House Whispers

Give your home a voice.

Turn your player house into an interactive roleplaying space. Let a mysterious vase whisper a secret, an old journal reveal a memory, or a hidden corner tell its own story.

House Whispers lets you attach custom text to decorations or locations. When visitors with the addon approach a saved spot, your words appear on their screen.

• Proximity dialogue: Create text that appears as players approach decorations or locations.

• Animated text: Dialogue reveals letter by letter, with faster, larger, shaking interjections for dramatic moments.

• Four RP text styles: Give speech, actions, interjections, and thoughts their own colors.

• Custom room names: Display fading, borderless titles near the top of the screen when players enter named rooms.

• Automatic visitor syncing: Share your house’s dialogue and House Whispers room labels with visitors using the addon.

• Reusable saved texts: Build a personal library of descriptions and dialogue to quickly apply to new targets.

• Decoration selection: Choose decorations through inspection or the housing editor, with a selection that stays locked while you write.

• Reader controls: Skip the animation with Show all, scroll through longer passages, or dismiss the bubble. Moving away closes it automatically.

Write with personality

Use simple markers to style your text:

• "Welcome home." — Gold speech

• *The vase hums softly.* — Lavender actions

• [watch out!] — Orange interjections, automatically displayed in ALL CAPS

• (Something feels familiar.) — Teal thoughts

Formatting markers stay in the editor and are hidden from readers. Unformatted text appears in white.

Chamberlain compatibility

When Chamberlain is enabled, it handles room names and banners through its own settings and sharing system. House Whispers continues providing decoration dialogue, animated text, reusable saved texts, and automatic dialogue syncing.

Getting started

1. Type /hw or /HW to open setup.

2. Stand where you want the dialogue to trigger.

3. Select a decoration or choose Use my location.

4. Write your text, choose the activation distance, and save.

5. Close setup, leave decorating or inspection mode, and approach the saved spot.

Use /hw rooms to manage room labels and /hw texts to open your saved-text library.

Things to know

• Each reader needs House Whispers installed. Dialogue appears in a personal addon window.

• The host must be online in the house or its plot for initial downloads and updates. Previously downloaded dialogue can be used on later visits.

• Proximity uses horizontal distance and native room matching. Decoration-built lofts within one native room are not separated by height.

• Room labels follow rooms created through WoW’s housing layout system. Decorative partitions within a single native room share its label.
