated vertically.
