HiddenBeauty - Forever
What's new
**Hidden Beauty – Forever Changelog**
Your saved settings, profiles, and folded sections are kept across all updates. There is nothing you need to do. New options are off by default unless noted.

### v2.1.0 — 20 October 2026
*Feature update from playtest notes.*
**Fixed**
- Ripple detail slider now correctly caps at 2 (the game maximum).
- Water camera checkbox renamed to **Camera collides with the water surface** with an accurate tooltip. Your saved choice is unchanged.
- *Always sharpen* tooltip now clearly states it applies even when FidelityFX Super Resolution is not in use.
**New**
- **FPS in the minimap tooltip** — Hover the minimap button (or addon menu entry) to see current FPS (updates once per second while open) and the active profile or preset.
- **On-screen FPS display** (off by default) — Enable via *Show FPS on screen* in the panel or `/hb fps`.
- Small gold-styled display, updates once per second only while visible.
- Color-coded: green (≥60), yellow (30–59), red (<30). Uses colorblind-safe colors when the game’s colorblind mode is on.
- Draggable. *Lock FPS Display* prevents accidental moves and lets clicks pass through. Anchored to the left edge so “FPS” stays fixed as the number changes width.
- Font choice (Friz Quadrata, Arial Narrow, Morpheus, Skurri, or 2002) and color for the “FPS” label via Blizzard’s color picker. Falls back to Friz Quadrata if a font fails to load.
- **Lock minimap button** — Checkbox prevents accidental dragging. Clicks still work.
- **Shift + mouse wheel** over a slider moves it one step at a time. Without Shift, the mouse wheel scrolls the list as before.
- Cost badges now always show their level (e.g. *High cost (3/4)*) for everyone, not only in colorblind mode.
- **Profile for raids and battlegrounds** — In the Profiles window, *Raids & Battlegrounds* selects a profile that auto-loads when this character enters a raid or battleground. Previous settings restore when you leave.
- No 30-second Keep/Revert countdown (leaving is the undo).
- Waits until combat ends; does nothing while dead or a ghost.
- Waits if a Keep/Revert countdown is already running or if Blizzard’s Options window is open.
- Short delay after a switch prevents rapid out-and-back flips.
- Settings left to other addons remain theirs. Other characters receive their own settings after any held previous settings are restored.
- Long profile names are shortened on buttons; full name appears in the tooltip.
- Change counts on section headers (e.g. *Shadows & Lighting (3)*) so folded sections still show how many settings are changed or pending Apply.
- Quick menu remembers its scroll position and reopens where you left off (including after `/reload` with the menu open).
- First-run welcome tip suggests Low, Balanced, or High based on Blizzard’s *Base Game Quality* slider (1–3: Low, 4–7: Balanced, 8–10: High). The *Try* button opens the normal confirmation followed by the 30-second Keep/Revert. Shown once.
- Small caution note in the Secondary Lighting tooltip when View Distance or hidden draw distance is high (costs add up). Tooltip only, no pop-up.

### v2.0.1 — 19 October 2026
*Polish update for 2.0.0 from playtesting.*
**Fixed**
- Particle Density no longer offers Ultra on Forever (highest is High). The slider, numbers, tooltip, presets, profiles, Revert, and Blizzard’s Graphics Quality slider all respect only supported levels. Unsupported saved values fall back to the nearest supported level with a chat note.
- Opening the spellbook, talents, map, or other Blizzard windows no longer closes the quick menu (including in combat). An open Profiles window stays open. Escape still closes it; pending changes still remind you. Blizzard’s Options window, game menu, and full-screen scenes still close it.
- Keep/Revert box no longer covers a question that just appeared below another one.
- Chat line about another addon changing settings no longer has a double space.
- Chat line asking you to close Blizzard’s Options window now correctly names the buttons (Apply or Close).
- Bug-report window first line now shows the full addon name.
**New look: gold border on every window**
- Quick menu, full panel, Keep/Revert box, Profiles, and bug-report window all have a full gold border (dark outer line, three-step gold edge, black inner line).
- Small gold diamond stud in each corner. Close (X) buttons sit further in and draw under the border.
- Header plate studs removed. Border uses plain colors only (no game textures required).
**Clearer names and wording**
- Buttons, tabs, section headers, and window titles use Title Case.
- Section headers: View Distance, Shadows & Lighting, Grass & Ground Clutter, Particles & Effects, Blizzard Graphics.
- Tooltips, questions, and chat lines use normal sentences. Chat lines start with a capital after “Hidden Beauty:”. Button names are exact.
- Blizzard settings in the quick menu use the exact names from Options > Graphics (SSAO, PBR Liquid Detail, Compute Effects, Projected Textures, Secondary Lighting, Ray Traced Shadows, Resample Quality, etc.). Levels use Blizzard’s names. Search still finds old names.
- Tooltips no longer call Blizzard’s sliders “presets”.
- “Raid and Battleground” wording matches Blizzard. Checkbox is now *Also write to the Raid and Battleground graphics settings*.
- Counts read naturally (“1 setting”, “3 settings”).
- Keep/Revert box says “Back to your previous settings in 30 seconds”. Timeout chat line says “not confirmed within 30 seconds”.
- Cost badge now reads “No FPS cost”.
- Blizzard rows show “Options > Graphics: 7 / 10”.
- Consistent American English spelling (color, colorblind, gray, behavior). “Grey screen while dead” is now “Gray screen while dead”.
- Various tooltip, chat, and wording cleanups for consistency and clarity.

### v2.0.0 — 19 October 2026
*Full release. Built on the 1.5 playtest.*
**Highlights**
- Low, Balanced, and High presets + Restore Blizzard Defaults.
- Short “Are you sure?” before every preset.
- 30 seconds to Keep or Revert every change.
- Optional switch so presets also set Blizzard’s Graphics Quality.
- New gold look.
**New**
- **Low, Balanced, and High presets** in one row of colored buttons (Low bluish-green, Balanced blue, High violet, Restore Blizzard Defaults red). Low is lighter for older PCs/laptops/raids. High is the former “Max Beauty”. Balanced remains the recommended start. Presets never lower camera zoom.
- “Are you sure?” confirmation before every preset (tells you how many settings change, main areas affected, whether Blizzard settings are included, and that you get 30 seconds). Yes, apply / Cancel or Escape. If relevant conditions change while the question is open, nothing applies and you get an updated question.
- 30-second Keep/Revert box after every change (Apply, presets, Restore Blizzard Defaults, profile load, Reset all). Names what you are deciding. Keep / Revert now / timeout. Sits below game question windows. Multiple changes during the countdown are part of the same decision. Reload or logout before choosing reverts on next login. Can be disabled with *Ask to keep changes*.
- New option: **Presets also set Blizzard’s graphics settings** (off by default). When on, Low/Balanced/High also set Graphics Quality to 1/10, 7/10, or 10/10 and everything that slider controls. Questions and tooltips count those settings. Skipped while Blizzard’s Options window is open.
**Changed**
- “Restore Blizzard” is now “Restore Blizzard Defaults” everywhere. It now asks first and gets the 30-second timer.
- Reset all also gets the 30-second Keep/Revert after its Yes/No question.
- Sliders, value boxes, and checkboxes only stage changes until Apply.
- Clearer preset tooltips (exact change count, “Mostly affects”, whether Blizzard settings are included).
- Friendlier wording throughout.
- Chat commands: `/hb preset low|balanced|high|blizzard` skips the question (30 seconds still apply). Unknown names get a short hint.
- More details in bug reports. Settings page waits longer for Blizzard’s Graphics page on slow loads. Beta label removed.
**Fixed**
- Undo is now exact. Blizzard settings are written first, then Hidden Beauty’s own, then saved values are restored. Apply, presets, profiles, Revert, timeout, and combat-queued changes all land correctly.
- Restore Blizzard Defaults followed by Revert truly returns to previous settings.
- What you see (hover count, question, actual result) always matches the click.
- Damaged saved data is ignored safely.
- Profile loads correctly remember values even when a Blizzard setting had already moved one.
**New look: gold header plate**
- Dark header plate with gold edge and studs, full title in gold, bronze “quick settings” tab in the quick menu.
- Soft dark edge, round gold slider knobs with gold fill, inset value boxes, gentle gold section headers, thin gold line above bottom buttons.
- Filled buttons with gold-brown edges that light up on hover. Apply is the only deep-gold button. Revert now and Restore Blizzard Defaults are red. Disabled buttons turn gray and dim.
- Keep/Revert, Profiles, and bug-report windows match. Quick menu has a solid dark background. Same sizes as before. Only game textures used (plain color fallback if missing).
**Still safe and lightweight**
- Only Blizzard’s own graphics and camera settings from a fixed list, each with safe limits.
- Nothing changes during combat.
- Blizzard settings only touched when allowed, and never while Options is open.
- No libraries, no background work. Saved data upgraded automatically.
---
### v1.5.0-beta — 19 October 2026
**Fixed**
- Tooltips and descriptions no longer show developer details (those are in `/hb debug` only).
- Reset arrow and gold “changed” look only appear on settings Hidden Beauty actually changed.
- Restore Blizzard no longer undoes itself (applies immediately, no question or timer). Reset all and Restore Blizzard now do different things.
- Nothing is written during combat. Changes queue and apply when combat ends.
- Full panel in combat: quick menu stays open; panel opens automatically after combat.
- Panel’s Quick menu button closes Blizzard Options then opens the quick menu (with safeguards).
- Preset preview count matches the click.
- Unapplied-changes reminder works even if you never opened the quick menu that session.
- Conflict warning no longer reports your own setting when it is back at the saved value.
- Typed values are kept when a box loses focus (clamped to range). Escape still discards.
- Tab / Shift-Tab moves between value boxes (skips folded, filtered, or read-only rows).
- Tooltips open on the side with more room. Quick-menu button tooltips avoid covering the header.
- Quick menu position is remembered, stays on screen, and resizes appropriately after UI-scale or resolution changes.
- Quick menu no longer closes with Blizzard’s Options window.
- Minimap button name cleaned up for button-collector addons (*HiddenBeauty*). Position kept.
- Apply in the quick menu works correctly when Blizzard settings were changed with Options open. Blizzard rows gray out and become read-only while Options is open.
- Addon compartment Shift-click opens Options > Graphics. Tooltip no longer offers Drag.
- Blizzard’s 1–10 sliders correctly show and accept 1–10.
- “Let other addons win” list is restored by Revert.
- Profile loads only count settings whose value actually changed.
- Empty bars in cost badges are easier to see.
**Changed**
- Presets are one click. With *Ask to keep changes* on, the 30-second timer starts. No confirmation box or Apply step.
- 30-second safety revert follows every Apply, preset, and profile load. Option renamed *Ask to keep changes (30-second revert timer)*.
- Clearer buttons (Apply shows pending count and is gold; Balanced labeled recommended; Restore Blizzard and Revert now are red; etc.).
- Tidier layout (title on its own line, Apply/Discard in footer, buttons wrap, shorter footer).
- Plain names (technical term in brackets where helpful). Consistent “quick menu” / “full panel” wording.
- Sections sorted by visual impact. Folded/unfolded state kept.
- Easier-to-read rows (pending shows • and orange; changed shows gold; reset arrow icon; fixed grid; cost bars and words stay).
- One window in charge (opening the full panel hides the quick menu).
- One cost scale everywhere (green Low, yellow Medium, red High).
- Tooltips ordered: what it does → performance cost → current vs default.
- Clearer `/hb apply` wording.
**Added**
- Colorblind support (colorblind-safe palette when game colorblind mode is on; costs also show level such as *(3/4)*).
- Smarter search (everyday words find the right settings).
- Unapplied-changes reminder when closing the last Hidden Beauty window (Apply / Keep editing / Discard). Number on minimap button shows pending count.
- Preset preview on hover (change count and biggest areas).
- Escape closes the Profiles window.
**Safety**
- All previous safety limits still apply and are tested against typed values, one-click presets, profiles, and damaged data.
- No libraries, no protected actions, no writes during combat.
- Saved data upgraded automatically (version 6).

### v1.4.0-beta — 19 October 2026
**Added**
- **Profiles** — Three slots per account (default names: Raid, Questing, Screenshots).
- Save stores differing Hidden Beauty settings and Blizzard quick-menu graphics settings (asks before overwriting).
- Load goes through the normal Apply path with the 30-second Keep/Revert.
- Rename and Clear (asks first).
- Optional auto-load on login per character (no countdown).
- Available from Profiles button or `/hb profile list|save|load <1-3 or name>`.
- **Conflict warning** — After login re-apply, checks if another known addon (Leatrix Plus, Advanced Interface Options, DynamicCam, MaxCam, ElvUI) changed your saved settings. One short chat line per session + orange warning in panel header with tooltip. New checkbox *Don’t re-apply settings another addon changed* (off by default).
- `/hb debug` — Copyable read-only report (version, screen info, values, pending changes, refused writes, conflicting addons, etc.).
- Version in panel header (tooltip shows build/interface/locale) and quick-menu title. `/hb version`.
- First-run tip (shown once; `/hb tips` shows it again).
- Quick menu button in the full panel.
- Sliders widen to a value the game already holds outside their range (up to a fixed hard cap).
**Fixed**
- Tooltips hidden before any confirmation/popup/Keep/Revert box.
- Presets no longer lower camera zoom (only raise it; Max Beauty sets 4.0).
- Escape no longer accidentally reverts (Keep/Revert box ignores Escape).
- Timer tooltip no longer promises a revert after a crash.
- Footer and minimap counts include only settings this client has.
- `/hb` in combat no longer tries to open Options (opens after combat).
- Blizzard’s *Defaults > All Settings* is harmless.
- “Applied N change(s)” counts only writes the game accepted.
- Combat-queued writes that still fail after combat are dropped.
**Changed**
- Reset shown only on changed or pending rows (or Blizzard rows that differ from default).
- Units shown on slider ranges only where verified. On/off rows no longer show duplicate 1/0.
- Friendlier header line. Build/interface info moved to version tooltip and `/hb version`.
- Raid checkbox wording updated; tooltip clarifies what unticking restores.
- Safety: every CVar write limited to Hidden Beauty’s list; values clamped to hard caps.
- Packaging cleaned up. Saved variables now version 5 (older data kept). New per-character DB for auto-load.
---
### v1.3.0-beta — 19 October 2026
**Added**
- Apply / Discard buttons in panel header and quick menu. Changes are staged until Apply. Pending rows show orange value + *pending* marker. Both windows share the same pending changes.
- 30-second safety revert after Apply, presets, Reset all, and Restore Blizzard. Keep / Revert now / Escape / timeout. Second change restarts timer but keeps original snapshot. Reload or logout during countdown reverts on next login. Toggle with *Confirm big changes with 30s revert timer*. New commands: `/hb keep` and `/hb revert`.
**Fixed**
- Garbled performance badge (bars were “|” characters, which WoW treats as color codes). Now proper colored textures.
- Blizzard rows show proper Options menu names/levels.
- Help line no longer contains “|” characters.
- Row notes stay on one line.
**Changed**
- Max camera distance (zoom factor) goes up to 4.0.

---
### v1.2.0 — 19 October 2026

**Changed**
- Row badge colors match the new tooltip scale. Layout, ranges, defaults, and behavior otherwise unchanged.
---
### v1.1.0 — 19 October 2026
**Added**
- Minimap button (left-click quick menu, right-click full panel, shift-click Options > Graphics). Draggable around minimap edge (position saved). Works on round and square minimaps. Hide with checkbox or `/hb minimap`.

- New addon icon.
- Addon compartment entry (left-click quick menu, right-click panel, tooltip on hover).
- New commands: `/hb quick` and `/hb minimap [on|off]`.
**Changed**
- Blizzard settings from the quick menu are written exactly like Blizzard’s Apply. Not saved or re-applied by Hidden Beauty. While Options is open, the quick menu won’t change them.
- Panel status line moved to the bottom. Saved variables now version 3.
